Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Chaos
"I'm thinking of a regeneration power. Let me figure this out. Vampire Physique? Or maybe Wolverine's regeneration?" Rozen mused aloud, touching his chin thoughtfully.
Vampire? But it comes with the weakness of sunlight. Wolverine? That's a good idea, but if I remember correctly, Wolverine can still die if he's decapitated. Hmm, Deadpool's regeneration is strong, but it's tied to his cancer.
"What do you think, Great Sage? Which regeneration power would be best for me right now?" With no other options, Rozen decided to ask his assistant.
[Answer: After analyzing Master's memories, particularly those related to fictional stories, a suitable character has been found. From the anime In/Spectre, there is a character named Kuro Sakuragawa. He possesses both immortality and rapid regeneration, making his power well-suited for Master's needs.]
At the same time, Great Sage provided the memory of the character, and Rozen immediately recalled all the details.
I see, Kuro Sakuragawa, the main protagonist who gained immortality, rapid regeneration, and even Foresight after surviving by consuming yokai flesh in his childhood.
After pondering for a moment, Rozen finally decided to choose this character's power. In his opinion, it was the perfect regeneration ability compared to the others.
However, a problem quickly surfaced...
How do I access the power?!
Rozen slapped the bed hard, causing a loud thump, and then hissed in pain as a result.
Great, now I'm stuck on how to activate it. If he remembered correctly, the requirement for accessing a character's power was to recreate the scene where the character gained or used it.
And that's where the real issue lay! The only scenes where this power was activated involved the character being severely injured or even dying. Rozen was very hesitant—no, he was downright scared to recreate those scenes.
Because of this, Rozen kept consulting with Great Sage for quite a while. But as he was discussing, he suddenly felt a massive tremor.
The vibration was so strong that even his sturdy bed started shaking, and the metal cell itself trembled violently.
The impact caused Rozen to fall off the bed. He quickly stood up in surprise. "What's happening? Is this an earthquake?"
[Notice: A large amount of Honkai Energy has been detected in the distance! It's highly likely that a Herrscher has emerged there! Master is advised to escape immediately!]
"What?!" Rozen couldn't help but feel shocked. He never imagined a calamity would occur so soon after his arrival.
Not even one day here yet! God, are you messing with me?!
He grumbled inwardly, but his complaints were pointless given the current situation.
Moments later, the sound of hurried footsteps approached quickly, and Bruce appeared, drenched in cold sweat, holding a key in his hand.
"Kid! I'm getting you out of here! Don't forget to evacuate and save yourself as quickly as possible!" Bruce shouted as he unlocked the cell door and swung it open.
"But, sir—"
"Hurry and get out of here, kid! There's no time to hesitate now!" Bruce grabbed Rozen forcefully, pulling him out and pushing him forward, before rushing off to free the other detainees.
"Thank you, sir!" Rozen shouted, bowing his head to Bruce before sprinting away. As he ran through the office, he noticed it was completely empty, with the place left in disarray as if it had been hit by a storm.
It seemed that all the officers had already evacuated, except for Bruce, who still cared about the prisoners left behind.
Rozen sighed in admiration. It seemed that Bruce—or Batman, in any world—is always a good-hearted hero.
"There is Banana, here? let's take it then," Rozen muttered, pocketing a banana before continuing his escape.
When he reached the lobby, he saw the glass door shattered. This made him extremely wary—the chaos outside was worse than he had imagined.
"Kyaaah!!! Help!!!"
"Someone please help me, please!!! I don't want to die!!!"
"Mommy! Mommy! Where are you?! Uwaaaah... "
"Oh God! Is the world going through a doomsday outbreak right now?!" Rozen exclaimed in shock, witnessing the chaos unfold before him.
The air was filled with various cries and wails of panic, fear, and pain. Flames and blood were visible everywhere he looked.
It was no wonder he thought a doomsday outbreak was happening right in front of his eyes. With a scene like this, anyone would assume that a deadly disaster was taking place.
[Notice! It has been detected that Master's Honkai radiation erosion level has reached 30%. Please access a regeneration ability immediately before it's too late!]
"What?! This isn't good! I didn't realize the erosion had become this severe due to the rushed situation!" Rozen muttered with a grim expression.
Should I do it? Should I let myself to get severe injuries or even death right now?
While he was caught in his dilemma, he suddenly heard a familiar voice. He turned around and saw Clark, Bruce's junior officer, trying to rescue someone trapped under a heavy object.
"Hold on, ma'am! I'll lift this to save you now! Haa!!!" Clark, with his strong, muscular build, strained himself to lift the heavy object.
"Wooo... Mommy! Mommy!" a little girl was crying, holding her mother's hand that was pinned beneath the debris.
It seems that Clark, just like Bruce, is a hero no matter which world they're in!
Rozen thought to himself as he rushed over to help Clark, who was struggling.
"Let me help you, sir!"
"Huh? You're that funny kid from earlier!" Clark recognized Rozen, who simply smiled and then used all his strength to lift the object together.
Thanks to Rozen's help, they managed to lift the debris, freeing the trapped woman.
"Thank you! Thank you! If it weren't for both of you, I wouldn't have made it!" the woman cried, hugging her daughter tightly and bowing repeatedly to the two men.
"Don't worry about it. Now, you two need to get out of here quickly and evacuate! It's too dangerous to stay here any longer!" Clark urged, and the mother and daughter quickly thanked them before fleeing in the direction he pointed.
"Kid! You should evacuate immediately!" Clark shouted, his expression serious.
"No, sir! Let me help you too! I can't just stand by and watch others struggle or be in danger!" Rozen replied with a determined look in his eyes. Seeing this, Clark felt a headache coming on, but he knew that trying to convince Rozen to leave now would be pointless.
With a sigh of resignation, Clark said, "Alright, kid. You can help, but remember! You need to leave quickly if the situation gets worse!" Rozen nodded quickly in agreement.
And so, the duo of Clark and Rozen busied themselves amidst the chaotic crowd. They rescued people trapped under debris, reunited lost children with their parents, and more.
Until finally...
"And this is the last person!" Rozen shouted as he pushed away a heavy object, then helped the trapped victim to stand.
"Thank you! Thank you!" The victim said gratefully. Rozen just nodded with a smile before urging them to leave quickly.
[Notice! Master's Honkai radiation erosion has reached 50%. Please address this immediately!]
"Already at 50%?" Rozen muttered, looking at his hand, which had turned pale, with strange purple lines resembling USB cables spreading across his skin.
But then suddenly...
THUD!
Rozen turned toward the sound and saw Clark collapse. He rushed over immediately. "Sir! Are you okay?!"
When he got there, he found Clark lying weak and helpless, his entire skin pale like a corpse, with purple lines spreading all over his body.
"Oh my god! Sir! Y-you..." Rozen stuttered, seeing his condition.
"I'm dying, right?" Clark replied weakly, looking up at Rozen. Rozen nodded with a sorrowful expression.
"Hey, kid... Leave me here and get out of this place quickly..."
"But sir... Your condition..."
"Go now! You promised you'd leave if the situation got worse. So hurry up and go! This is an order from an adult!" Rozen clenched his fist, unwilling, but then he released it after a moment. He took a deep breath before standing up.
Good... With this, a kind-hearted kid like you won't die in a place like this.
Clark thought to himself, but just as he expected Rozen to run away, he was shocked when Rozen instead lifted him up and carried him on his back.
"You kid..."
"I won't leave a friend to die so easily, sir! It would haunt my conscience! Besides, there's no way I'd let a hero like you die just like that!" Hearing this, Clark could only remain silent and smile weakly.
Carrying Clark on his back was a heavy burden for Rozen, but he persisted, determined to save him.
[Notice: Clark's physical radiation erosion has reached 95%. It is recommended to leave him behind. As it may already be too late to save him.]
Shut up, Great Sage! It's not too late yet! With my cheat powers, there must be a way to heal and reverse the Honkai erosion!
And Rozen was right—there was indeed a power that could solve this situation, which Great Sage found almost immediately.
[Notice: A healing power called Sōten Kisshun has been identified. This ability is well-suited for the current situation.]
It's Orihime's power from the anime Bleach! Alright, let's give it a try! I hope I can access it and remove the Honkai energy erosion from his body!
Fortunately, activating the power was simple—it only required Rozen to say a single word.
"I'm going to set you down, sir, so I can heal you," Rozen said as he gently lowered Clark to the ground, under the confused gaze of the officer.
"Sōten Kisshun!" Rozen shouted confidently. In the next moment, two small hairpin-like objects materialized in his hair and flew toward Clark, forming an oval barrier of light that enveloped his body.
"This...?" Clark stared in shock, but Rozen just gave a mysterious smile. As the healing ability took effect, Clark's pale skin gradually regained its healthy color, and the purple Honkai lines slowly faded away until they disappeared completely.
After that, Rozen used the healing power on himself, removing the Honkai erosion from his body. Seeing the erosion status disappear, he let out a sigh of relief.
Arghh!!! If I knew it was this effective, why didn't I use it from the start?! I can't believe I didn't think of this!
He grumbled to himself, annoyed for being too focused on finding a physical regeneration power.
Rozen shook his head to clear those thoughts, then looked at Clark, who had already woken up and was examining his own body in amazement and disbelief. "Alright then, sir, we need to get out of here quickly!"
Clark turned to him and nodded immediately. The two of them sprinted away as fast as they could, heading toward the evacuation zone.
Unfortunately, luck wasn't on their side, because...
"Watch out!" Clark shouted loudly, shoving Rozen away just in time before being hit hard by a sudden, rapid attack from the side.
BOOM!
"Sir!" Rozen screamed as thick smoke obscured his vision. When the smoke finally cleared, he was left stunned, staring blankly at Clark's lifeless, broken body, severely injured and slumped against a cracked building wall in front of him.
(A/N: I'm tired of seeing so many fanfics where the MC is an evil character or an anti-hero.
That's why in this novel, my MC has a good personality, more like a hero, though not as noble as you might think—he won't be the type to sacrifice himself for the greater good or for humanity as a whole, but he will still help someone in need if he sees them or if they seem truly miserable.
However, when it comes to family or friends, he's absolutely willing to lay down his life. If you're still unsure, just think of Kim Dokja; I've shaped my character's personality to be as similar to his as possible.)
