Douluo's Spiritual Pearl and Divine Sword

Chapter 44: chapter 44

"Well, although Zhilin's words seem negative, they are not entirely wrong" Bai Baoshan shook his head, clearly unwilling to accept the situation.

But Meng Shenji had a different perspective "It doesn't matter. Even if we fail in this Soul Master Competition but it doesn't mean our heaven dou Royal Academy is in decline. When we truly need to show our strength, it will be in six years" he stated confidently.

Upon hearing this, Bai Baoshan's eyes lit up. He looked at the group of high-spirited young people on the opposing Tiandou Royal Academy team. "Yes, a single temporary victory or defeat is nothing. The nine members of our Emperor Team are our true hope."

"Everyone did well today, especially Yu Tianheng and Tian Lin. Your cooperation was remarkable. It's a shame you can't fuse your martial souls otherwise, your strength would be doubled" Qin Ming remarked as he approached, analyzing the potential of a combination of soul skills technique between the demon suppressing Sword and the Blue Electric Tyrant dragon spirit.

Since the demon suppressing Sword could accommodate various attributes and the thunder of the Blue Electric Tyrant dragon was unmatched among all martial spirits, logically speaking, the two should have good compatibility. Yet, despite studying for a long time, Qin Ming had only been able to develop a few combination skills. Martial soul fusion techniques were much more complex.

Tianlin however, knew that fusion wasn't feasible due to the difference in levels between their martial souls. Yu Tianheng's Blue Electric Tyrant dragon was a top-level martial soul, while Tianlin's demon Sword was a hidden god-level one and Without a significant change, fusion would be difficult.

After the day's training ended, everyone began to leave the soul fighting stage and At that moment, Dugu Yan suddenly felt dizzy.

"Strange... Could it be that my martial spirit has been overused?" she wondered aloud.

"Tianheng, don't worry, I'm just a little dizzy" Dugu Yan reassured her lover forcing herself to stand. But as soon as she stepped out of Yu Tianheng's arms, her legs gave out and she collapsed to the ground fainting shortly after.

"Yanzi!" "Yanzi!" cried members of the Emperor team and Qin Ming and all of them anxiously gathering around. Meng Shenji immediately rushed over to investigate.

Dugu Yan wasn't only a member of the Emperor Team she was also the sole control-type soul master in the group and the granddaughter of Poison Douluo. Her condition could not be ignored.

"Old Bai, Qin Ming and I will take Dugu Yan to the infirmary. You should find the best healing soul master in the academy right away," Meng Shenji ordered. Ye Lingling's Nine heart flowering apple, though a powerful healing martial spirit, couldn't be fully utilized at her current level.

"Understood!" Bai Baoshan, despite his size vanished in a flash, heading to find help.

An hour later, in the infirmary, Dugu Yan slowly regained consciousness under the care of a healing soul saint, a powerful healer above level seventy.

"It's just that your spirit has been overused. You've been facing opponents above level 30 you guys are just Spirit grand master so you should be more cautious in the future" the Soul Saint said after retracting her healing power.

"Thankfully, she's okay now" Qin Ming breathed a sigh of relief"Yanzi, you need to be more careful next time."

Everyone let out a collective sigh of relief, but Tianlin remained concerned. He didn't think the cause was merely overuse of her martial soul. After all, neither he nor Yu Tianheng had overextended as much as Dugu Yan had, yet they didn't experience such effects.

Tianlin suspected that the real issue was that the toxins in Dugu Yan's body, after a heavy strain, had backfired due to the loss of soul power. Fortunately, as a poison soul master, Dugu Yan was able to recover relatively quickly. But as her soul power increased, the toxins would grow stronger, eventually surpassing her body's capacity to handle them, leading to fatal repercussions. Detoxifying Dugu Yan had to be prioritized, and the sooner, the better. Only by controlling the toxins could she fully unleash her potential.

Just then, a voice roared from outside the room, "Yan'er!!!"

The door burst open, and in came an old man in green attire. His figure was slender, and both his clothes and hair were green, with a fishy odor emanating from him.

"Grandpa" Dugu Yan called out, and the others quickly realized the identity of the old man.

He was none other than Poison Douluo, Dugu Bo, one of the most feared Title Douluo on the continent. Known as the most poisonous Douluo in the world, his presence commanded immediate respect. People often referred to him simply as Poison Douluo, a man as ruthless as his martial soul, yet here, he appeared deeply concerned.

His arrival was to be expected. When Dugu Yan collapsed, the academy immediately notified him. It was Zhilin who had gone to find him personally.

"Don't worry, Senior, Dugu Yan is fine. She just needs some rest" Qin Ming said, trying to reassure the anxious Dugu Bo.

"Grandpa, you're overreacting. It's just some overuse of my soul power. There's no need for you to rush here" Dugu Yan said, smiling as she threw herself into her grandfather's arms.

Although she tried to downplay it, she couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth knowing how much her grandfather cared.

"Alright, but it scared me to death" Dugu Bo said, gently stroking her hair. The others, particularly the Emperor Team and Qin Ming, were astonished to see the usually fearsome Poison Douluo displaying such tenderness.

Though Dugu Bo appeared calm on the outside, Tianlin could sense the deep worry in his eyes. He understood that Dugu Bo's own son, Dugu Yan's father, had died slowly from poisoning, and that the possibility of a similar fate for his granddaughter weighed heavily on him. But Dugu Bo didn't dare to share his fears with Dugu Yan. After all, she was still young, and knowing the truth would be too cruel.

Despite his reputation as a ruthless figure, Dugu Bo's deep family ties were clear. If he could, he would forgo the power of a Title Douluo and simply wish for his granddaughter's happiness and well-being.

To allow Dugu Yan to rest, everyone left the infirmary, and Dugu Bo turned to address the group. "You're from the Emperor Team, right? Yan'er speaks highly of you every time she comes home. It's clear how important you all are to her."

"Your Majesty, you honor us" they responded humbly, knowing not to be arrogant in front of a Title Douluo.

Dugu Bo's gaze lingered on three people in particular: Tianlin, Ye Lingling, and Yu Tianheng. Tianlin, the youngest yet most powerful, was a once-in-a-generation talent, surpassing even Tang Hao in his prime. Ye Lingling, with her Nine-Heart flowering apple martial soul, was undoubtedly a key figure in healing. As for Yu Tianheng, Dugu Bo's feelings were less warm. He considered him a young man who had taken his precious granddaughter's heart, and he wished he could deal with him more harshly.

But despite his personal feelings, Dugu Bo recognized their importance and knew their roles in Dugu Yan's future.
