The dim forest was shrouded in tension.
Standing in the clearing, the Bear Hunter Spirit Master Group looked vigilant. Watching them from the shadows, Blood Bat sneered inwardly.
Such a small-time group with only one Spirit King, and they dare oppose us, the Evil Spirit Masters? Laughable.
"Capture all the prey and bring them back!" Blood Bat ordered, a sinister smile curling his lips.
At his command, a group of Evil Spirit Masters clad in black and crimson robes stepped forward. They summoned their martial spirits in unison—some wielding spirit weapons, others entering martial spirit possession states. Without hesitation, they charged at Lin Ye and his companions.
"Evil Spirit Masters! We've been waiting for you!"
Just as the black and crimson-robed figures reached the clearing, a cold voice echoed from above.
A black silhouette, with wings spread wide, appeared silently in the night sky. It was a middle-aged man clad in the uniform of the Spirit Hall. His body had already entered the martial spirit possession state, with golden-scaled gauntlets encasing his hands. Sharp talons extended from his eagle-like fingers, glinting ominously in the moonlight.
Seven spirit rings—yellow, yellow, purple, purple, black, black, black—rotated around him in an aura of authority.
"Third Spirit Skill: Rain of Feathered Blades!"
The man bellowed as his third spirit ring glowed brightly. His wings unfurled with a powerful flap, unleashing a barrage of golden feathers that shot downward like razor-sharp arrows.
The feathers rained mercilessly on the Evil Spirit Masters below, their whistling descent accompanied by sharp cries of pain.
"Ah!"
"Argh!"
"Gah!"
...
The golden blades pierced through the weaker Evil Spirit Masters—those below the rank of Spirit King—leaving them lifeless in a matter of seconds. Only defensive Spirit Masters or those at Spirit King level and above managed to survive, retreating hastily to avoid further onslaught.
"Spirit Hall! Why are you here?!" Blood Bat's expression twisted in shock as he shouted, his voice tinged with panic.
"Hmph! We've been orchestrating this charade for ages just to lure you out. Did you really think we wouldn't have everything planned?"
The Black Eagle Spirit Sage sneered from above, his disdain evident.
"Spirit Hall... you conniving scum! So this was all a setup?" Blood Bat growled through gritted teeth, his eyes locked on the Spirit Sage. "If you're here, then surely you didn't come alone!"
"Of course not!"
A booming voice echoed through the forest as a towering shadow charged out, carrying a gust of wind and an overwhelming pressure. The figure barreled toward Blood Bat like an unstoppable force.
"Die!"
"Boom!"
Blood Bat was sent flying before he could react, crashing into a large tree with a sickening thud. The tree shook violently under the impact as Blood Bat slid to the ground in a crumpled heap.
"Cough, cough…"
Blood Bat spat out blood as he struggled to stand. Despite his pain, he glared defiantly at his attacker. "You Spirit Hall bastards... resorting to ambushes now?"
The man who had struck him down laughed coldly, his disdain palpable. "Against scum like you, rules don't matter."
Lin Ye, watching from a safe distance, finally got a good look at the attacker.
It was a burly Spirit Master clad in black rock armor, his body bristling with needle-like spines. Two sharp tusks jutted from his mouth, and seven spirit rings—yellow, yellow, purple, purple, black, black, black—circled him.
A Spirit Sage, no doubt. Judging by his appearance in spirit possession, his martial spirit was the Rock Armor Wild Boar.
As the two Spirit Sages from Spirit Hall made their presence known, shadows began to emerge from the forest, one after another. They encircled the clearing, sealing off all escape routes.
Each figure bore six spirit rings, marking them as Spirit Emperors. The Evil Spirit Masters were now completely surrounded.
"Hmph, Blood Bat, isn't it?" The Rock Armor Wild Boar Spirit Sage sneered. "A new Evil Spirit Master? This time, you won't escape."
"Escape?" Blood Bat glanced around, a twisted smile forming on his face. "Twenty Spirit Emperors surrounding us, and a Spirit Sage blocking the skies. You really want to exterminate us, don't you?"
"You vermin have brought this upon yourselves," the Rock Armor Wild Boar Spirit Sage growled, his killing intent radiating. "You slaughter innocents for power. Vermin like you deserve no mercy!"
"Mercy?" Blood Bat chuckled darkly. "Let's see if you have what it takes to back up those words!"
"Bloodthirsty Bat, Possession!"
Blood Bat roared as a crimson shadow emerged from his body and fused into him. His form elongated, blood-red fur sprouting across his skin. Razor-sharp claws extended from his hands, and long, deadly fangs grew from his mouth.
Seven spirit rings—yellow, yellow, purple, purple, black, black, black—rose from his feet, revolving around him menacingly.
"A Spirit Sage, huh? No wonder you survived my attack," the Rock Armor Wild Boar Spirit Sage remarked with a cold smile.
"Just a bat martial spirit? You think you can challenge me?" scoffed the Black Eagle Spirit Sage from above. "Even among Spirit Sages, you're nothing but a weakling in my domain."
"Spirit Hall! Always so full of yourselves!" Blood Bat spat. "We Evil Spirit Masters live and die under constant pursuit. You pampered Spirit Hall fools could never understand our struggles!"
At Blood Bat's command, the remaining Evil Spirit Masters rallied around him.
"For Lord Blood Infant, charge! Let's see if Spirit Hall can stop us!"
