DXD Issei: The Mind of Games

Chapter 23: Chapter 23

"Again!" Rias tried to control her Power of Destruction into a small little aura around her. An actual physical aura that can be used as a weapon by her. Her brother wanted her to be able to use her power at will without concentrating heavily. This would be the first step, making sure that she could instantly summon a barrier around her body. Relaxing her body, Rias closed her eyes and began to relax her mind. Slowly, she began expanding her aura outwards... "Now... I want you to think about nothing but the magical presence within you. I want you to slowly expel the power into your body, surrounding yourself with it. Let it engulf your very figure." Doing as her brother said... Rias began to slowly visualize herself with a core burning with the Power of Destruction.

'Everything... Is going smoothly.' It had been the second day of her training with her brother, and she already can tell the many things she has done wrong throughout her years of training. A major mistake that she had done with her power was instead of letting it flow within her, she would instead instantly try to concentrate the power into a condensed sphere which... Even with her control of her power, would never work out well.

Sirzechs, upon seeing this, squinted his eyes to see his sister's aura beginning to slowly engulf her body. "I want you to continue this... Stay in this exact mindset and we'll begin training. It's not about the offense someone needs, it's better to have defense. Don't use the power of destruction to attack me, just try to dodge and use it to deflect my attacks."

Nodding, Rias opened her eyes and heard a single word. "DODGE!"

And she was smacked right across the face, sending her flying right into the wall, but she still had her aura around her body. She was going to go through some difficult times...

While Rias was training with her brother, Issei was sitting down in his house staring into the television. He put on the television to it would seem to his parents that he was staring at something rather than nothing because he wasn't watching the show, he was simply in his own thoughts. After reaching level 60, Issei had obtained a specific quest. It was interesting to say the least since it wasn't a regular quest asking him to complete difficult tasks, but rather a race changing quest.

————————————————————

Race Changing Quest: Survive as long as you can in the dungeon

Objective: You will be placed into an infinite world to be fighting against thousands upon thousands of monsters. The longer you can survive, and the more enemies defeated, the better the race you will change into. Upon being defeated, you will be automatically transmitted right back to your original location before entering the dungeon. Leveling up will be available during the dungeon.

Restrictions: You will only have 5 large health points and 5 large mana potions available

————————————————————

He was left with this... defeating as many monster as he needed to defeat and survive as long as he could... he could do that. Deciding to enter the dungeon, he clicked the yes button and was transmitted into the very first area he had ever entered in. The first dungeon he entered... the desert area.

————————————————————

Monsters defeated: 0

Time survived: 1 second

————————————————————

And so, it began...

The very fog that forms whenever he entered the dungeon showed up again... however, the entire desert was quickly infused by the fog. The sand began to change colors until it was, rather than being the yellowish-orange color, was now a grayish-white color. Instead of the fog spawning the enemies, Issei was met with the enemies rupturing the ground with their hands and crawling up. The first zombies that he fought against... they were back.

However, in the distance, Issei noticed a few familiar figures. Standing in front of him, there were the three drakes, the Queen, Elizabeth, and Elisa. "Hello... Human. It's so great that we can fight again."

"Oh... you three. Still can't handle the fact I destroyed you three alone." They sneered at his comment but chuckled afterwards.

"We are not the same as before... we are much stronger."

They looked to be a little stronger. Instead of being their original level, they were 10 level higher. Still, it was nothing compared to Issei. Gripping onto his Great Sword, Issei simply charged a very powerful chaotic wave into his sword and slammed it straight into the ground. Creating a huge explosion that disintegrated everything in the proximity, everything in sight was annihilated.

His strength stat was just on a league of its own.

"Who needs speed when you can hit so hard that your attacks become an area of effect."

Level Up

————————————————————

Before anything could happen, a roar could have been heard from the distance. Turning to see who it was, Issei was met with a hideous sight. A large dragon-like figure was seen storming towards him while its... It was massive in size, but the mouth of the dragon stretched from the head all the way to the back. The many teeth that the dragon had were all asymmetrical. The wings had holes in them while it continued screeching.

--------------------------------------------------

Name: The Gaping Dragon

Title: None

Race: Dragon

Level: 65

HP: 50000/50000

MP: 10000/10000

Str: 100 (+50)

AGL: 75

END: 200

INT: 100

--------------------------------------------------

The sheer stats that the dragon had was easily eclipsing Issei by a land slide. Not only that, but it had one level advantage. The only thing that Issei had over this thing was his raw damage reduction. His Great Sword would be able to deal with the level difference thanks to his pierce stat, but the huge health pool and mana pool was scaring him. Not only that, but this was also the first monster that Issei had ever faced that beat him in strength. He couldn't just tank the attacks and deal a fatal blow because he would be easily knocked straight into the distance the moment by would come into contact with the beast.

Backing away and gaining some distance on the dragon, Issei gripped his Great Sword. He couldn't deal with the monster... unless if he used all his health potions and mana potions. Changing his race is going to be crucial, especially if he wanted to fight against beings like Artemis. He wanted to make sure he would be able to at least deal with her blows...

Wait... what if he could run away from the monster and make others fight it?

He may have been slightly slower, but Issei could remove his sword and shield making his movement barely higher. Placing them back into his inventory, Issei made a mad dash the opposite direction of the gaping dragon. The dragon roared at him before trialing straight behind him.

That was when he noticed a couple of things... Issei noticed that there were smaller critters and then... there was a specific being that was in within the crowd of mobs.

----------------------

Name: Demonic Tank of the Abyss

Race: Abyss

Level: 65

HP: 5000/5000

MP: 1650/1650

STR: 98 (+10)

AGL: 83 (+4)

END: 90 (+10)

INT: 66

Bonus: 70% Damage Reduction

----------------------

A similarly large abyss warrior, similar to the knight he fought with Rias, but a far bulkier with many more plates of armor and a Great Shield at hand, Issei noticed as the tank began running to him. The tank was quick, maybe he could be the perfect opponent for the gaping dragon.

With the tank rushing at him and the gaping dragon trailing him. Issei took the opportunity to slow down and re-equip his sword and shield. Turning towards the gaping dragon, Issei through a small energy wave into the ground. Doing the same in the other direction, Issei took this opportunity to dig straight into the sand with his strength and engulf his body within the ground.

He had only hoped that the tank and the dragon would fight. Once the smoke had cleared, the tank was face to face with the dragon.

There's one rule with these monsters...

They had no allies...

The tank immediately, with its great sword in hand, swung at the gaping dragon and was able to take a small nibble at the health pool. The gaping dragon in response screeched and, using its tail, swung around and slapped the tank away. However, the sheer damage reduction and armor that the tank wore had simply tanked the blow. Using its sword again, it had swung and sliced at the gaping dragons again.

While the two monsters had continued fighting, Issei had dug his way to a reasonable distance and opened a way for him to get out. Seeing the two fight, Issei noticed their health pools.

----------------------

Gaping Dragon: 49800/49800

Tank: 4980/4980

----------------------

Dear god... this was going to be a painfully long fight to wait out. Watching the two, Issei noticed that the knight was just tanking everything while the gaping dragon was using its sheer size and strength to try and damage the thick armor that the tank wore. Deciding to come back later, Issei rushed away to defeat some of the smaller critters.

While Issei was going to be there for a while, Artemis was currently walking towards his house. With Sofia by her side, Artemis wanted to spend time speaking with Issei while Sofia wanted to play with him like he was her older brother... so, she decided to hit two birds with one stone.

'I wonder... what other silly things will that boy do?' She knew where he lived and told Sofia that making the little girl extremely.

"My lady! What do you think Mr. Dummy is going to be doing right now?"

Artemis could only warmly smile at her before ruffling her hair, "I'm guessing that Mr. Dummy is probably studying for an exam or something... I don't know what kids his age do."
