Delayed Transfer

Chapter 396

Looking at all the computers that were connected to the servers at the back and were able to run the Star Wars The Old online game without any noticeable issues, Mark felt good. He was thankful for the very detailed instructions left by the programmers that Sam hired and the instructions even contained video clips on how to run the game on a private server. The fact that the SWTOR resources that he had were complete amazed Mark and wondered how the programmers slash hackers managed to acquire them.

Thinking about it, he guessed that the ungodly amount of money that he and Sam paid the programmers slash hackers made what he felt like impossible back then possible.

Of course, Mark would still need to conduct testing on all of the computers and would probably need to ask Hamil to find players who could spend a humongous amount of time playing the game, at least for the next few days.

Mark would also need to make sure that either Hamil or some of the other circus leaders played the game so they would know the exact amount they could charge customers who wanted to play the game. He also thought they would need to include a couple of customers to do the testing of the game.

After doing some finishing touches, Mark immediately stored the computers and the servers in his inventory and replicated them to make sure that the original set of computers and servers would be in his inventory and could copy it anytime so even if the thirteen computers all broke down or got destroyed, he could copy the whole internet café without any issues.

The manager’s computer had two monitors, one for the game and one for the program that would run the time clock for each of the eight customer computers. After that, he left the login screen for the game on the eight computers. He also made sure that the game could only be exited to the login screen and that the customers would not be able to see the operating system.

That meant that if a customer wanted to register for an account to play the Star Wars The Old Republic online game, they would need to do so on the manager’s computer. He knew that it would be tedious but since there were only eight computers, it would be manageable.

After a while, Hamil, the elven sisters, and Lorendo entered the internet café together with Milena, the twins, and Liriel.

“The kids missed you,” Milena simply said.

The children ran to him and hugged him, which greatly warmed Mark’s heart then the boys noticed the screen in the computers showing the login portal for the Star Wars The Old Republic game.

“Mark what is that!” Isaac asked.

“That’s the Star Wars The Old Republic Online Game that customers could play here,” Mark answered.

“So it’s done?” Hamil asked while looking at the computer screens.

“The setup is done but we would still need to conduct testing for at least three or four days. I need exactly nine people to conduct the testing. One of them would be the manager of the café. I also recommend that some of the circus leaders test the game and a couple of actual customers. The circus leaders would know the best price we could charge customers after playing the game and the actual customer could give feedback,” Mark said.

“What are the manager’s responsibilities?” The elven sisters asked.

Mark led everyone in front of the manager’s computer with two monitors.

“The manager, of course, can play the game since he or she would need to be familiar with the game as well. They would also need to monitor the customer’s time on the computer which would be shown on this program that is being shown on the second monitor. The manager would also need to manage the cleanliness of the café making sure that the place is always clean. The manager didn’t need to clean the place themselves but could hire an outside resource to do that. They also would need to assist the customers if they had questions regarding the game. The manager would also be the one who would assist the customer to register for an account so the customers could play the game.”

Mark saw that everyone was thinking deeply.

“I need to rest for a few hours so please gather the people that would conduct the testing. I’ll be back here after three or four hours,” Mark said.

After that, Mark headed to Milena’s convenience store so he could replicate the items that she would sell for the day, he also ate breakfast there while the children pestered him on allowing them to play the online game.

“What about our plan of inviting your friends from Narcone to see the Star Wars films? Hamil already announced the date of the conventions which is a week from now so that meant that we could go ahead and go to Narcone to distribute your invitation cards to your friends.”

“When are we going to do that?” Aaron asked.

“Probably tomorrow since I will still need to stay here to check up on the internet café,” Mark answered and the twins said okay.

“Are you going to let us play the game though?” Isaac persisted.

“I’m sorry kids. The game has mature content and only thirteen years old and above can play it,” Mark said to the twins.

Mark could see the severe disappointment on the twins' faces but after a few moments, the disappointment disappeared and instead, the boys focused on their upcoming event of inviting their friends to join the Star Wars convention which was highly mature of them. The boys knew that Mark would also allow their friends to watch the movies for free including the orphans in the Drovan Town orphanage so they were looking forward to that event. He then went back to his RV to sleep for a few hours. After about three hours, Mark woke up refreshed and noticed that he was alone inside the RV so he went back to the Internet café.

He was sure that the kids were playing outside and he wasn’t worried since someone should be looking after them. When Mark arrived at the café, he noticed that nobody was inside but then he saw one of the guards run off, probably to tell the others that he was back. While waiting for the others to arrive, Mark checked the status of the servers and the generator and everything looked like they were running without any issues. He then retrieved some Star Wars The Old Republic Paraphernalia like huge character cardboard cutouts and placed them in the surroundings. He also hung some large SWTOR posters on the tent walls and was glad that the tent walls were thick and sturdy enough that the posters could hang without any problem.

Hamil, the three elven sisters, Lorendo and Dozon, followed by eight people arrived. Everyone was surprised at the decoration that surrounded the café. Mark recognized all of the people that came in except for a couple of young men and based on their talk earlier, they were probably the customer who agreed to conduct the game testing.

“Before we conduct the test, let’s have a meeting first,” Mark led everyone to sofa chairs with a coffee table that he placed in one of the corner areas.

Mark asked the two customers to step outside for a few minutes and told them that he would invite them back once they were done with the meeting and the two young men agreed and left.
