Chapter 159: Chapter 158: Teaching Xian Lin’er a New Move
What's so special about Qian Ran?
Why does everyone fawn over him?
Even Xian Lin'er was now on Qian Ran's side; perhaps only his ancestor truly cared about him at Shrek Academy.
This monster! Why did Qian Ran have to come to Shrek Academy and ruin things for him? Why didn't he go to the Sun and Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy instead?
If it weren't for Qian Ran, Tang Ya would be his, Zhang Lexuan would be his, and Xian Lin'er would still regard him highly. Even if his ancestor passed on, he could still live the good life at Shrek Academy.
"I'm exhausted," Xian Lin'er sighed, wiping away the light sheen of sweat and tossing the whip aside.
Bei Bei was now half-unconscious, barely able to make a sound. Without his reactions, Xian Lin'er lost interest. She wouldn't actually kill Bei Bei, as that would bring trouble for both her and Qian Ran.
"Hehe, you worked hard, my love," Qian Ran said, planting a kiss on Xian Lin'er's cheek.
"I told you before—if anyone at the academy bothers you, I'll handle it for you," Xian Lin'er leaned against the lab table, smiling at Qian Ran.
"So, what do we do with Bei Bei?"
Qian Ran looked at the beaten, battered Bei Bei, almost feeling sorry for him.
Poor guy was constantly backstabbed. Lucky for him, he hadn't gone to complain to Zhou Yi—she might have turned on him too.
Such a pity. This is what happens when you challenge me, Qian Ran thought. Being smarter from the start would've been much better.
"Master, you're so wicked—I'm amazed," Qian Ran teased Xian Lin'er, laughing.
"You're still acting smug? If it weren't for you, I'd never do something so unbecoming of my status," Xian Lin'er gave Qian Ran a flirtatious look.
Qian Ran felt a shiver at her gaze. This woman was getting bolder, more willing to let go of her inhibitions.
Seeing her like this, he lifted her onto the lab table.
"What are you doing?"
Xian Lin'er was deeply in love with Qian Ran, openly affectionate around him. But she still had her principles. As she'd said before, until her divorce from Qian Duoduo was finalized, she wouldn't let Qian Ran take things too far.
"You don't get a say."
Hearing this, Xian Lin'er blushed, speechless.
"If I get athlete's foot, this will be a disaster," Qian Ran remembered an old story he'd read, about people somehow contracting athlete's foot in their mouths. He couldn't fathom what those people had done.
"Are you calling me dirty?"
"You're the one with athlete's foot!"
Infuriated, Xian Lin'er leapt off the table, ready to leave.
"No, don't go! I was only joking; I apologize. My Xian Lin'er is so clean, I could kiss you straight away—how could I ever think otherwise?" Realizing his slip, Qian Ran quickly pulled her back.
If he upset Xian Lin'er, he'd lose this blessing in his life.
"Hmph! You still want to… you…" Xian Lin'er's face turned red at Qian Ran's audacity. Though she was accustomed to his bold words, he still found ways to make her flustered.
"You should handle Bei Bei now. We need to leave. This underground lab is restricted, only accessible to sixth-level soul engineers and above. If someone needs to use it soon, we'll be in trouble," Xian Lin'er gave Qian Ran a playful look.
"You go hide in the other room; I'll clean up Bei Bei and get him into fresh clothes." Qian Ran nudged Xian Lin'er toward a small adjoining room meant as a rest area for researchers.
Qian Ran activated his martial spirit, releasing waves of golden holy light over Bei Bei's body, healing his injuries. He also removed Bei Bei's bloodstained clothes, dressing him in clean attire.
If he were a "second-generation elite" at Shrek, using his status to his advantage without necessarily causing trouble, he could acquire many resources. He could do as he pleased, but this fool, Bei Bei, didn't even know how to use his own resources. He wasn't even a proper antagonist—how disappointing.
No wonder Bei Bei, despite all his advantages, was still just another student. There really was something wrong with his head.
Real heirs didn't sit still and train all day.
Qian Ran could understand why some main characters managed to rise against all odds. With opponents like Bei Bei, success was almost guaranteed.
Bei Bei was a fool, only fit to be with ordinary girls. As for those stunning beauties, he had no chance.
But Qian Ran was different. He had the ability, so the more, the merrier.
"Do you think Bei Bei's complaints to Mu En will affect you and Lexuan?"
"Afraid? Mu En won't believe a word he says. Bei Bei has a history of causing trouble. I'm Mu En's disciple and have earned his trust over the years. The same goes for Lexuan—Mu En trusts her as well." Xian Lin'er waved off his concern.
She knew Mu En too well. He didn't hold Bei Bei in high regard; if not for their bloodline connection, he wouldn't bother with him at all. Even if Bei Bei went to complain, Mu En would likely assume he was lying.
In Mu En's eyes, Zhang Lexuan and Xian Lin'er were far more reliable than an erratic person like Bei Bei.
