Chapter 23 Sun Moon Mountain Range 7
“So much?” Bailiqing was somewhat surprised, but as he contemplated Ye Mo’s attitude toward Ye Yan, he began to understand.
That individual named Yemo appeared to be quite malevolent.
“Yes,” Ye Yan replied, casting a sorrowful glance at Bailiqing. “I was concerned about her safety in the mountains, so I didn’t even have time to bring any guards. That’s why I brought my brother along, but she’s been nothing but ungrateful.”
Upon meeting Ye Yan on the way to this place, she had indeed mentioned that she was searching for Ye Mo. Given all these factors, Bailiqing couldn’t help but develop a strong dislike for Yemo.
Bailiqing himself was quite powerless, yet he allowed his maid to bully others in this manner.
“Yan’er, don’t be disheartened. If there’s another opportunity to encounter that scoundrel, I’ll make certain to avenge you,” Bailiqing declared resolutely.
“Thank you, Your Highness,” Ye Yan replied with a grateful smile and said no more.
Ye Tian observed his second sister’s behavior from the sidelines, sighing inwardly. However, he didn’t voice his thoughts. Instead, an image of Ye Mo’s face involuntarily appeared in his mind.
Those big, black-and-white eyes, at times displaying a profound coldness and at other times, a childlike innocence.
Detached and unparalleled—these four words described her perfectly.
After leaving the area, Ye Mo, Yilin, and Yiluo found a place to rest. Ye Mo perched on a large tree, leaning against its trunk as she gazed up at the starry night sky.
After contemplating the sky for some time, Ye Mo closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
As dawn broke, Ye Mo jumped down from the tree, with Yilin and Yiluo following suit.
“Let’s go,” Ye Mo declared, taking a step forward.
Their task for the day was to locate fire-type monsters. These creatures were just as volatile as the wind-type monsters, prone to fits of anger, and, being of the attack variety, quite challenging to deal with.
Since they hadn’t ventured far into the mountains since arriving, they remained on the outskirts and hadn’t yet encountered any fire monsters or other beasts. Instead, they came across numerous primitive animals.
After walking for a considerable distance without encountering any fire monsters, they decided to sit down and rest.
Yilin offered, “Miss, would you like me to find some fruit?”
“Stay put,” Ye Mo instructed as she reclined on a rock and opened her eyes. She glanced at Yilin and Yiluo. “Can you sense the heightened tension in the air? There may be a battle nearby. We’ll remain here and not wander around.”
Yilin and Yiluo always trusted Ye Mo’s judgments. They nodded in agreement and settled down.
A quarter of an hour later, a distant roar reached their ears, putting both Yilin and Yiluo on alert.
The lady’s foresight was indeed accurate; there was a battle taking place nearby.
Thankfully, they had heeded her advice and refrained from wandering.
The battle raged on for some time before subsiding, the roars ceased, and the ground no longer trembled.
“Miss, should we investigate?” Yilin inquired of Yiluo, concerned.
“Let’s go,” Ye Mo replied as she sat up and descended from the rock. “It might be a fire monster; we could possibly collect a beast core.”
Yilin and Yiluo exchanged glances, then chuckled in acknowledgment before following Ye Mo.
The battle site was a distance away from their resting spot. After some walking, they arrived at the scene of the confrontation.
Lying on the ground were numerous corpses. On the opposite side was the lifeless body of a third-level Flame Lion.
