Chapter 179: Chapter 179 The Arrival of a Mystery Figure!
The War Machine piloted by Rhodes went out of control, deploying the Ex-Wife Missile and aiming it at the audience.
The situation changed in an instant.
The silent specter of war seemed to creep through the massive exhibition hall.
Click, click, click!
At the same time, the rows of steel soldiers behind Rhodes readied their cannons, all aiming toward the audience.
Their presence was overwhelming.
Judging by Justin Hammer expression and the desperate warnings from Rhodes, the War Machine pilot, this was no accident.
"What happening?"
"Why is this happening?"
"Attack! Attack! Run! Get out of here!"
Someone realized the gravity of the situation, and the audience quickly descended into chaos.
With both the steel soldiers and the Ex-Wife Missile, which Hammer had so highly praised, now aimed directly at them, who wouldn't be terrified?
"This way!"
Phil, who had somehow gotten his hands on a megaphone, began directing the crowd.
"Get away from the stage! The steel soldiers are out of control!"
"Out of control?"
Justin Hammer was completely dumbfounded.
Moments later, his frustration boiled over as he turned to Rhodes, gritting his teeth.
"Colonel Rhodes! Put away the missile! You're ruining my showcase!"
"I can't," Rhodes responded through gritted teeth, his voice equally tense.
"Hammer, what the hell did you do? I can't control my suit!"
"What?"
Justin Hammer was stunned.
In an instant, he understood—something must have gone wrong behind the scenes. Ivan Vanko was sabotaging everything!
At that moment, despair washed over him.
He was one step away from collapsing to the ground in tears.
It was over. Absolutely over!
Ex-Wife Missile?
Anton sat calmly in his chair, unfazed by the sudden chaos unfolding on stage. His expression showed no fear, only a peculiar curiosity.
"Anton!"
Beside him, Eddie looked tense, his voice low and urgent.
"We need to get out of here! The missile is about to launch!"
"No rush," Anton replied, crossing one leg over the other.
"Let it launch. I'm actually curious to see the power of this so-called Ex-Wife Missile."
"What?"
Eddie eyes widened, wondering if Anton had lost his mind.
That was a missile!
Even if Anton was Batman, without his armor or any protection, taking a missile head-on like this—who gave him the confidence to do such a thing?
"Damn it!"
On the other side.
Tony frowned deeply, noticing all the cannons on stage aiming directly at him. His heart sank as he commanded J.A.R.V.I.S. to bring his R8 from the edge of the stage while taking several steps back.
Vroom! Vroom!
The sound of the car engine roared as it sped toward him.
But by this time, the Ex-Wife Missile mounted on the shoulder of Rhodes' War Machine had already launched.
"Help!!"
"Damn Hammer Industries! I don't want to die!"
The panicked crowd erupted into screams.
The dozen or so people near Tony turned pale, their hearts pounding as if they would burst out of their chests. Their legs trembled so badly they could barely stand, and some were on the verge of wetting themselves.
Boom!!
The missile launched from Rhodes' shoulder, streaking straight toward Tony.
From a distance, Harry, who had just donned his bio-armor and stepped onto his glider to announce his debut as a superhero, spotted the missile heading for Tony.
He sped toward the scene at full tilt.
Who would've thought that just after declaring himself a superhero, trouble would come knocking on his door?
Was this destiny?
As Harry raced toward Tony position, his gaze locked onto the missile slicing through the air, moving like a bolt of lightning straight at Tony.
Even with his bio-armor, he wasn't foolish enough to try to intercept the missile head-on.
However, he had a plan to save Tony.
"Tony! Move now!"
Not far away, Pepper eyes were filled with panic.
Overcome with worry, she ignored the danger and fearlessly ran straight toward Tony.
Boom!!
At the same time, the much-anticipated transformation of the R8 into a massive mech took flight.
Unfortunately, in such a critical moment, no one cared anymore.
Everyone was too busy trying to save their own lives.
In less than thirty seconds, the central and largest exhibition hall had descended into utter chaos.
In the nick of time.
The lightning-fast mech finally positioned itself in front of Tony.
A sharp gust of wind, as piercing as blades, whipped outward in all directions, stinging the faces of those nearby.
Pepper reached Tony side as well.
With a grave expression, Tony grabbed her and pulled her behind a chair for cover.
Clang!!
The Ex-Wife Missile reached the R8 mech.
Harry also arrived, his bio-armor shifting into a shield.
Seeing the mech take its stand, Harry moved beside Tony, using his shield to protect him and Pepper.
Pfft!
Ding, ding, ding!
Under the eyes of everyone present, the Ex-Wife Missile sputtered, malfunctioned, and then harmlessly dropped to the ground.
For a good ten seconds, the entire hall fell into stunned silence.
"Heh."
From the corner, Anton couldn't help but chuckle.
"So this is the Ex-Wife Missile? Truly affordable, versatile, and with impressive range and precision.
But... the power seems to be a bit of an issue."
Though his voice wasn't loud, in the eerie silence, it echoed clearly in everyone ears.
"Uh…"
Justin Hammer was speechless.
He finally couldn't hold it in and collapsed onto the ground, questioning his life choices and wishing he could crawl into a hole and disappear.
Even with the steel soldiers and Rhodes' War Machine out of control, in his mind, nothing was more humiliating than the Ex-Wife Missile misfiring.
This was a missile Hammer Industries had spent years developing.
They had even signed multi-billion-dollar contracts with the U.S. military.
One misfire, whether intentional or not, could easily cost Hammer Industries its most significant client.
How could this happen?
"Ugh."
Tony, holding Pepper, stood up and glanced at Justin Hammer on stage, then at Rhodes in the War Machine suit.
"This is it?"
He spread his hands in mock disbelief.
Then, his gaze shifted to Harry standing nearby.
His eyes lingered for a second on the bio-armor, confirming it was definitely not a nano suit.
"Tony, I can't control the suit!"
Rhodes' voice quickly drew his attention.
Rhodes, completely ignoring the embarrassment of the Ex-Wife Missile misfiring, shouted urgently through the suit speakers, "Evacuate the crowd! Someone is controlling my armor!"
"Who controlling the suit?"
Tony scanned the room, his eyes briefly landing on Anton and the others in the corner.
He let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Since Anton was here, no matter how chaotic the situation seemed, it wouldn't spiral into complete disaster.
His glance was fleeting, and he quickly moved on.
Based on the misfired missile from Rhodes and the behavior of the steel soldiers behind him, it was clear the enemy was targeting him specifically.
Though slightly reassured, the heavy weight in his heart had not fully lifted.
Boom!!
Suddenly, a loud sonic boom echoed from above.
A meteor streaked across the sky.
Just like Rhodes' earlier entrance, a mysterious figure in armor descended from the heavens and crashed onto the ground, leaving a dent in the stage.
This armor was also silver.
But it was noticeably larger than the usual suits.
Though it couldn't compare to Tony car transforming into a mech, it looked much more imposing next to Rhodes' War Machine.
"Damn it!"
Rhodes glared at the man beside him, realizing immediately that this person was the true culprit.
"It you! You're the one controlling my armor! Who the hell are you?"
