Faulty Utopia

Chapter 530: Chapter 540: Supermarket

In the body supermarket, not many people were shopping in person; most opted for the store's drone delivery service, so Old Six and Three Quarters' filming didn't attract much attention.

"You know, Sun Jack is really generous, giving away so much profit for free. It's okay if he didn't give any to me," Three Quarters gossiped with Old Six during a work break, leaning on a nearby shelf.

"Bro is such a moron, as you already know."

"Ain't that the truth."

Three Quarters grabbed the syringe stuck in Old Six's arm, pulled it out full of blood, and then injected it into himself.

After a hit of second-hand drugs, Three Quarters turned to Old Six. "Hey, I heard the brothels in Paris are really unique. How about we check them out after work?"

After thinking for a moment, Old Six shook his head, "Nah, I'll pass. You go ahead."

Three Quarters looked at him, puzzled. "What? Did your tastes change?"

Old Six glared back. "Fuck you! I just think it's pointless. All that stuff is just flesh and piston movements ~ I'm sick of it."

"Really?"

"Of course, I didn't even bring my dick today."

"Where did you put it then?"

"Figured I won't need it anymore, so I locked it up in a safe, to keep it from being stolen."

While they chatted, the supermarket doors suddenly erupted in noise. As they turned to look, they saw several Three Quarters dressed in various outfits storming in, their faces filled with indignation.

"What the hell is going on!" Three Quarters, seeing so many versions of himself, suddenly filled with hostility.

"It's not fair!! We can be directors too! We can make movies too!" They protested loudly in the supermarket.

Facing different living conditions, the originally like-minded Three Quarters started having different thoughts.

"What directors! What movies! I'm the director personally appointed by Sun Jack! What right do you have to compare with me?" Three Quarters yelled. "If you have the guts, go find Sun Jack!"

"You think we didn't try?"

"And then?"

"Then he beat us up badly and threw us out."

"Well, that settles it, doesn't it? It's not my fault you can't be directors anymore, just bad luck."

Three Quarters said to the crowd. Initially, he thought his job was so-so, nothing special, but seeing so many Three Quarters worse off than himself, he suddenly felt superior. He suddenly thought that life wasn't too bad after all.

Since they were all directors in the past, whose director one becomes hardly matters.

The two groups argued intensely, their voices rising in anger. Amid the crowd, a Three Quarters with a mechanical arm, seeing the smug look on his opponent, felt his anger boiling.

"You're proud of that?! Being beaten by a former role and then meekly working for others, you scum!"

"Holy Grail and Metropolis are both fucking gone! What's the use of talking all that crap to me?"

"Then we should find a way to defeat Sun Jack again, take back everything we once had! Kill Sun Jack!"

That declaration silenced everyone, and all eyes, including those of the supermarket cameras, turned to him.

Seeing everyone looking at him, he laughed nervously and scratched his head. "Oops, accidentally said what I was thinking."

The next second, accompanied by an explosion, his head was blown to bits, blood splattering everywhere. Old Six slowly holstered his gun. "So~ is that what you all were thinking too?"

"No no no, how could that be? We're not like him!" The other Three Quarters quickly shook their heads, terrified of meeting the same fate.

"You're no longer people of the Holy Grail, and there will be no more people of the Holy Grail from now on. If you can't correct your mindset and start over, things might not go so well," Old Six said, shaking his head.

Hearing this, Three Quarters hastened to agree, "How could that be? Three Quarters is already dead, and we're all clones from the Holy Grail."

"We're oppressed too! If Sun Jack hadn't saved us, we'd have definitely ended up as sex slaves. We're sworn enemies of the Holy Grail!!"

After that, as if to differentiate themselves from the past Three Quarters, several picked up face armor from a fridge and put it on.

Hearing this, Old Six nodded in approval, "Compared to other places, our propaganda department still needs people. It's great that you all can see things clearly! Now, we are going to film a recruitment ad, so let's all work hard together!"

Hearing this, the Three Quarters burst into smiles, knowing that having a job in these times was already the best thing.

Without the vast capital of the Holy Grail, without the previous corporations, without their high-tech bodies, they not only lost their immortality, now even getting food was a problem.

"Is it just you guys? Did Holy Grail only clone you few?" Old Six asked, pointing at the group.

"No, some others ran off secretly, or left for nearby border towns during the evacuation of Metropolis. Most of those left had cut ties with their past virtues."

"Alright, break's over. Let's all go film the recruitment ad. Let's see whose tamed AI has better output and quality." The group walked out, leaving only a headless corpse on the ground.

However, soon, Paris's corpse collection robots arrived and swiftly removed the body, cleaning up all traces around.

With the effort of all the Three Quarters, soon, Paris's subnet was flooded with recruitment ads of various styles and forms.

Even during the breaks of Sun Jack's live-action TV shows, the ads began broadcasting.

However, Sun Jack didn't want just any soldier; in this era of technological warfare, he needed elite talents, competing for the FFP resources of Paris, including the human resources.

Despite all this, the recruits were still arriving in droves, especially since they saw Sun Jack deliver on his promises.

Caught in the beam of light, Smith looked anxiously at the spacecraft carrier floating above his head, then back down at the endless lines of recruits on the ground. He had decided to join Sun Jack's troops after seeing the recruitment ad.

He had seen Sun Jack's live-action shows online before, and though they claimed to be genuine, he thought they were fake, all made up.

But when he saw his own girlfriend transform into Sun Jack and rescue him, he realized it was all real.
