Chapter 12: TWISTED SEARCH 2
I felt a surge of fear as I turned to face Elizabeth. What did she want from me? And why was she holding me back?
"Let me go," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
Elizabeth smiled, her eyes glinting with amusement. "Not yet," she said. "You need to hear what I have to say."
I tried to struggle free, but Elizabeth's grip was like a vice. I was trapped.
"Okay," I said, trying to calm down. "What do you want to tell me?"
Elizabeth leaned in close, her voice barely above a whisper. "Your mom is not who you think she is," she said. "She's been hiding secrets from you, secrets that could change your life forever."
I felt a surge of curiosity. What secrets could my mom be hiding? And why was Elizabeth telling me this?
"What secrets?" I demanded, trying to keep my voice steady.
Elizabeth smiled again, her eyes glinting with amusement. "That's for me to know and you to find out," she said.
I felt a surge of frustration. Why was Elizabeth being so cryptic? And why was she teasing me with hints of secrets and lies?
"Tell me," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
Elizabeth leaned in close, her voice barely above a whisper. "Meet me at the old warehouse on 5th and Main at midnight," she said. "And come alone."
I felt a surge of fear. What was Elizabeth planning? And why did she want me to meet her at an abandoned warehouse in the middle of the night?
But I knew I had to go. I had to know the truth about my mom and the secrets she had been hiding.
"I'll be there," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
Elizabeth smiled again, her eyes glinting with amusement. "I knew you would," she said.
And with that, she let me go. I stumbled out of the antique shop, my mind reeling with questions and fears.
What was Elizabeth planning? And what secrets had my mom been hiding?
I knew I had to find out. I knew I had to go to that warehouse and confront Elizabeth.
But as I walked away from the shop, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was walking into a trap.
