Chapter 2: Chapter 2 - "Team" A

"This is..."

"Is it that interesting to look at, doctor Archaman?" A hard voice resonated through the medical center, hidden beside the infirmary.

It belonged to Wodime Kirschtaria, the leader of Team A. However, now he looked like a supervisor looking at an employee, even if the roles did not match.

"Kirschtaria. What a pleasant...," He trailed off at the camera in the right corner of the room filled with monitors, noticing the nod the younger man sent him. "Surprise. Are you here to check on your newest member?"

"That is the case. We can talk for some more during this. I had to use Casimir to pay for this favor." Wodime's face broke into a small smile. "Even if it wasn't needed at all."

"Haha. I am sure you will be interested in this." Roman turned his head back to the printed photos on his desk. "It's an unusual case and I think you should take note of it."

The other man left in the room did not speak back. He had told Romani enough pleasantries for today to relax his guard against supervision. Meeting Peperoncino was a lucky occurrence in terms of speed to do this secretly.

He did not harbor anything negative against the Director, his mentor's daughter, but an explanation for this would only lead to further questions he could not afford to answer. Olga Marie Animusphere did not deserve to be plagued by her father's shadow... not that she escaped such a fate.

Now for Casimir's case...

"..." His calm eyes grew serious then relaxed soon after, only to sigh and smile. "Should I say as expected of Team A? Is that a show of arrogance, doctor?"

"..." Roman already seemed to check other people's files to fill up the newest Master's with quite exceptional parameters. "No, I suppose it is only right. Casimir lacks circuits as a whole, his body acting like a conduit for Mana from nature itself. There doesn't seem to be a limit such as just the air. It almost feels like he's-"

"A Nature Spirit. A being created from elements of the world." Wodime glanced at the other files, copies of a certain someone's medical record. "Yet undoubtedly human. No backing from a powerful family to hide his conditi-"

"Well, about that." The doctor held a sheepish smile, pointing at a monitor. "That's what I was really looking at, Kirschtaria."

"...What?"

-

Casimir was counting down on his fingers.

One. Two.

With each passing number, his head throbbed. His hand kept trying to shut his hurt leg from moving.

Three.

Mana seemed to whisper in his ear. The urge to let it slip completely into his body was too tempting.

Four.

Lying on a stretcher under a machine sent him back 2 weeks ago. He could not focus on anything.

"Five~, Ca~si~mir~." A snapping sound swiftly followed.

He threw up in the garbage. Escape felt futile even after coming here away from Britain.

"Courtesy of Beryl, I assume?" Casimir got his head out to see a smirking man with some ear-length maroon hair on the bench he was just staying on. "Don't have to answer, of course."

His voice was still cheerful but in the eyes of the one in a bad mood... He looked like a clown. White boots and tight pants with some black suit that didn't cover much of his abdomen were not a combo he expected to see in his life.

"That, his name? Whatever." His leg made a cracking noise once he got his hands on it again. "Bastard deserved it."

He lost control over the mana and it was almost fully healed, but...

"Well~ I certainly won't disagree. My friends are not always the greatest."

"So what do you want?"

"Just to see the new member, of course."

"You are also Team A?" Casimir's tone was so deadpan it made the man laugh so much that even someone from the other half of Chaldea could hear.

"Scandinavia Peperoncino, but a simple Pepe is preferable. The pleasure is all mine." His green eyes closed while his mouth formed a smile so big it unnerved the viewer. "A piece of advice I hope you will think about until our next meeting: don't act tough and stay stuck in the past. Keeping injuries as a way to remind yourself of your bad deed will only lead to more."

"..." It struck a deep cord within him, but he tried hard to not show it.

"Of, look at me. I got so serious I forgot to have fun with you. Still, there's always tomorrow to make it better." Pepe dusted off the nonexistent dust on him and left while waving.

Regardless of his mostly kind words... he still looked like a clown. Casimir hoped Chaldea had combat uniforms.

Actually, maybe not. He did not have a good streak of keeping clothes in one piece. His only good suit has been looking horrible since waking up.

-

Chaldea.

A somewhat secret organization destined to save the world or something.

But now it was a tough challenge for Casimir to get used to it. Why?

The weird people?

Magecraft?

Nuclear walking bombs that are Servants he's somehow supposed to summon?

No. It had a white interior. Too much white.

The walls. The furniture. The fricking people.

Even his colleagues had it somehow, hair or clothes, but there were 2 saving graces. Daybit and...

"Seriously, isn't this too easy?" A young woman with brown twin tails spoke exasperatedly to the other players of the game.

That being Casimir lying down on the floor while mumbling to the ceiling about monsters and a young man with white hair and gray clothing, Kadoc Zemlupus. It's the fourth time they got defeated at this racing game today.

"Even Hinako is better than us..." He glanced at his fallen "teammate", this time not because of his leg.

Note: Hinako Akuta did wear white attire most of the time. Casimir was just lucky to find her in black clothes. A fact he will despair over later.

Initially, Kadoc was minding his own business and going without a destination until he found a console randomly. Casimir was the second to arrive, being lost while trying to find his room. They played several games like coop, shooters, and fighting until settling down with car ones.

A challenger appeared right after, Kirschtaria. In fact, it could be very easy to defeat him. He took the long route, not even looking at shortcuts, but the other 2 failed so badly with turns or tricks they lost.

The leader seemed to want to talk to Casimir until just leaving. The newest member's only thought after meeting him was "a noble".

The most ridiculous player was next, Daybit. Whether it was through glitches, luck, or pure skill, the man always won in the last few seconds. That loss was not that hard on the others because it felt like they were fighting a force of nature.

Pepe came too and was in the middle of the race while talking to them until he suddenly looked like he had become the best player in the game for 10 seconds. Perhaps gaining his hatred was not on anyone's bingo list.

Hinako was actually in the room before everyone else, but she kept reading her book and didn't even acknowledge the others until she turned a page. If you would ask her how she ended up playing, she would leave with no answer.

"It's a stupid game. You're the ones bad at it." A frown appeared on Casimir's forehead and a sigh escaped Kadoc's mouth at her blank tone. "This was a waste of time, but oh well, welcome..."

"Casimir."

"Welcome to Team A, Casimir. Don't die. Or do if you want." Hinako left with her books without saying another word.

'Really... I get saving humanity, but how is this a team?'

-

Didn't expect people to actually look at this so thanks to everyone reading it.

I will say that I don't have that much free time so expect updates to suck (truly a Fate fanfic).
