Dragon Ball Human

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Transformation

"Ah!"

A terrified scream echoed through the alley.

Tonpo, who had just committed a bad deed and was planning to sneak away, was completely startled when Yamiru suddenly appeared and blocked the alley's exit, standing there in his logistics company uniform. He smiled faintly, but the expression didn't quite match his eyes, which were cold and sharp.

"Yo, why is your face so pale?" Yamiru said, his smile not reaching his eyes.

As for this smile...

Yamiru was quite sure it was the type where the corners of the mouth were slightly raised in what seemed like a smile, but his eyes held no trace of warmth. Instead, they were cold and calculating—a look that could freeze anyone in place.

"I... I... I..." Tonpo stammered, sweat pouring down his forehead as he looked anxiously around the alley.

"Aren't we friends?" Yamiru walked toward him, his neck cracking with a loud pop.

Tonpo silently cursed in his mind, 'Don't start clenching your fists!' The memory of Yamiru beating up the leopard-head and his gang made Tonpo's legs turn to jelly...

Yamiru slowly closed the distance between them, narrowing his eyes. "Why are you shaking?"

Tonpo took slow steps backward, forcing a grin. "I-I'm not shaking..."

"Not shaking?" Yamiru observed as Tonpo backed away, visibly trembling. "Then you didn't have taken any pictures of me to pass them on to anyone else, Right?"

Boom!

Suddenly, Tonpo's body began to emit smoke.

The smoke burst up unexpectedly, dissipating just as quickly. In the midst of the smoke, a medium-sized wolfdog appeared, not looking back, and bolted down the alley toward the other end.

"Eh?!"

Now, Yamiru was genuinely surprised. The scene in front of him was so familiar.

"If you're going to run, I might have let you go... but changing like this... now I have to chase you!" His eyes sparkled with a mixture of surprise and curiosity. He wondered if Tonpo was actually his real name. Could it be a fake name, and his real name was oolng? Was this the same pig from the manga, the one who got tricked by Bulma into eating the diarrhea candy?

Seeing a character that resembled one from the original material appear out of nowhere was an unexpected treat for Yamiru, and he immediately took off after him.

"Run, run, run!" The wolfdog that Tonpo had transformed into sprinted on all fours, darting through streets and alleys. When he finally thought he had managed to escape, he stopped to catch his breath, leaning against a trash can. But when he glanced over his shoulder, he was horrified to see Yamiru was still hot on his heels.

His eyes widened in disbelief as he muttered to himself, How is this guy running faster than a dog?!

If Yamiru had heard his thoughts, he definitely would have kicked him twice: "I can't outrun that old man, but I can't outrun even you, you pig!"

Tonpo didn't dare waste any time. Who knew what kind of beating Yamiru would give him if he caught him? In the next moment, smoke began to billow around the wolfdog form of Tonpo. The smoke quickly dissipated, revealing a pig-nosed bat-like creature, which immediately shot up into the sky.

"Idiot! Didn't expect this, huh?"

Tonpo laughed maniacally as he flapped his wings and soared just above the ground, thinking that Yamiru would surely give up by now. But when he looked down, his heart nearly stopped in fright.

Yamiru, still on the ground, was running slowly, occasionally looking up at the small pig-nosed bat in the air to confirm its position.

'Is this guy an idiot?! I'm flying, and he's still chasing after me!' Tonpo was furious in the air, but he was also terrified.

He was a student at the Magic Elementary class of the Superpower Academy, but his skills were poor. After learning a couple of transformation spells, he spent his time stalking the beauty from the Superpower Schoool, only to be reported for his obsessive behavior and kicked out of Academy. His transformation magic didn't last long, and even worse...

He wasn't like that freaky short guy below. He, Tonpo, got tired!

"According to the usual logic in Dragon Ball regarding transformation magic… no matter what ridiculous form you turn into, the actual 'ki' doesn't change."

"So the strongest in the entire multiverse, Vegito, could still knock around Gohan and Majin Buu while in candy form. Similarly… this pig, even if it turns into a flying creature, won't have much change in stamina... just like in the comics, Oolong, even if he transformed into a massive beast, still couldn't withstand a beating from little Goku…"

Yamiru was casually running on the ground, easily following the small black speck in the sky.

Running marathons against me, someone who runs twice daily in the suburbs? Yamiru wouldn't even bother comparing himself to this pig. It's just too beneath him.

"I can't take it anymore…"

In the sky, the pig-nosed bat was panting, its tongue hanging out, tracing a sine-like curve through the air.

They were nearly out of the city now, and that boy was still following him! What kind of grudge was this?!

Tonpo lamented inwardly. He was already dizzy from exhaustion and, unable to hold on any longer, began to fall toward the ground. Halfway through, his magic automatically wore off, and with a thud, he reverted to his pig-headed form, rolling onto the ground.

Soon, rhythmic footsteps approached rapidly. Tonpo lay there, tongue out, and when he turned his head, he saw Yamiru jogging toward him with ease. Not a drop of sweat on his face.

"Why aren't you running anymore?" Yamiru asked, walking up to him and kicking the pig.

"I… I can't run anymore…" Tonpo lay there like a corpse, "You freak, you must be a dog-headed man in disguise with how fast you run!"

"Still got the energy to complain?" Yamiru asked him. "Tell me, the animal people who were causing trouble earlier, you called them, didn't you?"

"Yeah…" Tonpo widened his eyes in a daze.

"Who are they?"

"People who used to bully me at Academy..."

"Academy?" Yamiru's interest piqued. He leaned forward and asked, "Is it that… what's it called... South Transformations Kindergarten?"

He remembered that in the comics, Oolong and Yamcha's pet, Puar, had attended that Academy.

Tonpo shook his head while lying on the ground. "No, no, it's the superpower Academy in the suburbs. The transformation kindergarten you're talking about is just a preAcademy attached to our Academy..."

"I see!" Yamiru nodded in understanding. "So, you're just a preAcademy-level magician?"

"Magician..." The pig-headed man refrained from commenting on that title, sulking with a miserable and dejected expression. "PreAcademy-level..."

Yamiru was quite interested in that super-powered Academy and had many questions, but since his work wasn't done yet, he took the little pig back to Animal people district.

It wasn't that he was particularly dedicated to this part-time job; it was more because he had hidden the remaining packages in a dead-end alley, and he'd feel guilty if someone stole them.

Tonpo followed Yamiru, delivering the last few large packages. A few times he considered running away, but every time he thought of Yamiru's monstrous stamina, he gave up the idea. Especially when Yamiru casually carried a package taller than Tonpo himself with one hand and still had the leisure to pick him up with the other...

After returning to the company, completing his tasks, and grabbing a work meal to take with him, Yamiru and Tonpo prepared to head home.

"Dozens of kilometers? Don't you have a car?"

When Tonpo heard Yamiru was going to run home, he thought this guy must live somewhere in the South City district. To his surprise, it turned out he lived in the super far suburbs, dozens of kilometers away.

"Who needs a bike!" Yamiru pushed the sluggish pig-headed man. "Just run, that's all. Life is all about exercise."

"Exercise my foot! You're just poor, aren't you?!" Tonpo muttered to himself.

'No wonder this guy, Yamiru, could chase mr like it was a game. Damn, this guy runs a hundred kilometers every day! Even if I turned into a dinosaur, I still couldn't outrun him!'

"You can run, but I can't. I'm already dead tired from being chased by you..."

Tonpo complained, pulling a capsule from his pocket, reluctantly tossing it on the ground. With a puff, smoke dispersed, revealing a double-decker bus.

"Hah, there it is!" Yamiru looked at the bus, unable to stop himself from laughing. "This is just like Oolong's car in the comics, right? Oolong almost successfully ambushed Bulma in that car…"
