DC HERO AT MARVEL

Chapter 137: Chapter 137 War Fortress – Justice League Base!

Cyborg clone instantly understood Batman intent.

After all, they were both Anton, and with memory sharing active, there was no need for a nod or a word they knew what the other was thinking.

While the group was still puzzled, Cyborg raised his hand, and a glowing energy shield materialized around them.

Whoosh!

Suddenly, a powerful suction force descended from above, making everyone feel weightless.

"What this?"

Spider-Man and the others looked up at the circular opening above their heads, a startling thought crossing their minds. It was as if they had been transported back to that critical moment earlier.

A portal.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

In the next instant, everyone inside the building vanished without a trace.

The teleportation beacon and all personnel disappeared.

Meanwhile, in space…

In an unknown galaxy.

Inside a circular spacecraft, Batman and the others materialized.

"Where are we?"

Spider-Man, the Ninja Turtles, and the rest looked around, swallowing nervously, their faces full of shock and awe.

"This is the War Fortress," Anton said, his gaze sweeping over the group.

Spider-Man, Venom, Daredevil, and the Ninja Turtles!

These individuals currently represented the main fighting force of the Justice League, apart from Anton himself.

Of course, there was one more formal member who wasn't present here.

That was Phil Urich, also known as "The Demon."

Without Phil exceptional acting skills, this entire operation wouldn't have gone so flawlessly according to plan.

Whether it was infiltrating the Foot Clan or misleading S.H.I.E.L.D., Phil had been the most critical player.

However, Phil was currently still "a guest" at S.H.I.E.L.D., so he had to be temporarily left out of consideration.

Strictly speaking, there was another significant figure—Bruce Banner, the Hulk—who was training at the Ninja Turtles' sewer dojo.

Banner was technically a member of the Justice League, albeit more of an auxiliary one.

Despite his immense strength, Banner had a serious discussion with Anton and made it clear that he didn't plan to take part in battles as a front-line combatant.

After conversing with Dr. Curt Connors, the Lizard, Banner decided to focus his efforts on research. He intended to serve as the League logistics chief, aiming to explore whether mutagenic compounds could neutralize the mental instability caused by the Goblin serum.

If successful, it might even help suppress the Hulk within him.

At the very least, it might stop him from transforming every time his heart rate spiked!

Even during intimate moments!

Interestingly, Banner aspirations stood in stark contrast to Phil.

Phil had no interest in logistics and instead chose to modify the Goblin leftover weaponry to transform into "The Demon," aiming to fight on the front lines.

Of course, Phil involvement in this incident had been exceptionally covert and had to remain undisclosed.

During the critical phase of the alien Langer invasion, Phil had been "visiting" S.H.I.E.L.D. and hadn't shown up for the battles, losing any chance of being recognized publicly. He would have to wait for the next major event to make his debut.

Thus, for now, no one in New York knew about him.

Truly unfortunate!

"War Fortress?"

"What the War Fortress? Could it be the alien spacecraft that the teleportation beacon just sent back across the universe?"

"Are we in space right now?"

Hearing Batman response, Spider-Man and the others widened their eyes in astonishment.

Even Daredevil, Matt Murdock, who usually maintained an unshakable composure, seemed slightly disoriented.

Though he couldn't see, the way his companions spoke, combined with the way sound waves traveled and reflected off the surroundings, created a vivid 3D mental image in his mind.

This technologically advanced space was awe-inspiring, almost overwhelming.

Beyond the walls, there seemed to be a thin membrane isolating external sound, completely cutting it off.

Such an effect was far beyond what ordinary building materials could achieve.

An alien spacecraft!

Daredevil found himself momentarily dazed.

It was basic knowledge that sound couldn't travel in space.

Since they were in the War Fortress and could breathe normally, Daredevil inferred, based on the soundscape, the presence of an environment filled with air.

And how did the War Fortress have breathable air?

Naturally, through water.

Electrolysis.

When water is subjected to an electric current, it ionizes, splitting into hydrogen and oxygen gases. By filtering out the hydrogen, machines can generate oxygen.

This is the same method employed by Earth space programs to ensure astronauts can breathe in space.

Spacecrafts store large quantities of water for this very purpose.

And why would the War Fortress have water?

It ties back to the universal truth that water is the source of life. Somewhere in the universe, there must be sources of water.

Think of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

If Star-Lord had no water to drink, he wouldn't last more than a few days. Without water, he wouldn't have survived long enough to escape Earth after being abducted at nine.

Thus, the existence of water in the universe—at least in the Marvel Universe—is a given.

By extension, it made perfect sense for Lang to have stored vast reserves of water aboard the War Fortress.

Back to the topic at hand.

Among the Ninja Turtles, Donatello—the smartest of the four—immediately grasped Batman point.

As a tech enthusiast, he was visibly excited.

His energy rivaled that of his exuberant brother Michelangelo.

"War Fortress! An alien spaceship!"

Donatello looked eagerly at Batman and exclaimed with excitement, "Batman, is this going to be our base from now on?"

"Exactly," Batman confirmed with a nod. "This will be the Justice League base. I plan to relocate Connors and his research facilities here. Additionally, the War Fortress has a prison that was specifically constructed by its original commander, the alien Lang. We can also transfer the Green Goblin holding location from the sewers to the War Fortress."

"That great! Truly a perfect decision!"

Donatello nodded in full agreement, marveling at how spot-on Batman choice was.

"It a good thing you didn't hand over the teleportation beacon to S.H.I.E.L.D.! Otherwise, this place might have ended up in their hands!"

Batman didn't respond, but he was certain that Nick Fury would never have anticipated this possibility.

The War Fortress had been sent back across the universe.

The coordinates were one thing.

The key was that Nick Fury wouldn't be able to confirm whether Lang was the only alien aboard the War Fortress.

The spacecraft was nearly the size of a small town.

To earthlings, the idea that such a massive structure housed only Lang would seem utterly illogical.

Nick Fury, constrained by his limited perspective, would never consider the War Fortress as something worth coveting.

Even if he had obtained the teleportation beacon, he wouldn't have dared to launch a counteroffensive against the aliens.

That was just the kind of cautious person he was.

Avengers.

The very name said it all.

Only someone like Anton—who essentially had cheat-level abilities, a godlike perspective, and control over the War Fortress via Cyborg—would have the audacity to do what others wouldn't even dare to imagine: occupy the War Fortress and turn it into the Justice League base.

"I've equipped you all with special wristbands designed to interface with the teleportation beacon," Anton explained. "These wristbands include communication and tracking functions. Using the teleportation beacon, we can get you to disaster or terror incident sites as soon as possible."

Anton continued, "You must wear these at all times. If anything comes up, I'll notify you immediately. If you have other plans or run into trouble, you can use the wristbands to communicate with your teammates at any time."

"Understood!"

The group nodded, visibly excited.

"Good," Anton nodded. "If you need to use the teleportation feature, you can do so directly through the wristband. Cyborg has granted you partial access to the teleportation beacon. However, all operations will require review and approval from Cyborg and me before execution. I hope you understand."

"We understand, of course!"

The group trusted Batman implicitly. There was no issue of anyone nitpicking his authority.

After all, Batman leadership of the Justice League was an undeniable fact, both internally and externally.

Meanwhile.

Earth. New York. A hotel.

This was S.H.I.E.L.D. public base of operations in New York.

Nick Fury and the founding members of the Avengers were having a meeting.

"Nick, the Avengers currently consist of just me, Hawkeye, and Natasha, while the Justice League has already gathered a roster including Batman, Spider-Man, Daredevil, the Ninja Turtles, Venom, Cyborg, and Green Arrow!"

Tony Stark had removed his armor and was seated on the couch, staring at Nick Fury with a serious expression.

"If the Avengers continue like this, I don't see the point of their existence!"

He wasn't joking. Tony issued an ultimatum to Fury. "You've investigated me, so you must know that I, Tony Stark, am not someone who picks up scraps left behind by others."
