Chapter 5: Dilemma on a rainy night and unexpected reconciliation
In the wind and rain, Su Ran took a taxi back to the old neighborhood where he had lived for two years. After getting off the bus, he subconsciously looked for Xu Tianna's Audi Q7, secretly praying that the car was not there. Fortunately, the car was not downstairs. Even more fortunately, the key to the house was still in his hand. He thought optimistically that anyway, Ban Die would only stay for one night, and if Xu Tianna didn't come back tonight, everything would be solved smoothly.
Su Ran ran back to the house as fast as he could, quickly put his luggage back in place, made the bed, and then stood at the bus stop with an umbrella, waiting for Ban Die to arrive.
About a quarter of an hour later, a bus from the long-distance bus station slowly drove over. Su Ran stretched his neck to look and saw Ban Die getting off the bus with a briefcase.
He waved and shouted: "Ban Die, this way!"
Ban Die walked to him with some surprise and asked: "Didn't you go to dinner with your colleagues?"
"Eating is a small matter, your coming is a big matter, I know the difference between the important and the unimportant." Su Ran said, taking over Ban Die's briefcase and helping him carry it.
Ban Die said nothing more and followed Su Ran into the community.
Su Ran complained: "Ban Die, you are on a business trip at public expense, you can just take a taxi next time, it's not like you won't be reimbursed."
"Public expenses are also money, and every bit you can save is a bit." Ban Die said in a serious tone.
"Our country has so much foreign exchange reserves, it doesn't matter if you take a taxi."
Ban Die didn't respond anymore. He has always been like this. As long as he believes that he is right, he is unwilling to explain more, as if he lives in his own world, just like he has been a deputy section chief in the unit for fifteen years, sticking to his principles.
Back in the house, Bandie took out a stainless steel lunch box from another bag and said to Su Ran, "This is the wild crucian carp I caught last week. Your mother cooked it and asked me to bring it to you. You can heat it up when you want to eat it, or it doesn't have to be hot."
"Let's eat it tonight."
Bandie looked at him in confusion, "Didn't you eat it with your colleagues?"
"It's different when you come. I came back halfway through." After saying that, Su Ran hurriedly changed the subject, "By the way, Bandie, did you bring the glutinous rice wine brewed by my mother?"
Bandie nodded and took out a bottle that originally contained orange juice from his bag. It was the glutinous rice wine that Su Ran liked.
Su Ran and Bandie each poured a glass of glutinous rice wine, ate the cooked crucian carp and peanuts, and chatted while waiting for the white rice porridge in the rice cooker.
Su Ran was a little nervous, afraid that Xu Tianna would come back suddenly. It would be fine if she was scared, but it would be bad if she was exposed in front of Bandie.
Just after a cup of glutinous rice wine was drunk, footsteps were heard outside the door, followed by the sound of a key being inserted into the lock. Su Ran panicked, glanced at Ban Die, and then looked at the door.
The door was opened, and Xu Tianna walked in. The scene in front of her made her stunned. Ban Die didn't have any special reaction, just thinking that she was Su Ran's roommate, or his girlfriend.
Before Xu Tianna could speak, Su Ran hurried forward to hold her arm and asked with concern: "Have you drunk? I'll help you into the house, don't be polite, everyone is sharing a house, this is what we should do."
While saying polite words, Su Ran took advantage of the angle that Ban Die couldn't see, raised his hand to cover Xu Tianna's mouth, and pushed her into her room in a few steps.
"Scum, let me go!" Xu Tianna struggled and said vaguely.
"Don't make a sound!" Su Ran lowered his voice.
Xu Tianna struggled to take out her mobile phone from her pocket. Su Ran knew at a glance that she was going to call the police. Her behavior was indeed enough to break into a private house.
He snatched the phone, pushed Xu Tianna down on the bed, and rode on her to prevent her from struggling. He didn't care how awkward the position was at the moment.
Su Ran lowered her voice nervously and said, "If you scream and my dad hears me, I'll be done!"
Xu Tianna ignored him completely, her face full of fear, and instinctively raised her hand to grab Su Ran's hair tightly.
Su Ran grimaced in pain, but didn't dare to say a word: "Be gentle, you're almost pulling my hair off!"
"Scumbag!" Xu Tianna, whose mouth was covered, continued to curse.
Su Ran also said angrily: "I'm a scumbag, okay!"
Then he pleaded in a low voice: "But my dad has high blood pressure. If he knew that I was penniless and had no place to live, he would be so angry that he would get sick. Big sister, please pity me, just for one night, he's here on a business trip and will leave tomorrow morning. I promise I will never bother you again."
Xu Tianna finally stopped struggling and let go of Su Ran's hair, but still stared at him with eyes full of hatred and disgust.
Su Ran carefully released the hand covering her mouth, and this time she did not yell again.
Su Ran breathed a sigh of relief, and then realized that she was still riding on Xu Tianna. Just as she was about to get up with an apology, Xu Tianna twisted her body and pushed hard, and Su Ran fell directly off the bed with a "thump".
"Su Ran, what are you doing in there?" The father asked after hearing the noise.
Su Ran replied with pain: "I bumped into the cabinet..."
The father did not ask any more questions, and Xu Tianna looked at Su Ran with a smile after revenge.
"I warn you not to talk nonsense, my dad really has high blood pressure and can't stand stimulation, you stay in the room and don't go out."
Xu Tianna neither agreed nor denied.
Su Ran made another gesture of asking, but she still didn't speak. Su Ran could only comfort himself and think that she acquiesced, and looked at her pleadingly, then closed the door and walked out of the house.
When they came to the living room, Bandie had already gone to the kitchen to get three bowls of rice porridge and said to Su Ran: "Su Ran, give that girl a bowl of porridge. She should eat something after drinking. She can't be hungry."
"Let her rest."
As soon as Su Ran finished speaking, Xu Tianna came out of the room with a handbag.
Based on what Su Ran had done before, Xu Tianna would not be too much even if she cut him into pieces. Exposing him in front of Bandie at this time was really his retribution.
Just when Su Ran was so nervous that his legs were weak, Xu Tianna walked towards the door without looking away. It seemed that she planned to leave the house to Su Ran tonight.
But at this moment, the usually dull-witted Bandie said to Xu Tianna, who had not yet walked out of the door: "Girl, I've got you a bowl of porridge, drink it while it's hot."
Su Ran was hoping that Xu Tianna would leave quickly, and kept winking at her. Unexpectedly, Xu Tianna looked at Su Ran, then nodded to Bandie and said, "Thank you, uncle."
In this way, the two people who were just at loggerheads sat at a table and drank porridge. Su Ran was always like a thief who had done something wrong, and she didn't say a word, always on guard against Xu Tianna saying something she shouldn't say.
Su Ran glanced at Xu Tianna from the corner of her eyes from time to time, and couldn't guess what she was thinking, but she didn't seem to have the intention of reporting herself to Bandie, and just drank the porridge in small sips.
Bandie was always dull and focused on eating, so he finished his porridge first, stood up, picked up his handbag, and said to Su Ran: "Someone is staying here, I'll go to the hotel."
Su Ran looked at Xu Tianna and said to Bandie: "Bandie, don't leave, just sleep with me."
"I snore a lot recently, you have to go to work tomorrow, I can't disturb your sleep." Bandie shook his head, took out a sweater from the bag and handed it to Su Ran, "Your mother knitted a sweater for you."
Su Ran took it and looked at it, and asked in confusion: "Why did you knit two pieces?"
"When you have a partner in the future, I will give it to your partner. The sweaters knitted at home are thick."
Su Ran smiled helplessly, he knew that Bandie and his mother were subtly reminding him to find a girlfriend again.
He looked at Xu Tianna who was still drinking rice porridge, and teased: "It's cold, I'll give you a sweater later."
Xu Tianna glared at him, and finally did not get angry in front of Bandie, Su Ran was secretly glad in his heart.
Before leaving, Bandie counted out three thousand yuan from his wallet and handed it to Su Ran: "Take it."
Su Ran smiled nonchalantly: "Why are you giving me money? I don't need it."
Bandie stuffed the money into his hand: "You are my son, don't I know you? I have told you many times that you should plan your money. Find time to pay the water and electricity bills." As he said that, he glanced at the water and electricity bills that fell on the ground a few days ago.
Su Ran suddenly felt sour in his heart. He knew that he was not a son who made his parents worry-free. He stuffed the money back into Bandie's hand: "I really don't need it. My mother is not in good health. You can keep it to buy health products for her. I will get my salary next week."
Bandie said nothing more, put the money on the table, looked at Xu Tianna again, and walked out the door alone.
Su Ran caught up with Bandie and sent him downstairs. The silent father said to him: "The girl just now is good, she is pretty."
Su Ran held the father and pointed to the Q7 parked next to him and said: "Father, don't think about it, she is not someone I can afford. See that car? It's hers."
Father followed his gaze and looked at the red Q7, with a puzzled look on his face. He must have wondered why Xu Tianna drove such a good car but lived in such a shabby place.
Finally, Father chose to remain silent out of habit. He was helpless about Su Ran's poor current situation. After all, in this realistic era, money plays an increasingly important role in love. Su Ran asked him not to fantasize, but he himself was the same.
That night, Father left a sentence "work hard" and left with an umbrella in the rain.
Su Ran looked at Father's gradually aging figure in the rain, and read his expectations from this sentence. He hoped that Su Ran could work hard, find a good girl, and start a family. But Su Ran is now trapped in helplessness and struggle, bound by all kinds of reality. Those beautiful expectations will have to wait for now.
