**Chapter 10: Dungeon: Ancient Cultivator's Tomb (7)**

The Foundation Establishment Stage magic corpse was the strongest enemy Su Chen had faced since entering the Ancient Cultivator's Tomb.

Unlike the rigid Qingxuan puppets or the ordinary magic corpses that were easily suppressed by his Purple Cloud Divine Light, Ye Chenglin posed a completely different challenge. Not only was he a master of combat with years of experience, but the Purple Cloud Divine Light had no significant suppressive effect on him.

This could be attributed to Su Chen's low cultivation level, which limited the strength of his techniques, or it could mean that Ye Chenglin had reached a state where sunlight no longer affected him. Either way, Su Chen could not rely on his usual strategy of suppressing the enemy and delivering a decisive blow.

This time, Su Chen would need to face Ye Chenglin head-on, abandoning any shortcuts or tricks.

Taking on a Foundation Establishment Stage magic corpse while only at the second level of the Qi Gathering Stage was akin to smashing an egg against a rock. Yet, Su Chen wasn't without hope.

Ye Chenglin was severely injured. With only one arm remaining and no pre-prepared talismans, his strength had significantly diminished. In his prime, Su Chen would not have stood a chance. But now, through careful analysis and repeated attempts, he believed he could identify Ye Chenglin's weaknesses and exploit them.

"A magic corpse in the Foundation Establishment Stage… I wonder how much of his original power he has left."

With that thought, Su Chen pushed open the heavy bronze door and once again faced the looming figure of Ye Chenglin.

"Who are you?" Ye Chenglin asked as Su Chen drew his magic sword.

"Qingyun Sect's servant disciple, Su Chen," he replied, just as he had the first time.

Without waiting, Su Chen launched himself toward Ye Chenglin. Knowing his opponent's mastery of thunder-based talismans, Su Chen aimed to close the gap as quickly as possible. Long-range combat was out of the question—his Qi Sword was no match for Ye Chenglin's lethal Thunder Talismans.

But Ye Chenglin wasn't caught off guard.

Su Chen had barely crossed ten meters before a flurry of black lightning surged toward him. Dodging with Floating Cloud Steps, Su Chen left afterimages in his wake, creating an illusion to confuse his opponent.

---

[Floating Cloud Steps: Perfection Level (15/4000)]

[Effect]: When used, you can instantly increase your speed and leave an afterimage.

---

Thanks to his speed and preparation, Su Chen managed to advance twenty meters—ten meters farther than before. However, the remaining eighty meters might as well have been an unbridgeable chasm.

No matter how fast Su Chen moved, he couldn't outrun lightning.

Crackling thunder filled the air as Ye Chenglin's talismans unleashed a relentless barrage of black lightning. The bolts struck every conceivable escape route, leaving Su Chen with no choice but to activate Purple Cloud Divine Light for protection.

Boom!

The thunder crashed into Su Chen, creating a massive explosion. When the dust settled, Su Chen lay battered and broken in the crater left by the talismans.

Ye Chenglin, still calm and unshaken, casually threw out another talisman to finish the job.

The Second Challenge Failed!

[Floating Cloud Steps: Perfection Level (20/4000)]

---

After resurrecting, Su Chen didn't let failure discourage him. Instead, he analyzed his mistakes.

Through hundreds of resurrections, Su Chen had developed an instinct for reflection. Each failure was an opportunity to identify errors, refine techniques, and plan improvements. Though the dungeon was technically a game, the immersive mode made every battle feel real—down to the pain of death.

This realism pushed Su Chen to treat every challenge with the seriousness of a life-and-death struggle. It was also why he continued to grow stronger after every failure.

With his next plan in mind, Su Chen attempted the third challenge.

Three minutes later, he failed again.

Undeterred, he spent another five minutes reflecting on what went wrong. With each repetition, his mastery of Floating Cloud Steps improved.

After 130 failed challenges, Su Chen finally reached a breakthrough:

---

[Floating Cloud Steps: Extreme State]

[Effect]: The body becomes as light as a floating cloud, enabling the user to walk in the air.

---

Su Chen smiled as he prepared for his next attempt.

"Now that Floating Cloud Steps has reached the extreme state, I should finally be able to close the distance."

With the familiarity of someone who had opened this door hundreds of times, Su Chen stepped back into the bronze chamber. There was no need for pleasantries or hesitation this time. The moment the door swung open, he launched himself toward Ye Chenglin with all his strength.

Ye Chenglin, as always, responded by drawing talismans in the air.

"Left..." Su Chen whispered, predicting the first attack.

As a thunder talisman materialized to his left, Su Chen dodged effortlessly, leaving an afterimage behind.

"Above..." He bent low, avoiding another bolt of lightning that streaked past him.

Then, with perfect timing, he leaped into the air.

"Below..." he muttered as the ground beneath him softened into a muddy swamp. If not for his quick reaction, he would have been trapped and vulnerable.

For the first time, Ye Chenglin's expression betrayed surprise.

How could a Qi Gathering Stage cultivator evade his attacks with such precision? It was as if Su Chen could see the future.

Though startled, Ye Chenglin didn't hesitate. His right arm blurred as he drew dozens of talismans in rapid succession, each one transforming into black lightning that surged toward Su Chen.

But this time, Su Chen had an answer.

"Floating Cloud Steps!"

Su Chen stepped onto the air itself, ripples forming beneath his feet like waves on water. Using the reaction force, he maneuvered deftly through the storm of lightning, steadily closing the gap between himself and Ye Chenglin.

Finally, Su Chen stood above Ye Chenglin, his magic sword glowing with energy.

"This time, it's my turn."

"Sword Technique: Water Dragon Roar!"

The vibrating blade struck with the force of a dragon's roar, the air reverberating with its power.
