Chapter 166: Chapter 166: Not Today
"Stop, Atalanta, now is not the time," Kotomine Shirou's voice echoed through Atalanta's mind, just as she was about to let her arrows fly again.
"But…" Atalanta hesitated, glaring at the battlefield below.
"Be patient. Your opportunity will come later," Shirou assured her calmly.
Atalanta clenched her teeth, but she ultimately lowered her bow, withdrawing from her attack with visible frustration.
---
Back on the battlefield, the chaotic skirmishes continued.
Chihiro and Siegfried were locked in a relentless duel. Frankenstein, still restrained by Chihiro's, struggled fruitlessly against her bindings. Diarmuid was caught in a desperate struggle against the increasingly monstrous Spartacus, who seemed to grow stronger with every passing moment.
Achilles and Karna remained engaged in their respective battles with Iskandar and the First Emperor, though it was clear the latter two were beginning to falter. Both Emperors bore visible injuries, their breathing ragged as they struggled to maintain their footing.
Elsewhere, Artoria was still dueling Mordred, the two clashing with equal ferocity.
Hassan of the Hundred Faces, tasked with keeping Chiron occupied, was faring poorly. Despite deploying numerous clones, she couldn't keep up with the centaur's sheer skill and precision. Chiron's arrows rained down mercilessly, cutting through the clones with ease.
The battlefield was at a stalemate, but the tide was beginning to turn against Chihiro's team.
---
Chihiro's gaze shifted to Gilgamesh, who remained seated off to the side, watching the battle unfold with a smug grin.
"You've got to be kidding me," Chihiro muttered, gritting his teeth in frustration. "If this guy wasn't slacking off, we wouldn't be in this mess."
Suddenly, a familiar whistle cut through the air. Atalanta had returned to the fight, her arrows flying toward Chihiro.
Though the Qillin Armor easily withstood the attacks, the impact caused slight disruptions in his movements, giving Siegfried an opening to press his advantage.
---
"Hahahahaha! Witness the glory of rebellion!" Spartacus bellowed, his voice shaking the ground.
Diarmuid, who had been valiantly holding his ground, grimaced as Spartacus's Noble Phantasm activated. Wounds appeared all over the Berserker's body, blood pouring freely, but instead of weakening him, it only seemed to make him stronger. His body began to grow, his muscles swelling until he resembled a towering giant.
"Damn it," Diarmuid muttered under his breath, gripping his twin spears tightly. "This guy is becoming more dangerous by the second."
---
At that moment, the First Emperor and Iskandar reappeared on the battlefield.
However, both were in terrible condition. Their armor was battered, their faces pale from blood loss.
By contrast, their opponents, Achilles and Karna, seemed virtually unscathed.
"Gilgamesh! How long are you going to just sit there?!" Chihiro shouted angrily.
The King of Heroes crossed his legs, his expression unbothered. "Is that all? How boring."
"If you want my assistance, beg for it. Perhaps, if I'm in the mood, I'll humor you," Gilgamesh said with a condescending smirk.
Chihiro's face darkened. "Have you forgotten that I'm still your Master?"
"Do you intend to use force to command me?" Gilgamesh challenged, his crimson eyes narrowing.
"Hmph," Chihiro sneered, raising his hand. "Command Spell: Gilgamesh, go deal with Achilles and Karna for me."
The Command Spell glowed brightly on Chihiro's hand before disappearing, and Gilgamesh's body moved involuntarily.
"You dare!" Gilgamesh roared, his voice filled with fury. "You'll regret this, mongrel!"
Despite his anger, the King of Heroes activated Gate of Babylon. A torrent of treasures erupted from the golden portals, forcing Achilles and Karna to retreat.
Dense celestial chains burst forth, seeking to entangle the two Servants. Though Achilles and Karna managed to evade the initial assault, they were forced to switch to hit-and-run tactics, engaging in a game of guerrilla warfare with Gilgamesh.
---
Chihiro glanced around the battlefield, assessing the situation.
"This isn't working," he muttered to himself. "If this drags on any longer, we'll lose."
His gaze fell on Spartacus, who was still rampaging against Diarmuid.
"If we want to turn this around… I'll have to rely on him," Chihiro decided.
Just as he prepared to approach Spartacus, Achilles came charging toward him on his chariot.
"Hahaha! Kid, yesterday's fight wasn't enough! Let's finish it today!" Achilles shouted, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
Chihiro sighed. "Sorry, but I don't have time for you right now."
He reached into his storage and pulled out a card, throwing it into the air.
"Iron Fan!"
A flash of white light erupted from the card, and a beautiful woman in red robes appeared, holding a palm-leaf fan.
It was Princess Iron Fan.
Achilles blinked in confusion. "What… is that a Servant?"
Princess Iron Fan didn't respond. With a soft snort, she waved her fan.
A powerful divine wind erupted, slamming into Achilles and sending him hurtling through the sky.
"Gah—!" Achilles's voice faded into the distance as he disappeared from view.
Princess Iron Fan gracefully turned back into a card, vanishing just as suddenly as she had appeared.
The battlefield grew silent for a moment as everyone, including Siegfried and Atalanta, stared at Chihiro in bewilderment.
"What… just happened?" Siegfried muttered.
Chihiro didn't waste the opportunity. He dashed toward Diarmuid, who was still engaged with Spartacus.
"Diarmuid, immobilize him!" Chihiro ordered.
"Understood, my lord," Diarmuid replied.
Sliding forward, Diarmuid drove Yellow Rose of Mortality into Spartacus's ankle, causing the Berserker to stumble and collapse to the ground.
"Immobilization Technique!"
Chihiro quickly drew a talisman from his Tongtian Lu and slapped it onto Spartacus, binding him with golden energy.
"Carry him!" Chihiro shouted, summoning a massive bow.
Though confused, Diarmuid complied, lifting Spartacus and placing him onto the bowstring like an oversized arrow.
"Art is an explosion," Chihiro muttered with a grin.
Taking aim, Chihiro's target was clear: Chiron.
As Spartacus hurtled through the air, his body began to glow ominously. The overflowing magical energy within him caused his body to swell, expanding rapidly like an overinflated balloon.
"Ahhh, this feels incredible!" Spartacus roared, his voice filled with manic glee.
Chiron was utterly stunned by the scene unfolding before him.
Using a Servant as an arrow? What kind of absurd tactic was this?
But no matter how shocking or bizarre it was, Chiron knew one thing for certain: he had to run.
He turned and sprinted as fast as his legs could carry him, weaving through the battlefield. But no matter how far or fast he moved, Spartacus continued to close the gap, barreling toward him like an unstoppable missile.
It didn't take long for Chiron to realize the truth.
"This thing is… tracking me?" Chiron muttered in disbelief.
Indeed, thanks to Chihiro's pre-launch buff, Spartacus had essentially become a homing missile, locked onto Chiron's presence with unwavering precision.
"Damn it… If that's how it's going to be!"
Chiron skidded to a halt, planting his feet firmly on the ground. If running wasn't an option, then he would have to destroy the projectile before it could reach him.
---
"This shot shall pierce the scorpion of the heavens."
"My arrow has already been unleashed!"
"Antares Snipe!"
Chiron raised his hand to the sky and shouted. He didn't need a bow or an arrow in his hand—just his intent was enough.
The constellation Sagittarius twinkled brilliantly in the night sky, and from it, a blazing meteor arrow descended.
This was Chiron's ultimate Noble Phantasm, Antares Snipe. A conceptual embodiment of the Sagittarius constellation itself, the arrow required no preparation, no physical bowstring to draw. The target only needed to be marked, and the arrow would find its way.
Once released, the meteor arrow could not miss its target, for it was imbued with the tracking function of its celestial origins.
However, it came with a critical limitation: it could only be used once per night. As such, it was Chiron's trump card, reserved for the most decisive moments.
---
The glowing meteor streaked through the night sky, colliding directly with Spartacus.
"Bang!!!"
The instant the arrow hit, Spartacus's body, which had already swelled with uncontrollable magical energy, erupted into a brilliant explosion.
"Hahaha… Perfect… Too perfect!" Spartacus's voice echoed, filled with a twisted sense of satisfaction, as his body detonated in a blaze of fire and light.
The resulting explosion illuminated the battlefield, consuming everything within its radius. The shockwave flattened the surrounding forest, leaving nothing but scorched earth and scattered rubble in its wake.
Spartacus had officially exited the stage.
Chiron groaned as he crawled out from beneath the rubble, his once-pristine armor now scratched and dented. He surveyed the aftermath of the explosion, his gaze lingering on the smoldering ruins around him.
"Phew… That was close…" he muttered, wiping sweat from his brow.
Though the impact had left him battered and bruised, he had narrowly avoided the worst of it. The Antares Snipe had done its job, neutralizing Spartacus before he could reach Chiron.
Still, Chiron couldn't help but marvel at the sheer power of the blast.
"That bow the boy summoned… What kind of monstrosity is it?" Chiron muttered, shaking his head. "Using a Servant as ammunition… What an absurd and despicable method."
He couldn't help but wonder who could have possibly invented such a thing.
Of course, Chiron was unaware that the overwhelming power of the explosion was thanks entirely to Spartacus himself. Had it been any other Servant, the results would have been far less catastrophic.
