Chapter 4: Become a disciple and be crowned as a Title Douluo
"Give... give me a master?"
Ye Feng was stunned. He had just been silently lamenting how Tang San had a father who was a Titled Douluo, and now the system had unexpectedly gifted him a master. And not just any master—a Titled Douluo-level master!
Swoosh!
The sound of something cutting through the air echoed. A figure descended from the sky.
The figure was an old man. He wore a spotless, snow-white robe. His hair and beard were as white as snow, and his long silver hair was neatly combed back. His face was unblemished, with the delicate features of a baby, and his expression was serene. His eyes seemed indifferent to the world around him. He stood quietly, speaking no words, yet his very presence emanated a sense of absolute dominance—as though he was the center of the universe.
The old man landed gracefully, stepping onto the soil of Holy Soul Village. His gaze swept across his surroundings before settling on Ye Feng.
Ye Feng froze, his eyes locked on the old man who had suddenly appeared.
Swoosh!
Before Ye Feng could gather his thoughts, another figure broke through the wind. A man leapt from the rooftop of a nearby house, landing silently beside the old man.
This second person was a middle-aged man. His features were elegant, with a jade-like face, a straight nose, and well-defined lips. He exuded a noble and refined aura. Clad in an equally spotless white robe, he carried himself with a casual grace, his long, jet-black hair flowing freely behind him. Despite his simplicity, his presence felt unshakably dignified.
"Uncle Jian, is it here?" the middle-aged man asked.
"It was just here. Why has it suddenly vanished?" The old man's voice was calm yet sharp, like the edge of a blade cutting through the air.
Uncle Jian?
Ye Feng's mind raced upon hearing the middle-aged man address the elder as "Uncle Jian." He began to connect the dots.
Among the Titled Douluo of the world, few possessed such a commanding aura, with hair as white as snow and the ability to soar through the skies atop a sword. Only one name surfaced in Ye Feng's mind: Sword Douluo Chen Xin, the guardian of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan.
Ye Feng's gaze shifted to the middle-aged man. His noble bearing and elegant demeanor could only belong to one person: Ning Fengzhi, the sect master of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan.
"It must be the day for the awakening ceremonies in these villages," Ning Fengzhi mused, his voice thoughtful. "Could the source of the fluctuation have already left?"
"I don't believe so," Sword Douluo Chen Xin replied, his sharp gaze narrowing as it landed on Ye Feng.
Earlier, while passing near Holy Soul Village, Sword Douluo Chen Xin had sensed a peculiar energy fluctuation. As someone with a deep connection to swords, he immediately recognized that the source of this fluctuation was a powerful sword-type martial soul. Its aura rivaled even his own Seven Kill Sword.
His curiosity piqued, Chen Xin and Ning Fengzhi had descended upon the Martial Spirit Hall in Holy Soul Village.
"Soul power... rank 30!" Ning Fengzhi's voice carried a mix of shock and excitement as he scrutinized Ye Feng.
"Rank 30?" Ye Feng froze, utterly stunned.
He had just awakened his martial soul and had yet to learn how to conceal his soul power. Under Ning Fengzhi's discerning gaze, his astonishing innate rank of 30 had been laid bare.
The realization struck Ye Feng like lightning. So this was why the system hadn't immediately rewarded him earlier—his innate soul power exceeded even Qian Renxue's, rendering him ineligible for certain system-triggered rewards.
"Child, what is your martial soul? Show it to me," Sword Douluo Chen Xin said, his tone calm but commanding, leaving no room for refusal.
"Alright." Ye Feng smiled slightly and extended his right hand. A jade-like flower materialized in his palm—the Nine Heart Begonia.
"Nine Heart Begonia?" Ning Fengzhi's eyes widened in disbelief.
As the sect master of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, Ning Fengzhi was intimately familiar with auxiliary martial souls. His own Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda was renowned as the greatest auxiliary martial soul on the continent. However, he knew the truth—there existed a martial soul superior even to his pagoda: the legendary Nine Heart Begonia.
Yet, as Ning Fengzhi examined Ye Feng's martial soul more closely, doubt flickered in his eyes. "No, this isn't the Nine Heart Begonia. The appearance is similar, but the color and texture are entirely different."
Indeed, Ye Feng's flower martial soul lacked the vivid hues of the Nine Heart Begonia. Instead, it was translucent, as if carved from pristine jade, exuding an ethereal brilliance.
Despite this, both Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo Chen Xin could sense that Ye Feng's martial soul possessed quality and potential that surpassed even the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda.
"Child," Sword Douluo Chen Xin interjected, "I wasn't referring to your auxiliary martial soul. I meant your sword martial soul. Summon it for me."
"A sword martial soul?" Ning Fengzhi's expression turned to one of sheer amazement. "Uncle Jian, are you saying... this child possesses twin martial souls?"
"Indeed," Chen Xin confirmed, his voice tinged with restrained excitement. His gaze on Ye Feng burned with intensity.
Twin martial souls! A phenomenon so rare it was practically unheard of. In the entire history of the Douluo Continent, only two known figures possessed twin martial souls, the most famous being Bibi Dong, the current Supreme Pontiff of the Spirit Hall.
Ye Feng's heart sank. He knew there was no hiding his secrets from these two powerful figures.
With a resigned sigh, he extended his left hand. A small golden sword emerged, floating above his palm.
The sword gleamed with divine radiance. Its blade was engraved with intricate patterns—sun, moon, stars, mountains, and rivers. The hilt bore carvings of pastoral life and strategies for unifying the world. Though no soul rings adorned the weapon, it radiated an unparalleled aura.
The air around Sword Douluo Chen Xin grew tense as his Seven Kill Sword martial soul trembled uncontrollably in response to Ye Feng's sword. It was as though it had encountered a presence far superior to itself.
"A twin martial soul...!" Ning Fengzhi gasped, his voice filled with awe. He stared at Ye Feng before blurting out, "Child, have you ever been engaged?"
"Engaged?!" Ye Feng and Sword Douluo Chen Xin turned to Ning Fengzhi, dumbfounded.
Realizing his blunder, Ning Fengzhi coughed awkwardly. "Ahem. I mean, where are your parents? Could I meet them?"
"My parents are dead," Ye Feng replied curtly.
Ning Fengzhi frowned slightly. Without parental consent, matchmaking would be... complicated. Nevertheless, the significance of a twin martial soul was too great to ignore.
"Child, what is your name?" Sword Douluo Chen Xin asked, his voice cutting through the awkward silence.
"Ye Feng. The 'Ye' of leaf, and the 'Feng' of peak," he replied calmly.
"Ye Feng," Chen Xin murmured, his tone uncharacteristically soft. "A name as extraordinary as your talent. It seems that today, even I, Sword Douluo Chen Xin, will have to make an exception."
An exception? Ye Feng blinked. Was Sword Douluo Chen Xin implying... he wanted to take him as a disciple?
