Deva Wizard: The Great Xian in King Arthur's Realm

Chapter 8: The Maze

Boom!

The magic waterball slammed into the tree thunderously. And as a result of its strength, the tree fell down.

Merlin, who stood there just before, disappeared without a trace.

“Misty Moon.” This was one of the Moon Spring techniques.

Merlin’s body moved swiftly. His speed was so brisk that what the enemies were seeing was just an afterimage before it faded away.

“No way…he’s gone”

“You fool! That was too loud, the master’s going to...” He barely finished the sentence then the voice of an old lady blurted out.

“Why are you guys sneaking out here?”

The moon washed on the scene, revealing the figure of an old woman wearing an antiquated cloak. With a cane, she walked out of a corner. Her eyes were too formidable to be those of any ordinary old woman.

“Master...Glory” Seeing this old lady, the three culprits were all shocked.

“Well…yes, it’s me. You guys must have some courage to have invaded my territory in the middle of the night like this. Trying to steal my mandrakes, weren’t you guys?” slowly uttered the master’s hoarse voice. Glancing at these kids, she already knew what they were thinking.

“It is not like that, Master Glory. We got lost.” A boy burst out his lies.

“You guys have some guts to lie in my face!” Glory shouted ferociously. Suddenly a strange gust of wind fluttered out extensively; it was called the magical pressure.

Zoooooom!

Exhausted, the three young boys collapsed onto the ground.

The old lady’s magic pressure was intense and powerful; it showed off her superior skills. Certainly, her position in this academy had to be significant.

These three boys were only magic practitioners, Glory needed not to use any spells. All it took to bring them down was just the magical pressure.

Merlin realized that if he stayed there any longer, he was going to get busted. Glory was too strong. So, to avoid all the commotions, he fled.

Glory glanced at where Merlin was standing before, with her skills, she was aware of Merlin’s being there. But she did not really care.

This was not the first time students attempted to steal her herbs. She then turned back to the three. Their plan was not successful; no herbs got stolen.

Glory gave them a fair punishment. It was far from cruel: just a class-point deduction. And after that she let the three go.

Merlin leaped up using his levitation art; then he quickly jumped to the other side. His present speed was as decent as a fast horse.

The treetops that his feet touched barely made any sound. It showed how high of an art levitation was.

Merlin was thinking that that botanical garden had to indeed have some precious herbs. Or else the old lady would not have been so protective of it.

This realm was crammed with cats and their hidden claws: aces and prominent individuals were everywhere. With his skills now, he still should not compete with anyone.

Although he used to be a high-rank practitioner back in time, Tian Long barely had any experience getting in action with anyone. His practice was unadventurous.

He shut his practicing gate and was rarely involved or got in a fight with anybody. His gate-shutting almost erased his existence from the disciples’ memories.

However, when he was cultivating in a Qi accumulation stage, he, at forty years old, created a sword art for his survival.

It was called the “Ashes and Embers Sword Technique.”

His Ashes and Embers technique consisted of just 4 forms.

He had once utilized this sword dance to combat people and survive. The higher his cultivation level was, the better this sword dance would be able to unlock its exploding, earth-shaking abilities. With him gently drawing the sword, he could cut through a rock as if it were a banana stalk. And he could kill enemies without touching them. These explained why it was such a vicious, powerful sword dance.

After his escape, Merlin went straight into the deep forest in the opposite direction to Waldecian Academy. He unceasingly leaped around to find a peaceful place for him to remote himself and practice his cultivation.

Mountains and forests were acquaintances to practitioners.

Jumping from treetop to treetop without a direction drew Merlin deeper and deeper into the forest.

Just then, he found a strange location that seemed like an ancient landscape.

Right in front of him lay a stream of magical power working like a fortress blocking outsiders from entering.

This fortress looked like a spotless piece of glass. Its rich magical power shined out formidably. It did not allow people who possessed magical powers to get in. It was made especially for obstructing the wizards.

Merlin had no idea that this fortress worked formerly as an illusory camouflage wall. Many wizards from Waldecian were unable to find this place.

This powerful magical power could conceal even an Archwizard.

There was no way a magic practitioner could ever get into this place, but Merlin found it.

Probably there was a glitch. This fortress only protected itself from wizards, but it did not have an effect on someone without a magical power like Merlin.

This place was located in the middle of the forest. If a powerless person ever got lost, he or she would never find their way to here since this forest had loads of dangerous beasts.

Surely enough, normal people could never fight their way into this place. So, it had never been discovered before.

Fortunately, Merlin had completely distilled all his magical power into Xian vital essence. Because he did not want his Qi pillars to have any defects.

Therefore, before entering the stem-building zone, he would not practice the magical power. His body, consequently, was magical-power-free.

Moreover, it was lucky that he was using the levitation art to stay above treetops. So, he was able to avoid the beasts in the forest.

With all the qualities that went perfectly hand in hand, Merlin passed all the conditions and got to this place.

Merlin effortlessly passed through the fortress.

After crossing the gate, he found that inside this archaic place, there lay a spacious land—so great that it seemed like a different dimension. In front of him right now, there was no longer the scene of the forest. It turned out to be the old walls oozing the sense of ancientness.

These walls stood as tall as ten meters, and it seemed that where he was standing was just the entrance.

In front of him was an arched entrance: its delicacy was so dazzling that it almost seemed like the gate was trying to lure him in.

Of course, Merlin had to explore the inside.

He unhesitantly leaped passed the entrance.

But not even ten meters had Merlin reached, in a heartbeat, rain of arrows flew towards him.

Heavens! This place was a trap!

It was such a ruthless trap for normal people without magical powers.

Luckily, Merlin had achieved level three of Qi accumulation. At this level of cultivation, his speed had become tremendously faster. And together with his Moon Spring, Merlin was able to dodge all those arrows.

He jumped through the shower of arrows quickly. His speed and accuracy were beyond any people’s abilities. And finally, he got to the next area.

Following two hundred meters into the pathway, Merlin came across some gigantic human statues. They, all-four-meters-tall, were made out of rocks. Their bodies were covered in verdant mosses implying that they had been here for forever.

When those statues sensed an invader, their eyes shined out the red glare.

Hundreds of rock giants that had been frozen for ten thousand years started to move.

They synchronously turned to look at Merlin, the invader.

Zoom! Zoom! Zoom! Zoom!

Merlin got goosebumps all over his body; his eyes were saying that he was scared.

Then, with no signs given, suddenly the rock giants were all running speedily closer to attack Merlin. They were all moving remarkably briskly; it was unexpected for their builds which seemed to be incapable of moving this fast.

Just like a troop of monkey kings, they were moving agilely.

This seemed absurd. Rocky—gigantic—humans should not be moving this fast!

Now there were hundreds of rock giants in front of Merlin, ready to take him down. And behind him, there was still the arrow trap throwing arrows like rain. This place was full of inhuman traps.

Merlin barely had any time to think, a huge wave of giants came rolling in almost reaching him.

At that moment, Merlin decided to use Moon Spring to lift himself up to the tall, steep wall.

If it was an ordinary, magically powerless person in that situation, he or she would never make it out alive.

Too bad, it would not be him this time. Merlin continued climbing on the walls using his Moon Spring. He used this method to avoid dangers from both sides.

And as he reached the top, what stood before him was…

-A maze-

There appeared in front of him, a maze with a radius of several kilometers. Staring at the center of it, Merlin noticed a bright energy that was shining out so dazzlingly.

He had no idea what it was. But right now, nothing could stop Merlin’s thirst for discovery.

Not long after Merlin had reached the top, without a chance to rest and breathe, he heard a thunderous sound echoing all over the place.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Turning to the direction where it came from, Merlin could not help cursing.

“Bloody bastards! Those rock giants are climbing on each other to get up here!”
