Chapter 7: Chapter 5: A Flicker of Shadow
As the group finished their rest, Cu leaned forward, his expression serious. He tapped his staff lightly on the ground to draw everyone's attention. "Alright, we've rested long enough. Now, if you're here to stop whatever's messing with this timeline, there's something you need to know."
Olga raised an eyebrow, brushing dust from her coat. "And what would that be, exactly?"
Cu pointed in the general direction of the mountains. "The Greater Grail. It's the heart of the Holy Grail and probably what's keeping Saber and the others corrupted. If anyone's controlling them, they're using the Grail's energy as a source. Saber's guarding it in Ryuudou Temple. If we want to end this, we'll need to head there."
Ritsuka looked at Mash with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. "The Greater Grail? Is it really that powerful?"
Romani's hologram flickered to life, nodding earnestly. "It's not just powerful—it's a nexus of magical energy. If it's corrupted, this entire timeline could collapse into chaos. Cu's right. Stopping Saber and securing the Grail is our best bet."
Angela, standing off to the side with her book tucked under her arm, tilted her head slightly. "An artifact with such weight in history. It seems we'll have no choice but to confront Saber directly."
Mash shifted uneasily, gripping her shield. "If that's what we have to do to protect this world, then I'll fight."
Cu grinned. "That's the spirit, kid. But don't get cocky. Saber's not the only one we'll have to deal with. The others are still out there, and they're not gonna let us waltz in unopposed."
Before anyone could respond, the sound of a distant explosion tore through the air. The ground shook slightly beneath them, and a plume of dark smoke rose from the direction of the city.
"What now?!" Olga shouted, her voice tinged with frustration.
Cu's grin vanished, replaced with a grim expression. "That's coming from the school. That's gotta be Archer."
Ritsuka looked at the smoke nervously. "Archer? What's he doing there?"
"Causing trouble, no doubt," Cu said, already starting to move in the direction of the explosion. "If he's involved, we can't ignore it. Let's move!"
The group sprinted through the ruined streets, the smoke growing thicker as they approached. The air was heavy with the acrid smell of burning debris, and the faint sound of crackling fire echoed in the distance.
When they reached the school grounds, the sight that greeted them was grim. The building was in ruins, parts of it engulfed in flames. Standing amidst the wreckage was Archer. His once-noble presence was now twisted, his face marred with dark, jagged lines that seemed to pulse with corrupted energy. In his hands was a massive black bow, its surface cracked and glowing faintly with malevolent light.
Angela narrowed her eyes. "Corruption has taken hold of him entirely. He's beyond reason."
Ritsuka took a step back, his hand trembling. "Is there any way to save him?"
Mash raised her shield, her voice steady despite the tension. "If there's even a chance, we have to try."
Cu stepped forward, spinning his staff in preparation. "Don't be naive, kid. That corruption's dug in deep. The only way we're saving him is by putting him out of his misery."
Archer's corrupted eyes locked onto the group. Without a word, he raised his bow, a crackling arrow of black energy forming in an instant. He loosed the arrow, and it streaked toward them with terrifying speed.
"Scatter!" Cu shouted, pushing Ritsuka and Olga out of the way. Mash raised her shield just in time to block the arrow, though the impact sent her stumbling back.
Angela flicked open her book, and her weapon materialized once more. "No time for hesitation. Prepare yourselves."
Romani's voice crackled through the communication line. "Be careful! That corruption is amplifying Archer's power. He's stronger than usual!"
The tension hung thick in the air as the corrupted Archer stared them down, his bow crackling with ominous energy. Cu let out a low chuckle, stepping forward and spinning his staff lazily.
"Oi, Archer," Cu taunted, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Done bowing down to Saber yet? Or are you still licking her boots like a good little lapdog?"
Archer's face twisted in anger, his grip tightening on his massive black bow. "I don't worship anyone," he spat, his voice venomous. "I'm not a lapdog or a worshipper—I'm a guardian. And right now, you lot are intruding on her territory."
Cu smirked. "Guardian, huh? Sure looks like you've got her leash wrapped around your neck to me."
Ignoring the insult, Archer raised his corrupted bow, dark veins pulsating across his arms. His eyes glowed faintly as he surveyed the group. "None of you belong here," he said coldly. "So let's end this."
Angela materialized her weapon from her book "Fairy Festival" and manifest it's E.G.O Wingbeat, the shimmering fairy-like appearance of the dual serrated blades accompanied by a faint hum of little green glowing light. "Archer has clearly lost his grip on reason. Don't hesitate," she said sharply, her calm demeanor unnervingly steady.
Archer's gaze swept across the group, his dark eyes narrowing as they landed ono Olga, who stood slightly behind the others. A cruel smirk spread across his face.
"Let's start with the weakest link," he sneered. With a single fluid motion, he raised his bow, projecting a glowing blade-like arrow. The energy shifted as the arrow solidified into a sword, then fired straight at Olga with lethal intent.
"Watch out!" Cu shouted.
Mash immediately leapt in front of Olga, raising her shield to intercept the attack. The arrow-sword struck with a thunderous force, shattering the air around them. The impact sent Mash and Olga flying back several feet, tumbling to the ground.
"Mash! Olga!" Ritsuka called out in alarm.
Olga coughed, pushing herself up shakily. Her eyes blazed with frustration as she raised her hand and channeled her magecraft. A star-like projectile materialized in front of her before shooting toward Archer with blinding speed.
But Archer barely flinched. With a casual flick of his corrupted bow, he deflected the projectile with ease, the attack dissolving into harmless sparks.
"Pathetic," Archer sneered, his voice laced with mockery. "Magecraft like that is useless. It's nothing but a dying light meant for stargazing, not battle." He turned his cold, judging gaze to Olga, his words cutting like a blade. "Your kind disgusts me. All of humanity does—clinging to their pathetic scraps of knowledge and calling it progress."
Archer stepped forward, his corrupted aura intensifying as he continued his monologue. "You're all pests, crawling around on the corpse of this world. Too blind to see the filth you've created. Humanity is a blight, and the only cure is wiping it out."
"Archer, that's enough!" Mash shouted, her voice filled with defiance. She planted her shield firmly into the ground, standing protectively in front of Ritsuka, Angela and Olga despite her injuries.
Cu snarled, raising his staff. "Blight, huh? Then I guess you're the exterminator? You're spouting a lot of self-righteous garbage for someone so willing to become a tool of corruption."
"Call it whatever you want," Archer said coolly. "I'm simply fulfilling my duty."
"Then fulfill this!" Cu lunged forward, his staff glowing as he clashed head-on with Archer. The impact of their weapons sent shockwaves through the air, forcing the others to shield their faces from the force.
The two exchanged rapid blows, Cu's movements agile and deploying runes despite his unorthodox weapon. Archer retaliated with calculated shots, his corrupted arrows exploding with dark energy on impact.
As they fought, Cu shouted back to the group. "Listen up! You've got no business sticking around here! Head to Ryuudou Temple—Saber's waiting for you there!"
"But what about you?!" Mash protested, readying her shield as another of Archer's arrows whizzed past her.
"I'll be fine!" Cu barked, deflecting another of Archer's attacks with his staff. "I'll keep him busy. Your job's to stop Saber and secure the Grail. Now get moving!"
Ritsuka hesitated, torn between staying to help and following Cu's orders. Mash stepped forward, her voice calm but firm. "He's right senpai. Staying here only puts us at risk. We need to trust Cu and focus on the mission."
Olga scowled but nodded reluctantly. "Fine. But if you get yourself killed, Lancer—sorry, Caster—I'm not wasting time mourning you!"
Cu smirked even as he parried another of Archer's arrows. "Wouldn't dream of it, princess."
Reluctantly, the group began to retreat, leaving Cu and Archer locked in a fierce battle as the sounds of clashing weapons echoed behind them.
---
When they arrive the air surrounding the Ryuudou Temple was thick with tension, a foreboding aura emanating from the cavern that stretched out before them. Each step closer seemed to magnify the ominous energy in the air, a sensation so heavy it felt like it was pressing down on their very souls.
Ritsuka swallowed hard, gripping the sides of his coat. "This is it, isn't it? The Grail is here."
Romani's hologram flickered to life above Ritsuka's shoulder. His usually calm expression was strained, his brows furrowed as he scanned the readings. "I'm picking up enormous magical energy signatures up ahead… If I had to guess, this is the heart of the anomaly."
Angela, her weapon dematerialized back into her book, walked beside them, unshaken. Her gaze was sharp as her boots echoed softly against the ground. "Do not falter now. Must you be scared by this?."
"Yeah," Olga muttered, though her voice wavered slightly. "I'm not about to let some corrupted servant or overblown wish-granting artifact get the better of me. We're putting an end to this."
The group entered the cave cautiously, their footsteps echoing against the stone walls. The cavern pulsed with an oppressive energy, each step deeper into the heart of Ryuudou Temple feeling like a march into the abyss. The red glow emanating from the chamber ahead painted the rocky walls in flickering shadows, and the air grew heavier, tinged with the metallic taste of malice. No one spoke; they could feel the weight of what awaited them.
And then they saw it.
The cave opened into a massive chamber, its center dominated by a mountain-like structure. Streams of red and black energy flowed upward from the peak, spiraling into a vortex that pulsed with a malevolent light. Atop the structure, standing like a sentinel, was Saber.
Her appearance was haunting. She was clad in pitch-black armor, the edges glowing faintly with crimson lines that pulsed in rhythm with the swirling energy around her. Her face was partially obscured by a corrupted helmet, though her piercing golden eyes burned brightly through the gaps.
But it was her sword that truly drew their attention. Embedded into the ground before her, the weapon radiated an overwhelming aura of corruption. The blade, once resplendent, now bore jagged crimson lines, pulsating as though alive. The weapon seemed to drink in the energy of the chamber, its presence suffocating.
Mash gasped, her voice trembling as she stared at the blade. "That sword… The second king-making sword from the stone… Excalibur. The Sword of Promised Victory."
Her words sent shockwaves through the group.
Ritsuka blinked in disbelief. "Wait… Excalibur? As in King Arthur's sword? The King Arthur?!"
"But that's impossible," Olga said, her voice sharp with confusion. "King Arthur is supposed to be a man! Yet here she is—"
Angela stepped forward, her gaze unwavering as she observed Saber. She didn't seem surprised, though her expression remained unreadable. "Perhaps this timeline has its own interpretation. It wouldn't be the first time history obscured the truth."
Mash, still staring at the corrupted Saber, clenched her fists around her shield. "No… This is the real King Arthur. I can feel it."
Saber's gaze turned to them, her eyes glowing gold behind the dark shadow of her helm. When her gaze settled on Mash, her lips curled into a cold, disdainful smile.
"That shield…" Saber's voice was as sharp and cold as the blade she wielded. "So it has been passed down. Ready yourself, young squire. Raise your shield, for this sword will test whether it can truly protect you."
"Squire?" Olga muttered, her tone incredulous. "Does she mean Mash?"
Saber stepped forward, dragging her cursed Excalibur across the ground with a sound like nails against stone. The very air seemed to waver, as though reality itself recoiled from her power.
Angela materialized her weapon Wingbeat, its shimmering, otherworldly serrated blades glowing faintly in the crimson light. She stepped ahead of the group, her movements deliberate and measured. "Stay out of my way," she said without looking back.
Olga frowned but said nothing, focusing her energy as her hand began to glow with magecraft.
Saber's voice echoed through the cavern, regal and unyielding. "Come then. Face me. Show me if you are worthy to stand before this blade."
The battle began. Saber moved first, a blur of dark energy as she lunged toward Mash. Her corrupted Excalibur struck with unrelenting force, smashing into Mash's shield. The impact sent a deafening shockwave through the cavern, forcing Mash to stagger backward.
"She's too strong!" Mash gritted her teeth, struggling to hold her ground.
Angela moved with precision, striking from Saber's flank with Wingbeat. The twin blades sliced through the air, their energy crackling as they aimed for Saber's exposed sides. Saber turned with inhuman speed, deflecting Angela's attacks with her sword. The clash of steel against ethereal energy sent sparks flying.
"Pathetic," Saber said coldly. "You wield your weapon well, but you lack conviction."
Angela's expression didn't change, her icy demeanor unshaken. "Conviction is irrelevant. Only results matter."
Meanwhile, Olga's hands glowed brighter as she unleashed a volley of star-like projectiles toward Saber. The glowing orbs streaked through the air, aiming for Saber's blind spots. Saber glanced upward, raising her corrupted sword with a sneer. With one sweeping motion, she deflected the projectiles, sending them scattering like shattered glass.
"Is this all your magecraft amounts to?" Saber's voice was laced with disdain. "A child's fireworks?"
Olga gritted her teeth, her frustration evident. "I'm not done yet," she muttered, her hands trembling as she prepared another spell.
The battle raged on, with Mash trying to hold Saber at bay while Angela and Olga launched coordinated attacks. But Saber was relentless, her movements precise and brutal. With each swing of her corrupted Excalibur, she seemed to grow stronger, feeding off the energy of the Grail.
Then, Saber suddenly leapt back, landing on a higher ledge of the jagged structure. She raised her corrupted sword high, its crimson glow intensifying until it filled the entire cavern with blinding light. The air around her seemed to darken as though the very concept of light was being consumed.
"This is the end," Saber declared, her voice echoing with authority. "Vortigern, Hammer of the Vile King. Reverse the rising sun. Swallow the light—Excalibur Morgan!"
A wave of black energy surged forth, a devastating torrent of destruction that consumed everything in its path.
Mash froze, her legs refusing to move as she stared at the incoming attack. The sheer force of it overwhelmed her senses.
"No… I can't…" Mash's voice wavered, her hands trembling on her shield.
"Mash!" Ritsuka shouted, grabbing her arm. "You can do this! You're not alone. We're here with you!"
Mash turned to him, her eyes wide with fear and doubt.
"Trust in yourself," Ritsuka continued, his voice steady despite the chaos around them. "That shield isn't just a weapon—it's proof of your will to protect everyone. You've done it before. You can do it again!"
Mash's breathing steadied as Ritsuka's words sank in. Her mind raced, a flurry of emotions and thoughts crashing together.
"I can't let them down," she thought to herself. "Not now. I have to protect them. I have to protect him."
Her grip on the shield tightened, her resolve solidifying.
"Pseudo Noble Phantasm deployed," she whispered to herself, her voice filled with quiet determination. "Lord Chaldeas."
The shield began to glow, its energy surging outward to form a massive, radiant barrier. The corrupted wave of Excalibur Morgan struck the barrier with unimaginable force, the impact shaking the cavern to its core. But the barrier held.
Saber's attack dissipated, the remnants of its dark energy scattering like ash in the wind. For the first time, Saber hesitated, her gaze narrowing as she regarded Mash.
Angela seized the moment, her blades flashing as she launched a relentless assault on Saber's exposed sides. Olga joined in, casting another volley of projectiles that exploded around Saber, forcing her to retreat.
Mash lowered her shield, breathing heavily but standing tall. "I won't let you harm them," she said, her voice steady.
Ritsuka stepped forward, his expression filled with determination. "We're not done yet. Everyone, together!"
Saber still stood atop the jagged structure, her corrupted sword planted into the ground as she recovered from the overwhelming force of Mash's pseudo-Noble Phantasm.
Her blackened armor bore cracks from the battle, and her golden eyes burned with unyielding hatred as she gripped her cursed weapon tightly. Even weakened, Saber was a terrifying force, her presence suffocating the cavern in her corrupted majesty.
Angela, cold and calculating as ever, stepped forward. Her expression betrayed no emotion, only a cold focus as she prepared to finish the fight. But before she could act, the cavern echoed with the sound of heavy footfalls.
From the shadows at the edge of the battlefield, Cú Chulainn emerged, his presence heralded by the low hum of magical energy emanating from his staff. His blue cloak swayed with each step as he calmly entered the fray, his red eyes sharp and full of resolve.
"Well, isn't this a heartwarming little scene?" Cú said, a sharp grin tugging at his lips. "Good job holding her off, kids. Guess it's my turn now."
"Cú!" Mash exclaimed, her eyes widening.
"I thought you were still fighting Archer!" Ritsuka added, his voice filled with relief but also confusion.
"Dealt with him already," Cú replied casually, twirling his staff. "Now, let's finish this so we can all go home in one piece."
Saber straightened, glaring down at him as if sensing the danger he posed. "You dare to face me?" she hissed, her voice dripping with malice. "Another feral dog sent to be slaughtered."
Cú smirked, his voice brimming with confidence. "Dog? Nah, I'm the Hound of Ulster, lady. And I've got a little something special for you."
With a sharp gesture, Cú plunged his staff into the ground. The air around him shimmered as the faint image of a towering, flaming figure began to materialize behind him. The figure was massive, its body composed of roaring flames and twisting vines—a monstrous effigy that radiated raw, primal power.
"Wicker Man!" Cú bellowed, his voice echoing through the cavern.
The flaming effigy surged forward, its massive limbs engulfing Saber in a whirlwind of fire and destruction. The cavern trembled as the Wicker Man unleashed its full power, consuming Saber in a storm of flames. For a moment, it seemed as though the battle had ended—Saber's corrupted figure staggered, her sword clattering to the ground as she dropped to one knee.
Cú stepped forward, his grin never fading. "Good job, everyone. Now's the time to finish her off." He glanced at Angela. "You, Pale Lady. You wanted her book, right? Go ahead. Make it quick."
Angela moved without hesitation, her cold gaze fixed on Saber as she prepared to deliver the final blow. But before she could reach Saber, a blinding flash of purple energy shot through the cavern, striking Saber directly in the chest. The impact sent her crumpling to the ground, lifeless and still.
"What?!" Angela hissed, her sharp tone breaking for the first time as she turned toward the source of the attack.
A slow, deliberate clap echoed through the cavern, and the group turned to see a figure emerging from the shadows. Lev Lainur, his glasses reflecting the flickering crimson light, stepped into view. His expression was one of frustration and exasperation, his composed demeanor shattered as he sneered at Saber's lifeless body.
"Honestly, I've had enough of this farce," Lev said, his voice cold and sharp. "All this trouble, all this wasted effort… and for what? I don't need Saber. I don't need Caster. I don't need any of these pathetic remnants of Heroic Spirits clinging to this singularity."
"You…!" Ritsuka snarled, his fists clenched.
Mash took a step forward, raising her shield protectively as her gaze hardened. "Lev Lainur… What are you doing here?"
Lev ignored her, his focus entirely on Saber's body as he adjusted his gloves. "A corrupted knight, a hound past his prime, and a bunch of idealistic fools. None of you matter. The Grail is already mine. The rest of you? Irrelevant."
Angela's grip tightened on her weapon, her icy composure returning. "So you're the one behind this singularity."
"More or less," Lev said, brushing off her accusation as if it were meaningless. "But it hardly matters now. Your struggle is over. Saber, Caster… all of you are just tools to be discarded."
Before anyone could respond, Cú let out a sharp, bitter laugh. "Hah! A coward hiding in the shadows thinks he's got the last word, huh? Well, I've got news for you."
Cú's form shimmered, his body beginning to fade as the mana sustaining him dwindled. He turned to face Ritsuka and Mash, his grin softer now, almost wistful.
"KID! LADY!" Cú's voice boomed, filling the cavern with an intensity that silenced even Lev. "THIS IS HOW IT ENDS FOR US SERVANTS. EVEN IF WE'RE CALLED TO HELP YOU OUT, IT'S YOU PEOPLE—LIVING HERE, RIGHT NOW—WHO MOVE ON."
Mash's eyes filled with tears as she reached out toward him, but her voice caught in her throat.
Cú raised a hand, cutting her off before she could speak. "But don't forget, explorer... About all those shining stars, brighter than any storm can conceal. THEY WILL BE YOUR GUIDE TO THE HORIZON."
As his form flickered one last time, Cú's voice softened, his final words a quiet, heartfelt farewell. "Keep moving forward. And don't let those stars go out."
With that, Cú Chulainn vanished, his presence fading into the ether.
Mash, Ritsuka, and Angela stood silently, the weight of his words sinking in as the cavern seemed to grow colder. Even Angela, usually so detached, lowered her weapon slightly, her expression unreadable as she stared at the empty space where Cú had stood.
Lev, however, looked unimpressed. "Touching. Truly. But sentiment won't save you."
"Lev…?" Olga's voice trembled, her disbelief evident as she stumbled forward, her hand clutching her chest. "How… How are you still alive?"
Lev's head tilted slightly at her words, his glasses gleaming ominously as he regarded her with amusement. He pushed his hands into his pockets, his casual demeanor only heightening the malice in his tone.
"Ah, Olga Marie Animusphere," he began, his voice mockingly cordial. "So you're still clinging to this miserable existence? I must admit, I didn't expect to see you here."
Olga's expression hardened, her emotions raw as she stepped closer. "You... You betrayed Chaldea! You betrayed all of us! Why?! Why would you do this?!"
Lev's grin widened, and he took a step forward, his presence imposing and suffocating. "Betrayed? Oh, Olga, don't flatter yourself. I was never loyal to Chaldea to begin with. You were all nothing more than pawns in a much grander game. And you? You were the easiest pawn to manipulate."
His words struck Olga like a physical blow, but her resolve didn't falter. She glared at him, her fists clenched tightly. "I don't care about your schemes! What I want to know is how you're still alive! You— You blew yourself up along with the facility!"
Lev's laughter filled the cavern, cold and mocking. "Ah, yes. That. I suppose I should commend you for noticing something most others wouldn't have. But let me ask you something in return, Olga…"
His expression darkened, his grin turning cruel. "How are you still alive?"
Olga froze, the question hanging heavily in the air. Her mouth opened as if to respond, but no words came out. The realization dawned on her like a crashing wave, and her eyes widened in horror.
Lev's voice softened, dripping with mock sympathy as he continued. "You see, I made sure to plant that bomb directly on you. A foolproof plan, or so I thought. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that you somehow ended up in this singularity. At first, I wondered if my handiwork had failed, but then I realized the truth."
He stepped closer, looming over her as his voice grew colder. "You're not truly alive, are you, Olga? You're nothing but a residual spirit, a lingering fragment of the woman who once called herself the head of Chaldea. How pathetic."
"No…" Olga whispered, her voice shaking. "That's not true. I-I'm alive. I have to be!"
Lev laughed cruelly, his words cutting into her like a blade. "Alive? You? Don't make me laugh, Olga. You've been clinging to a borrowed existence, tethered to this singularity by sheer accident. You've accomplished nothing, and you never will. Just like your father always said—a failure to the Animusphere name."
At the mention of her father, Olga's knees buckled, and she fell to the ground, tears streaming down her face. "No… I… I just wanted to make him proud. I just wanted someone to acknowledge me…"
Lev smirked, his hand raised toward her. A sudden glow emerged around Olga as she began to float, her body trembling as if being pulled by an unseen force.
"This singularity has served its purpose," Lev said coldly. "But you, Olga, you're no longer necessary. Consider this my final gift to you."
The air around Olga shimmered, and a faint outline of Sheba, Chaldea's predictive sphere, materialized behind her. Its light flickered ominously, growing brighter as Lev's magic surged through it.
"Sheba will be your eternal companion, Olga," Lev sneered. "Feel infinite death for all eternity, a fitting punishment for a failure like you."
"No! Please!" Olga screamed, her voice cracking as she struggled against the force pulling her into Sheba's grasp. "I don't want this! I don't want to disappear! I just wanted to be praised! I just wanted to achieve something!"
Her cries echoed through the cavern, raw and desperate, but Lev merely watched with a look of cold satisfaction.
Angela, who had been watching silently, stepped forward, her icy demeanor unbroken as she regarded the scene before her. For a moment, her gaze softened, a flicker of pity flashing in her cold eyes. She drew her weapon, its eerie glow casting long shadows across her face.
"Enough," Angela said, her voice calm but firm.
Lev raised an eyebrow, his amusement piqued. "Oh? And what do you intend to do, servant?"
Angela's expression didn't waver as she stepped closer to Olga. "This is pointless. Letting her suffer like this serves no purpose."
Without waiting for a response, Angela raised her hand, her books glowing brighter as she focused her power. "I'll end her suffering. She'll become a book—I will make her a new body, free from this torment."
"What!" Olga cried, her tears streaming as she looked at Angela with pleading eyes. "Please, Angela please save me! I… I don't want to die…"
Angela hesitated for a brief moment, her cold mask cracking as she met Olga's gaze. But her resolve didn't falter. "You're already dead, Olga. But I will give you a second chance to live. Don't worry, this will be painless"
Mash and Ritsuka, too exhausted from the battle, had long since passed out and lay unconscious on the ground. There was no one left to stop Angela as she activated her power.
A soft glow enveloped Olga, her body still trembling as the light grew brighter. Her sobs quieted, her tears falling silently as her form slowly dissolved into countless shimmering particles of lights.
Angela watched silently, her expression unreadable as Olga's spirit was from into a book name "Book of Olga" Angela grab the book with a quiet snap.
Lev, who had been watching the scene unfold, chuckled darkly. "How touching. But you're still too late. The Grail is mine, and humanity's fate is sealed."
With a wave of his hand, Lev summoned the grail to his side, its ominous glow pulsing with malevolent energy. "I am Lev Lainur Flauros," he declared, his voice echoing through the cavern. "Agent of the disposal of humanity. This world is finished."
Before Angela could respond, Lev vanished, taking the grail with him. The cavern grew silent, the oppressive atmosphere lifting as the group was left alone in the aftermath.
Angela turned to Ritsuka and Mash, who still lay unconscious, her cold expression softening ever so slightly as she looked at the battered remnants of the place. She sat down beside them, her book clutched tightly in her hands as she silently watched over them, her thoughts a mystery.
