Eclipsed Radiance

Chapter 6: Nobara Kugisaki

My bad.....

------------------------------------------------

The conversation at the breakfast table was lighthearted, with Yuji asking his usual barrage of questions and Megumi and Renji doing their best to answer. Eventually, Yuji turned to the two strongest sorcerers with a thought that had been on his mind.

"So... I've heard a lot about you two. You're apparently at the top of the food chain when it comes to power, but how is that even possible? I mean, you're just a first-year, right?" He glanced over at Renji.

Megumi shrugged. "Renji's been training since he was young. And he's the universe's answer to Gojo."

Renji scowled at the term, fingers tightening around his cup. "Don't call me that," he muttered.

Yuji blinked, trying to make sense of it. "Wait, so he's like Gojo's opposite?"

Gojo, ever the instigator, leaned in with a grin. "Well, I'm just that good, kid. The world couldn't handle just one of me. That's why Renji's around."

Renji's violet eyes locked on Gojo, unamused. "Gojo may have gotten rid of the Inverted Spear of Heaven and the Black Rope, but I can break his infinity with ease."

Gojo's confident grin immediately faltered, and he quickly shut up, his hands lifting in a placating gesture. "Alright, alright. Point taken."

Yuji, caught off guard by the tension in the air, glanced nervously at Megumi for some context.

Megumi just shrugged, casually poking at his food. "Power dynamics get complicated when you're dealing with people like them. It's not about being the strongest—it's about balance."

Gojo suddenly broke the tension, a wide grin on his face. "Enough talk about balance and divinity. After we eat, we're picking up Nobara from the train station. You've got a new team to meet, kid." Gojo said, glancing over at Yuji with his blindfold.

Yuji, eager to move on from the heavy conversation, nodded enthusiastically. "Picking up Nobara, huh? I can't wait to meet her."

Gojo winked. "You'll like her, I'm sure. But she's got a sharp tongue, so don't get too cocky."

----------

The sleek Maybach SUV hummed smoothly down the street as it made its way to the train station. Yuji sat in the back, staring out the window for a moment before his curiosity got the best of him. He glanced over at Gojo, whose blindfold remained firmly in place, a piece of cloth that seemed to cover his eyes entirely.

"Hey, Gojo," Yuji asked, leaning forward slightly, "Why do you wear that blindfold all the time? Can you even see with it on?"

Gojo chuckled, adjusting his position in the front passenger seat. He didn't even need to look back to know that Yuji was curious. "Oh, I can see perfectly fine with it. It's just... well, it's complicated. My eyes aren't like normal people's."

Yuji blinked. "Your eyes aren't normal?"

Gojo grinned, his voice almost teasing. "Nope. I've got the Six Eyes. It's a technique that lets me perceive cursed energy at an extremely high level. It's a bit of a blessing and a curse, really."

Yuji's expression shifted, clearly trying to digest that. "So, you don't need the blindfold to see, but you wear it because of the power in your eyes? That sounds insane."

Gojo smirked. "Something like that. The Six Eyes let me see cursed energy in its purest form, but it's too intense to look at without being restricted. The blindfold helps with that."

Yuji sat back, stunned by the explanation, but another thought crossed his mind. His eyes flicked to Renji, who was sitting quietly across from them, his gaze slightly distant. Renji had his usual calm demeanor, his long hair tied back, but it was his eyes that caught Yuji's attention. Unlike Gojo's, Renji's eyes were a deep, almost glowing violet—striking and intense in their own right.

Yuji blinked a few times, then leaned forward again. "Hey, Renji, your eyes are kinda funny-looking too. They're all... purple and stuff. What's up with that? Are they like...rinnegan?"

Renji's gaze flicked to Yuji briefly before he looked out the window again, not saying anything. Gojo, however, seized the moment to explain.

"Oh, those?" Gojo said, grinning. "Renji's got something called Inverted Six Eyes. It's like the opposite of mine. It's a rare and powerful condition where the user has the same ability to perceive cursed energy, but it works in reverse. It's not as flashy as my Six Eyes, but it's just as deadly in its own right."

Yuji's jaw dropped, trying to process what he'd just heard. "Wait... so you're telling me that both of you guys have these crazy, super-powered eyes?"

Gojo chuckled, enjoying Yuji's reaction. "Yep. Renji's a super special case, though. He was born with a different technique than what his clan specializes in. He's the universe's answer to me, after all. But you're in the car with two of the strongest sorcerers in existence. Not bad for a first day, huh?"

Yuji stared at Renji, then back at Gojo, his mind buzzing. The realization hit him hard: He was sitting between two of the most powerful beings in the jujutsu world, and they were on their way to pick up another potential powerhouse—Nobara.

Yuji nodded, feeling slightly better about his situation—until Renji spoke up, his tone suddenly much more serious.

"Listen carefully, Yuji," Renji said, his voice low and steady. "If Sukuna ever suggests making a binding vow with you, you need to pay very close attention to the terms and conditions. Understand?"

Yuji's eyes widened, clearly intrigued. "A binding vow? What's that?"

Megumi, who had been quiet until now, leaned in to explain. "A binding vow is a special kind of agreement in the jujutsu world. It's a contract that binds a sorcerer or curse to specific conditions. If either side breaks the vow, there's a huge price to pay. But it's not as simple as it sounds. The way the terms are phrased is extremely important. If you're not careful, you could end up trapped by loopholes."

Gojo nodded in agreement, a more serious edge to his usual playful tone. "Exactly. Binding vows can be tricky. They're designed to be powerful tools, but they're also easily manipulated by how you word them. Sukuna could twist words to his advantage, so if he ever proposes one, you need to be extra cautious."

Yuji frowned, feeling the weight of their words. "So, if I agree to something, he could find a way to cheat it?"

Renji's expression darkened, his eyes narrowing slightly. "That's exactly why you have to be careful. He could use your own words against you if you're not clear about the conditions."

Gojo leaned back, his usual grin returning but with a touch of seriousness. "Trust us on this one, Yuji. We'll help guide you through it if it ever comes up. But always, always read the fine print."

Yuji gulped, feeling the magnitude of what he was getting into. "I'll be careful. Thanks, guys."

Renji's voice softened just a little as he glanced at Yuji. "It's not about being careful. It's about being smart. Don't let Sukuna play you."

Gojo threw his arm over the back of the seat, grinning once more. "Alright, that's enough lecture for one ride. We've got a first-year to pick up."

----------

The Maybach rolled to a stop at the train station, the hum of the engine fading as the doors opened. Gojo stepped out first, followed by Renji, Megumi, and Yuji. They walked towards the platform where a young woman was standing, arms crossed, clearly waiting for them.

She was dressed in the typical Jujutsu High uniform, but there was an undeniable confidence in the way she stood. Her gaze shifted as they approached, first landing on Renji. She raised an eyebrow and smirked.

"You're cute," she said, causing Renji to pause for a moment before giving her a small, appreciative smile.

Nobara shifted her attention to Megumi next, her expression taking on a more teasing tone. "And you're moody. Definitely the brooding type."

An idea suddenly popped into her head, and she pointed at Renji. "You look like Itachi from Naruto," she declared, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "And you," she said, pointing at Megumi, "could totally be Sasuke."

Renji blinked in surprise, realizing what she meant. He chuckled softly. "I can see the resemblance," he admitted, looking over at Megumi. "But we're not brothers. Not blood-related, at least."

Megumi's smirk widened, and before Renji could say anything more, the two exchanged a quick, casual handshake—a bro moment, as they'd call it. It was enough to make Nobara raise an eyebrow.

"Nice," she commented, clearly entertained by their dynamic.

Then, her gaze shifted to Yuji, and without missing a beat, she pointed at him. "You're totally Naruto. No question about it," she said with a grin. "You look like an idiot."

Yuji, not used to being roasted quite so easily, blinked at her, his mouth opening in protest. "I—what? Hey!"

Nobara smirked at him, clearly enjoying the interaction, but her attention quickly turned to Gojo, who was standing at the back, watching everything unfold with his usual amused demeanor.

"So, you're Kakashi, huh?" Nobara asked, her eyes scanning Gojo's blindfold. "Are you cosplaying or something?"

Gojo's smile stretched wider, and he shook his head. "Nope, not cosplaying. Actually need to cover my eyes." He gave a mock sigh. "My eyes can be a bit much for people to handle."

Nobara tilted her head, clearly intrigued, but Gojo didn't give her time to ask more. He pointed at her with a playful grin. "You, Nobara," he said, "are Temari. You definitely look like the hot-headed type."

Nobara blinked, her grin growing even wider as she took in the comparison. "Temari, huh? I can work with that," she said, crossing her arms confidently. "At least she's strong."

Gojo chuckled. "Exactly. You all have your roles, I guess."

Renji, still amused by the whole conversation, glanced over at Gojo and raised an eyebrow. "We're all just missing a Naruto, Sasuke, and Kakashi, huh?"

Nobara smirked. "Except we're not in some dumb ninja world, right?"

Renji laughed. "True, but it's still fun to mess around." He then turned to Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara. "Alright, let's head out. First day at Jujutsu High—time to get started."

The group began walking toward the exit, with Yuji still trying to wrap his head around the jokes and the playful banter that had just taken place. But for once, he felt a little more at ease. It seemed that, despite everything, he had found a place where he could fit in—at least for the moment.

As the group made their way towards the exit of the train station, the banter about Naruto and their nicknames continued.

"Alright, alright," Gojo said, wiping his hands together dramatically as if preparing to wrap things up. "Enough with the jokes, let's get going. We're heading to Roppongi."

A collective "Ooh" of excitement went through Yuji, Nobara, and even Megumi. Renji, however, didn't react. He simply nodded, having already figured out Gojo's usual methods. But the others had no clue.

"Roppongi!" Yuji exclaimed. "Is that like a super popular place? Is it like a cool restaurant or a club? Or—"

Gojo grinned wide, clearly enjoying the attention. "Oh, it's very special. Trust me, you'll love it," he said, his voice filled with playful mystery.

Nobara, her excitement piqued, bounced on her heels. "Is there some kind of amazing food there? A secret shop? Maybe an underground fight club?"

Megumi raised an eyebrow, already skeptical. "It's not one of your 'special training' spots, is it?"

Gojo shook his head dramatically. "Oh no, no. Not a training spot this time. This is just... an adventure." He shot a wink in Renji's direction, who only gave him a knowing look in return.

Yuji looked around, his excitement palpable. "Well, whatever it is, I'm in!"

The group piled into the Maybach SUV again, the chatter continuing as they drove through the city. The excitement was high, especially from Yuji, who had no idea what to expect. After a short ride, the car pulled up to a dimly lit, somewhat rundown area in Roppongi.

The excitement on Yuji's face faltered as the car stopped in front of an old, abandoned building. It looked completely out of place for the glamorous Roppongi area they had been imagining. There was no neon lights, no bustling crowds, no flashy restaurants. Just an eerie, dark structure.

"Uh... Gojo-sensei?" Yuji asked, craning his neck to get a better look. "This is... this is Roppongi?"

Renji let out a small laugh, almost as if it was too predictable at this point. Megumi simply shook his head. "We're in the right place. Gojo's just messing with you."

Gojo chuckled at the confusion and got out of the car first. "Welcome to your first test, Yuji, Nobara! We've arrived at the real Roppongi."

Yuji stared at the crumbling building, the excitement from before now replaced with a nervous hesitation. "Wait a second... this doesn't look like the kind of place I'd want to hang out at."

Gojo grinned widely, crossing his arms. "Exactly! This is where we do our real work. You're gonna learn the hard way, kid."

Renji pushed himself out of the car, looking at the building with little more than mild disinterest. "It's not what you think. Trust me, it's a training spot. But not the kind of training you're used to."

Nobara blinked in disbelief, still expecting something more glamorous. "This? This is Roppongi? Are we... are we fighting curses in there?"

Gojo laughed, turning back to the group. "Yup! But let's not spoil the surprise. Just follow my lead!"

Nobara's excitement quickly dimmed. "I thought we were having fun today."

Renji, however, gave her a dry look. "When Gojo says we're 'having fun,' it's usually code for 'prepare for something weird.'"

Yuji, still trying to piece everything together, looked at Renji. "So... we're gonna train in there? With a bunch of curses?"

Gojo's grin never faltered. "Exactly. Let's see if you've got the guts to handle it."

----------

As they entered the building, the group's mood shifted. The ominous feeling that hung in the air was palpable, but it only made sense to Yuji as the door creaked open and the darkness of the abandoned building enveloped them. It wasn't a glamorous night out, and it certainly wasn't what he'd expected from Gojo, but it was all part of the test.

As they entered the abandoned building, the air was thick with tension, and the sense of unease grew. Yuji glanced around nervously, the walls covered in grime and shadows. This definitely wasn't what he had envisioned when they mentioned "Roppongi."

Gojo, sensing the rising tension, flashed his usual grin. "Alright, alright. No need to look so nervous. It's not like we're in a haunted house or anything." His eyes flicked over to Megumi, who was already evaluating the surroundings, and then to Renji, who remained calm and composed as usual.

"I'll be real with you," Gojo continued, breaking the silence. "This isn't just some fun field trip. It's a test for you two," he pointed at Yuji and Nobara, "because you're the new first-years." He smirked, adding, "I'm pretty sure Megumi has seen worse, and Renji, well, let's just say this would be over in about two minutes if he really wanted to. You know, he once warped an abandoned building out of existence because he was too lazy to exorcize the curses inside?"

Renji smirked at Gojo's remark. "He's right. I could wrap this up fast, but it's about testing you two," he said, his voice steady but carrying an edge of experience.

Yuji's heart rate picked up. "Wait, you mean we're dealing with curses in here?"

Gojo chuckled, leaning against a nearby wall, his usual playful demeanor never slipping. "Of course, kid. But don't worry. You're both capable enough. I believe in you, even if you don't realize it yet. This is about learning how to deal with situations like these."

Nobara, still processing the fact that they were walking into a decrepit building for their first real test, crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes. "So you're really just going to sit back and let us do all the work?" she asked, giving Gojo a sideways glance.

"Oh, yeah. I'll let you two take the lead," Gojo said with a wink. "You're capable, right? Show me what you've got. Megumi's got his own thing, and Renji could clear this place out with one wave of his hand. But this test is for you two to handle. Think of it as a warm-up."

Yuji swallowed hard, his anxiety creeping back up, but he nodded in determination. "Okay! Let's do this!"

Megumi gave Yuji an unreadable look before stepping further into the building, his hands casually tucked into his pockets. "You're gonna need more than enthusiasm if you want to survive a fight with curses. Stay sharp."

Renji remained by the entrance, silently observing, but his presence was enough to reassure the group. His abilities might have been overkill for something like this, but the calm assurance he exuded was an unspoken reminder that they had the strength to handle whatever came their way.

Gojo pushed off from the wall, gesturing for the others to move forward. "Alright, kids. Time to show me what you've got. No pressure, just don't mess up too much, yeah?"

As Gojo's teasing words hung in the air, Yuji and Nobara made their way deeper into the building, the weight of the situation starting to sink in. This was their first real test as first-years. And despite all the jokes and the strange surroundings, they knew it was about to get serious.

Inside the abandoned building, the tension was palpable as Yuji and Nobara began their first real test as Jujutsu Sorcerers.

Gojo, Megumi, and Renji stood off to the side, observing their every move. They had seen it all before, but today was about watching the next generation prove themselves. The weight of responsibility was heavy on their shoulders, but it was nothing compared to the forces they'd be facing.

Yuji gripped the cursed tool Gojo had given him—a blunt instrument meant for combat. He had already gotten a few swings in earlier, but now he was fully focused. His muscles were tense, his eyes sharp.

Gojo smirked. "Let's see how this plays out."

The first curse appeared, its grotesque form lumbering out from the shadows. It was massive, its skin sagging and mottled with grotesque boils, but Yuji stood firm, swinging the cursed tool in a wide arc, hitting the creature with a resounding thud.

The curse let out an anguished screech as it staggered back.

"Not bad," Renji murmured, a faint smile playing on his lips as he watched the fight unfold. Yuji was brimming with raw power and potential, a bit reckless, but that could be honed. Gojo had made the right choice bringing him into the fold.

Yuji grinned and charged forward, his movements fluid and quick, surprising for someone so new to this life. As he closed the gap between him and the curse, he swung the tool again with precision—this time, striking it in a critical spot, just below its jaw. The curse flailed and collapsed with a wretched howl.

Nobara, standing beside Yuji, wasted no time either. Her technique was precise and powerful, a stark contrast to Yuji's brute force. She held her hammer and nails with steady hands, thrusting them toward the nearest curse. Her technique—a cursed energy imbued hammer and nails—was devastatingly effective, piercing through the cursed beast's heart with ease.

"That's how it's done," Nobara said, wiping her brow as the curse crumbled into dust. She turned to the others with a smirk. "I told you I had it covered."

From the corner, a frightened little boy watched the battle unfold, his eyes wide with fear. Before the last curse had even been dealt with, Nobara was already rushing toward him, her expression softening.

"Are you alright?" Nobara asked, kneeling in front of the boy.

The child nodded hesitantly, but Nobara offered him a reassuring smile. She stood up and turned back to the team. "He's fine. No harm done."

With the curses exorcised and the boy safe, Gojo nodded approvingly. "Good job, both of you," he said with a grin. "I was right to bring you here. You handled that like pros."

Yuji and Nobara exchanged glances, a little out of breath but clearly proud of their performance.

Gojo's grin widened. "Alright, now that the work's done, how about we treat ourselves?"

With that, the group exited the abandoned building, and Yuji's stomach growled loudly.

"Wait, really?" Yuji asked, clearly surprised. "We're not going back to school? I thought we'd be doing more training!"

Renji, who had been silent for most of the battle, raised an eyebrow. "You thought that was all we were doing today? We're heading to a restaurant in the cityside of Roppongi."

"Wait, what?" Megumi said, his tone flat, but there was a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Are we really going out to eat after that?"

Gojo just laughed and waved them along. "I told you this wasn't just a training exercise. You did good, so now you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor."

The group piled into the sleek Maybach SUV, heading towards the heart of Roppongi. Yuji couldn't stop talking about how unreal everything felt—cursed techniques, fighting curses, and now... a fancy restaurant?

When they arrived, they were led to a private room in the restaurant, the soft clinking of silverware and quiet hum of conversations filling the air. The atmosphere was worlds away from the chaos of the fight.

Yuji sat down eagerly, and Renji, who'd mostly remained stoic, relaxed slightly. The meal was high-end, with a selection of traditional Japanese dishes, delicate and beautifully prepared. Megumi, ever the skeptic, made a small quip about Gojo's over-the-top choices, but he couldn't help but appreciate the experience.

Gojo, his blindfold off as he switched to his tinted glasses, grinned as he dug into his meal. "See, I told you guys. Hard work gets rewarded. Enjoy it."

Nobara, who'd just been talking about her latest shopping trip, now seemed to enjoy the calm more than anything else. She raised her glass and winked at Yuji, Renji, and Megumi. "To new beginnings," she said with a sly smile.

Yuji looked around at the group. "This is... crazy. I never thought I'd end up here, eating with you guys. I mean, just last night, I was trying to stay out of trouble."

Gojo clinked his glass against Nobara's. "Welcome to the world of Jujutsu Sorcery. You'll get used to it. Just keep your wits about you. And remember—don't mess up the binding vow thing!"

Yuji chuckled, though he was still trying to wrap his head around everything.

Renji, for the first time that night, allowed himself a genuine smile. The tension of their work had lifted, and for now, they could just enjoy the moment. As much as he liked to keep his distance, he found comfort in the new team dynamic. He wasn't quite sure how everything would turn out, but he knew one thing: they were all in this together.
