Dragon Ball Human

Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Confidence

"Freeza! You've done enough evil... you've angered me!!"

In the sky of Namek, a tall young man floated, his posture proud, his voice booming like thunder, filled with anger. The young man's face was indistinct, with only a pair of golden eyes that seemed timeless. His golden gaze flashed, and from his body, a pinecone-sized 'sword ball' flew out. Under the pressure of invisible and intangible telekinesis, the ball instantly transformed into a sharp long blade, floating before him, its tip pointing toward the person floating in front of him.

Freeza, on the opposite side, had a grim expression, grinding his teeth and shouting something, though the words couldn't be clearly heard.

The young man, using his gaze like a hand, manipulated the flying blade and murmured to himself, "Watch this! Look at my artifact!" Immediately, the floating long sword shot out like a living being, cutting through several meters of space. It transformed into a streak of golden light and pierced Freeza's chest, leaving a small bloodstained hole...

"What am I even imagining?!"

Yamiru, outside Slope City, shuddered in the night, startled by his own thoughts.

The image in his mind of the "artifact" felt too out of place. "Am I really that weird?" he thought, laughing at himself.

However...

Such a sense of dissonance and bizarre humor was something that, in this world, Yamiru probably alone could feel.

Thinking about it, a sense of loneliness crept up.

Yamiru gripped the hilt of the long sword, unsure of what material it was made from, but it felt as if it were perfectly molded to his hand. Even someone like Yamiru, who had never used a sword, felt completely comfortable holding it. If only the blade were a bit shorter, it would be more suited to his ten-year-old frame.

Swish, swish, swish!

Yamiru swung the long blade, which resembled a katana, around in the air. The blade cut through the air with incredible smoothness, and he didn't feel any resistance.

"Good blade, good blade."

Yamiru sheathed the sword and gently caressed the blade. Unlike ordinary iron weapons, the material of this alien-imported sword didn't have the cold feel of metal; instead, it felt more like a mirror. When he slashed it across the ground, it sliced through the surface as easily as cutting tofu, with the front half of the blade silently sinking into the ground.

After playing with it for a while, as the night deepened, Yamiru activated his keen eyes and barely noticed a small button on the hilt.

"Did they not worry about accidental presses when designing this thing?"

Curious, Yamiru pressed it but found that the button was just a pattern and didn't actually press down. Moreover, the long sword didn't change in any way when he pressed it.

"Uh..."

As Yamiru was deep in thought, he suddenly heard someone shouting behind him. He assumed it must be that unlucky Earthling cop, Chapat, waking up. He turned around to confirm, and sure enough, it was him.

But from Chapat's perspective, when he shouted, the person in front of him turned around... Suddenly, in the dim light of the night, a pair of golden eyes lit up, like the glowing eyes of a wolf or a monster, staring fixedly at Chapat, as if two ghostly flames had ignited in the night. Chapat's scalp went numb, and he jumped back, shouting, "Ah!"

He reached for his gun holster, but it was empty. Jiora had left the gun back at the police station when he took leave to visit the West City.

Yamiru rolled his eyes. "Stop screaming! Out here in the wilderness, you could scream your throat raw\..." He raised the long sword, pointing it at Chapat's chest and stomach, then delivered a dramatically cheesy line, "…and still no one would come to save you." After finishing, he nodded with satisfaction, enjoying the moment, before slinging the sword over his shoulder.

Yamiru felt that after Jiora's training, his confidence had skyrocketed. Perhaps, if he met King Chappa again, in perfect physical condition, he might be able to exchange a few more moves. If he tried hard enough and even managed to explode with power at the right moment, it might be a 50/50 chance! Yamiru laughed at the thought. Of course, he didn't seriously think so, but he did appreciate his own optimism, with a bit of humor sprinkled in, and the inside jokes about Dragon Ball that no one in this world would understand.

At that moment, the sword resting on his shoulder tapped rhythmically. Suddenly, he felt warmth on his shoulder, and as the blade shifted, it left a shallow cut on his skin.

"Hiss!" Yamiru silently put the sword down.

The poor little police officer squinted, trying to make sense of the golden-eyed figure in front of him. Yamiru was only about 1.2 meters tall, and in the quiet, desolate wilderness, his dark golden eyes, coupled with the occasional chuckle and sudden gasp of pain, only added to the eerie atmosphere.

Chapat genuinely believed he had encountered some kind of ghost or demon. After all, Earth in Dragon Ball wasn't short on supernatural occurrences. His lips went pale as he asked, "Y-You... Where am I? I remember I was just... somewhere in a park..."

Yamiru held his shoulder. Luckily, he didn't cut off his arm; otherwise, his precious half-senzu bean would have been gone to waste, which would have been a huge loss. Seeing that the officer was genuinely frightened, Yamiru felt a bit helpless.

He decided to approach him.

Chapat stepped back in fright, and Yamiru snapped, "Move again, and I'll chop you!" As he raised the sword, the faint moonlight reflected off the blade, making Chapat even more terrified. The terrifying and eerie atmosphere was beyond anything he had ever seen in a horror film, and he almost fainted from fear.

"Take a good look. I'm just a kid. A big, grown-up cop like you should be afraid of what?" Yamiru walked up and looked up at him.

Chapat stretched his neck and finally recognized the boy in front of him. He was indeed an ordinary eleven- or twelve-year-old boy. But the boy was holding a long sword almost as tall as himself, which felt a bit strange. Chapat felt much relieved and awkwardly laughed, "It's just that your eyes are too scary. Where is this place? How did I end up here?"

"This is the outskirts of Slope City. As for how you ended up here, you're asking me? How would I know?"

Yamiru wasn't about to clean up Jiora's mess. Anyway, Chapat was faking it, and even if he went back and realized that his memories didn't match up with reality, it wasn't something Yamiru had to worry about.

Seeing that the golden-eyed boy wasn't hostile, Chapat grumbled, "Then why did you scare me with that sword?"

"Don't you think your overreaction needed a little scare?" Yamiru asked, smirking.

"I don't think so!" Chapat quickly replied.

Chapat bared his teeth. He looked around and confirmed that the environment did indeed resemble the outskirts of Slope City. Seeing that the golden-eyed boy wasn't paying much attention to him, Chapat lowered his head and looked for the main road. Soon, he recognized that they were on the southern outskirts of Slope City. If he walked north along this road, he would reach the city in just a few kilometers.

Looking north, he could faintly see a line of lights in the distance. It was the city's nightlife starting to come alive.

Now that his mind was at ease, Chapat decided to turn back and find the golden-eyed boy. The starlight and moonlight were faint, and the nearby area was shrouded in dimness, so he thought Yamiru might have already left.

However, when something cylindrical pressed against his stomach, Chapat stopped, looked down, and saw that Yamiru was right in front of him.

"Your eyes...?" he wondered, realizing that Yamiru had deactivated his golden eyes. In the darkness, he hadn't noticed Yamiru's presence earlier.

"Mind your business." Yamiru found explaining his eyes to a stranger troublesome, so he just brushed it off with a short reply. He pinched the tip of his sword, and the blade trembled lightly. Just holding the sword this way, with only his fingers gripping the tip, caused more strain than Yamiru had anticipated. After just ten seconds, the muscles in his body were already tight and sore, and he inwardly cursed, "Damn, this is way more exhausting than I thought... almost ended up looking like a fool trying to act cool."

Quickly releasing the tension in his fingers, the sword's hilt dropped and hung loosely in his hand.

Yamiru lifted the sword tip with a quick motion, gripped the hilt, and, sensing something, tightened his grasp. With a sudden whoosh, the long sword disappeared.

In his palm, there was only a small ball the size of a pine cone.

"Alien technology..." Yamiru mused as he pocketed the sword pellet. "It must be something like a pressure sensor... is it triggered by the grip or a specific gesture? I'll have to figure it out later."

Although Chapat thought the boy's attitude wasn't great, as a police officer, he was still concerned and asked if Yamiru was heading to Slope City. After learning that he was, Chapat suggested they walk together since it wasn't safe for a kid alone in the wilderness at night. Yamiru agreed to walk with him, thinking that it was better to stick together. After all, this officer, that didn't have Jiora's "personal protection" anymore, might easily become a target for wild animals in the area.

The two walked for over an hour through the night. They didn't encounter any wild animals, though.

Chapat, feeling increasingly anxious, finally relaxed when they got closer to the city's lights. He sighed in relief and turned to look, only to find Yamiru already walking away, waving his hand in a gesture of farewell without even looking back. Chapat was left dumbfounded and could only mutter, "What a strange kid!" before heading off to the police station.

Meanwhile, Yamiru walked alone through the night streets of Slope City.

He felt the rolls of bills in his pocket and started thinking about the supplies he needed to gather before leaving: some dry food, a compass, and more maps.
