DC:The Darkest Knight

Chapter 27: Vengeance! The night! Batman!

Let's see, right leg on top of the gargoyle's head, left leg slightly back, cape fluttering, puff the chest, and look at the city while keeping the head straight.

"*ahem*...I am vengeance! I am the night! I am Batman!"

*RUMBLE… BOOM!*

And the thunder, perfect.

{That was phenomenal, sir.}

'Thank you, Eden. Now, what crimes are happening right now?'

{There's a robbery in progress at Gotham Bank, sir. Four suspects are involved. One is in the lobby, holding seven hostages and blocking the police from entering. Two are at the safe, loading gold bars and cash into bags, which seem to be finishing as they are filling their last bag. Finally, the fourth one is waiting in a car by a sewer manhole two blocks away from the bank.}

'Status report about the hostages'

{They are physically fine, sir, but may be experiencing mental stress. The robbers appear to be professional as they avoid harming the hostages and agitating the police to avoid direct confrontation.}

Very well then; I will catch them after they leave the bank. I don't want to expose myself too much to the public just yet.

Just then, something in the alley below caught my attention. A thug with a gun was holding a cat in one hand, while a man with a bloody face clung to his leg.

"Please, I'm begging you, take everything I have but not her. She's all I have left from her, please," he pleaded, still holding onto the thug's leg even as the thug struck him with the back of his gun.

"Let go of me, you fucker."

Jumping down, I glided toward them.

"Please, not her. Take me instead; kill me but let her go."

*Thud*

"What was th-*Aaghkk*"

As the thug turned around to check the noise I made when I landed, I grabbed him by the neck and lifted him up, making him let go of the cat. The man caught the cat as it fell and hugged it tightly, while the thug looked at me with fear-filled eyes as he struggled to break free. He clung to my arm and kicked wildly while trying to aim his gun at me.

*Crack*

I snapped his wrist, and he squirmed like a pig while foaming from his mouth before I choked him out.

"It's okay, it's okay, I'm here, no one will hurt you anymore," the man said, trying to soothe the cat as he sat against the wall.

Just as he placed his hand on the ground to stand up, he froze when he finally noticed me. He quickly tucked the cat into his jacket and curled up protectively.

"Please, don't take her. She's all I have left from her. She is the only reason I'm holding on.

Please don't take her from me, I'm begging you," he pleaded with tears in his eyes as he tried to hide the cat in his jacket.

'Eden, send an anonymous report to GCPD.'

Instead of speaking, I approached the man and tossed the thug's body beside him.

"Kyaaaaaaaa!"

He let out such a girly and high-pitched scream that I froze in place with my hand raised, ready to shoot the hook and leave.

Lowering my head, I looked at the man as he squirmed and held up his hands in front of him.

"Please don't eat my soul; I am a devoted Christian," he said, his voice trembling as he made the sign of the cross with his fingers, his eyes closed and turning his head aside, while the cat poked its head from his jacket and looked at me curiously with its big eyes. "By the power of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Son, I banish you to the Abyss you came from. Begone, demon!"

Did this motherf***er just exorcise me?

{Sir, the robbers at Gotham Bank are heading to their getaway car.}

'Send me the exact location of the car, Eden.'

***

Landing on the roof of the car, I punched through it as I grabbed the driver and pulled him out.

"Please, don't eat me!" he pleaded, but I slammed his face against the roof, breaking his nose and knocking him out. I quickly tied his hands with rope and hung him from a streetlight.

Standing in front of the manhole, I waited for the other robbers to arrive.

It wasn't long before their heads started to pop out of the manhole. As the first one got out, he looked up and froze when he saw me.

I didn't give him a chance to say or do anything as I kicked him in the jaw, breaking it and knocking him out cold.

The second one took his time. He threw the money bags outside, and after throwing seven bags, he climbed out and froze when he saw me.

I grabbed him by the mouth to prevent him from screaming and knocked him out with a headbutt.

The last one poked his head out and scanned the area before he saw me. He gave a silly smile and tried to jump down, but I grabbed his hair and pulled him out. Then I let go of his hair and grabbed the back of his head, slamming his face to the ground, knocking him out too.

'Eden, send their location to GCPD.'

I grabbed the money bags and tossed them into the car, locking it afterward. Then, I used a laser to weld the hole I made in the car's roof.

{Sir, there is a drug deal happening in one of the warehouses at Gotham Port right now. You might want to check it out.}

'Send me the location, Eden.'

***

Standing above the warehouse that was filled with containers, I looked inside through the roof glass and saw two men talking while smoking.

"And I was like, ugh, is that dick good? And she was like, Yes, king. I was like, How good is that dick, bitch? She didn't say shit because she was screaming underneath me, like she was in bliss, you know, with her eyes rolled back and her tongue out," one of the men told of his exciting night as he gestured with his hand and made noises as if he was reliving the moment even now.

"Yeah, you are the king," the other man said, barely paying attention as he fiddled with his phone.

Activating detective mode, I scanned the warehouse.

There were 16 men inside, all armed. Two were right below me, four stood at the entrance, and four were at the back discussing the transaction of the deal. Three were packing drugs into bags in one container, two of them were checking the guns in another container, and the last one was actually sleeping in a dark corner.

Killing the lights was out of the question since they would notice something was wrong and panic. The vents were too small and in the open for me to move quietly. There wasn't anything close to the ceiling for me to stand on, but containers actually were useful since they separated the mobs just enough for me to take them out quietly without being seen.

I pressed my clawlike fingertip against the glass, drew a large circle, and removed it.

Jumping down and landing quietly behind the mobs, I grab one of them by the back of his neck and lift him up as I send a shock through his body, knocking him out. Meanwhile, I elbow the other in the temple, causing permanent brain damage, and grab him by the hair to prevent him from falling down and making any sound. Then, I drag their bodies to the corner of the warehouse and glue them to the wall. The corners of the warehouse are quite dark as light does not reach there, so they will remain unseen unless someone comes really close to them.

I activated the EMP on my gauntlet and moved toward my next targets at the back. Quietly moving the container behind them, I throw sleeping gas under the table. One of them noticed it but shrugged it off, saying it was probably a roach or rat, while they all breathed in the sleeping gas and passed out.

Once they were out, I climbed onto the container that I was leaning on and moved towards the mobs that were inside the gun with the container. Getting on top of the container, I quickly checked around to see if any other mobs were nearby. Seeing that the coast was clear, I crawled inside the container and got behind the mob. I punched one of them in the temple, knocking him out, probably causing some brain damage, and kicked another in the knee, shattering his bones. I followed up with a punch to his face, taking him out before he could make a sound.

After leaving that container, I headed toward the ones with the drugs.

Coming closer, I noticed that two of the mobs inside the container were leaving with cigarettes in their hands.

"I'm gonna take a leak real quick," one said, heading to a corner of the warehouse.

Seizing the opportunity, I shot my hook and wrapped it around the neck of the one standing behind, pulling him up.

I grabbed his neck and punched him in the face, knocking him out, then left him on top of the container as I approached the other one.

I quietly moved behind him, waiting for him to finish and pull up his pants. As soon as he did, I sweep-kicked him, and while he was falling, I punched him in the face and slammed him to the ground.

With everyone in the warehouse taken care of except one, I headed toward the drug container for the last one. Just as I was about to enter...

{Sir, one of the mobs at the entrance is about to enter the warehouse,} Eden warned.

I didn't hide since I wanted the mobs to see me. Otherwise, how else would they know it was me, Fear me.

"Yo, Johnny, the boss says—" the mob began as he opened the warehouse door, but he stopped when he saw me.

"What the... Hey, who the fuck are you?" He shouted, aiming his gun at me.

"AYO, freak alert! We got a fucker dressed as a demon or bat or some shit here!" he yelled, alerting the others, who quickly gathered around.

*Bang*

As I focused on the mobs in front of me, a gunshot echoed behind me as I felt an impact behind my head. Turning around, I saw the last drug mob standing behind me with a gun in his hand.

*Thud*

I just punched him in the face and sidestepped as he fell.

"You'll regret crossing the Falcon family, freak. Jump his ass, boys."

*RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT*

They all started shooting at me, so I quickly raised my cape to shield myself from their bullets—not that their bullets could ever penetrate my suit, but there was no need for them to know.

I dropped a smoke bomb to the ground and did a combat roll as the mobs fired at the remaining drug mob instead of me since they couldn't see me.

I shot a hook to the ceiling, pulled myself up, and grabbed the ceiling with my hand while pointing my hook at one of the mobs. I yanked him up, grabbed him by the neck, and headbutted him, knocking him out before I threw him at one of the other mobs as I glided toward the ground. I glide-kicked one of them, sending him crashing into the wall, breaking both the wall and his bones.

I shot my hook at one of the last two mobs and pulled him toward me. As I extended my arm, I struck his head with my forearm, flipping him in the air before he landed awkwardly on his neck, breaking it. It wasn't fatal, but he was highly likely paralyzed.

With only one mob left, I moved inside the smoke, waiting for it to clear to give myself a dramatic effect with bodies scattered around me while I stood menacingly.

Well, there is also the sleeping mob, while he wake up the moment the first gun is shot. He didn't move, just huddled in the corner, covering his mouth with his hand, watching everything while trembling in fear.

As the smoke cleared, the mob finally saw me. His face turned pale. "Wha...don't...don't come here," he dropped his gun and tried to run. But I leaped and grabbed him by the neck.

"*Aaghkk* What...the hell...are...you?" He gasped, struggling as I tightened my grip.

"I am Batman."

*Crack*

I said it loud enough for the guy in the corner to hear before I snapped the neck of the mob, a sickening, bone-chilling sound of bones cracking echoed inside the warehouse.

My first kill since I was reborn, pity I actually didn't want to kill this one because I didn't want to kill unless I needed to. I didn't want to become the mindless killer I was before, but I had to send a message that I was willing to dirty my hands if necessary.

I turned to the mob in the corner, and as our gazes met, he squirmed in his hand and just closed his eyes and cried while pissing himself.

{Sir, a jewelry store is being robbed.}

The night is still young.
