DC HERO AT MARVEL

Chapter 139: Chapter 139 Phil Forgotten Again!

After returning to Earth via the War Fortress, the Justice League heroes quickly dispersed and headed home.

They eagerly tested the convenience of teleportation.

By simply entering coordinates into their wristbands, they could instantly arrive at their destinations.

Watching everyone leave, Anton retracted his Cyborg and Green Arrow clones.

Eddie, however, rushed back to the Daily Bugle in full workaholic mode, preparing to dive headfirst into an unprecedented exposé.

Transformed into Venom, Eddie had used his camera to document the entire event.

Coupled with some insider knowledge, his years of journalistic experience left no doubt: this would be a story that would dominate the headlines.

Moreover, Eddie had discussed the alien invasion with Anton beforehand.

Anton had no intention of hiding the existence of aliens.

From Anton perspective, New York would face an even bigger battle in just over a year.

Better to prepare New Yorkers with a preemptive wake-up call, making them aware of the extraterrestrial threats looming over Earth.

Thus, Anton approach starkly contrasted with S.H.I.E.L.D. more conservative stance. He had no plans to stop Eddie from revealing the truth.

In fact, the goal wasn't just to reveal the aliens but also to promote the superhero team led by Batman: the Justice League.

The report would highlight the critical roles played by Batman, Cyborg, and Green Arrow during the incident. This strategy would undoubtedly skyrocket their popularity.

From the perspective of Anton and the Daily Bugle, it was essential to give equal credit to everyone involved.

After all, while New Yorkers had witnessed Cyborg, Batman, and Iron Man fighting enemies in the skies, they were unaware of the battles fought by Green Arrow and others at the TCRI lab.

Neglecting that aspect would be an oversight.

DC.

Anton sat in his chair, gazing at the system panel showing his accumulated Justice Points.

[Defeating Langer, saving New York: Justice Points reward: 7 million.][Current Justice Points balance: 20 million.]

Seeing this figure, Anton couldn't help but smile genuinely.

The rewards were substantial!

Langer appearance signified an alien invasion.

Such a large-scale event dwarfed incidents like the appearances of the Lizard, Green Goblin, or Doctor Octopus in importance.

Just as Anton had anticipated, the system had rewarded him generously.

His Justice Points balance had skyrocketed to a staggering 20 million.

This was an impressive number.

Among the Batman suits available in the system space, the Bat-Enhanced Armor was priced precisely at 20 million points.

This armor, which appeared in The New 52: Batman and Robin, was used to combat the armored villain Deathstroke. It boasted formidable strength, flight capabilities, and even resistance to nuclear blasts.

Frankly, spending 20 million points on the Bat-Enhanced Armor would be a worthy investment.

Anton believed this armor could rival—or even surpass—most of the suits featured in Iron Man 3.

However, he wasn't in a rush to redeem it.

If his 20 million Justice Points could double or triple, achieving a grander goal—like dominating Earth—wouldn't be out of reach.

In conclusion, saving the points for a more pressing need seemed the wisest course.

Soon enough, Anton shook off these "delusions."

Although Anton current "savings" seemed promising, there was no room for complacency—he needed to keep pushing forward.

Glancing at the time, Anton decided to check online reactions to the recent events.

While he anticipated the incident would spark a storm of discussion, the intensity of the online buzz still caught him off guard.

Everywhere he looked, people were talking about it.

Countless news posts flooded the internet.

Speculation and conspiracy theories swarmed like a hive of bees, chaotic and overwhelming, dominating the public attention. New Yorkers were feasting on the drama.

The entire nation was fixated on the event, giving it unprecedented attention.

However, as Anton browsed these sensationalized posts, he realized that most were wild fabrications. None of them got to the heart of the matter.

An alien invasion!

The truth was almost too incredible to believe.

Without an authoritative source backing it, no one would accept such a narrative.

That where the Daily Bugle came in as the trusted authority.

Once the Daily Bugle published its coverage, all the noise and confusion would vanish.

After all, the Daily Bugle had Batman backing it.

Batman endorsement!

As one of the key heroes involved in resolving the crisis, his credibility was unassailable.

No one doubted Batman.

Likewise, Batman reputation—and that of Cyborg—had reached staggering heights thanks to this incident.

In New York, 90% of citizens had become Batman fans.

Cyborg, who had taken center stage during the battle against Lang, garnered attention equal to, if not greater than, Batman.

During the showdown, Cyborg dazzling display of technological prowess far outshone Batman.

On Anton system interface—visible only to him—the fan points for Batman and Cyborg had nearly doubled in a short period.

This was Anton most tangible takeaway from the entire ordeal.

After some time, Anton shut down his computer and glanced out the window.

The morning sun was rising.

Golden light poured into the office.

It was time to clock out.

As he drove away from his office, Anton paused, feeling like he had forgotten something.

Still, he didn't dwell on it.

Everything important had been taken care of. If he had forgotten something, it likely wasn't significant enough to matter.

Nightfall.

Eddie had finished his work, finally completing the article set to publish the next day.

Thinking about the massive reaction the piece would provoke, he couldn't help but smile as he left the office to head home.

Before leaving, he too felt like he'd forgotten something.

But like Anton, he brushed it off.

Late night.

At a hotel.

Phil had finally been released by S.H.I.E.L.D.

Standing in the cold wind, he looked out at the dark night, the pale moonlight casting a chill over him.

The icy breeze sent shivers down his spine. Goosebumps prickled his skin as he instinctively hunched his shoulders.

Staring at the empty streets, not a single car or person in sight, he fell into deep thought.

His phone had been disassembled by S.H.I.E.L.D., and they hadn't bothered to reassemble it—handing him only a bag of parts, leaving him unable to make calls.

Additionally, the Demon suit, modified from the Green Goblin equipment, didn't seem to be something S.H.I.E.L.D. planned to return anytime soon.

He would have to reach out to Anton later and ask him to contact S.H.I.E.L.D. to retrieve it.

But…

How was he supposed to get home now?

Boss, Editor-in-Chief, where are you?

Phil felt like crying.

I'm one of your unsung heroes!
