Food Truck Owner Inside the Dungeon

Chapter 19

Dungeon Food Truck Owner – Chapter 19

“Kamang, I’ll be stepping out for a bit.”

“Just to meet a friend nearby?”

“I’m not lying! Why would I lie to you?”

“Hey! I mean… um… it’s not like I have no friends!”

Ji-eun’s plan to secretly meet Song Juhyeok without telling Kamang was utterly shattered by Kamang’s logical deductions.

“Is that a good thing, Kamang?”

In the end, Ji-eun had to confess to Kamang that she was going to meet Song Juhyeok and explain all her concerns.

What Ji-eun wanted was to cook and sell food, feeling fulfilled, but she was also aware that if her skills became known, guilds or high-level hunters might threaten her.

“Kamang, I’ll eventually level up, and after that, I’ll only sell on the safe floors 1 and 2.”

“No, if I keep selling in the same place every day, it’ll make others think I’m restricted from selling elsewhere.”

“And the furthest I’ll go is to floor 3. Since I had a customer yesterday, there’s a witness now, so to proceed as safely as possible, I’ll only sell in the Despair Valley on floor 3.”

Even floor 3 was a stage for mid-level hunters. Expanding her business to floors 4 and above would make it hard to avoid the suspicion of guilds and high-level hunters who operated there.

“But as you know, there’s a problem.”

“Right, and that’s Song Juhyeok. So, I’m going to meet him under the pretense of returning this Gate Stone.”

“So, I’m planning to ask him for a favor.”

“He’s someone who came to the center of floor 4 alone. He’s the local ranking No. 1 hunter. He probably won’t know that I can access dungeons above floor 4.”

“So I need to mix in some truth. It’s true that I could randomly get to floor 4 thanks to my class’s special skill…”

“Only within the range of dungeons where the bosses have been defeated.”

Combining the information she had gathered from the Hunter bulletin board, this seemed to be the most plausible deception.

After all, the boss on floor 4 had been defeated by the Cheongmyeong Guild, which Juhyeok led, and the path to the boss on floor 5 had yet to be explored.

“Didn’t you know? My intelligence stat is high.”

“So anyway, I need to meet Song Juhyeok first and pretend to reveal my hand so he won’t suspect me.”

Ji-eun bitterly added to Kamang’s words.

“I think so too, but there’s always a chance. A person with power can easily force someone without it to submit.”

“If I feel he’s a good person, I’ll propose a trade.”

“Hey, runaway youth! Have you had any success?”

The door to the Cheongmyeong Guild Leader’s office burst open.

The only person who could casually address Juhyeok as “hey” while entering was Kim Sung-jin, Juhyeok’s friend and the deputy leader of the Cheongmyeong Guild, ranked No. 5 locally.

“No matter what, it’s impossible to go to floor 5 without a healer. Why are you even asking?”

Juhyeok, who had been leaning over his desk, glanced at Sung-jin with a faint smile before continuing his previous activity.

As Juhyeok doodled on a blank sheet of paper, Sung-jin plopped down on the sofa and said,

“You haven’t had any significant results, yet you’re talking about the floor 5 hunt in an official capacity?”

“Hmm…”

“Why? What’s bothering you so much?”

“Sung-jin, I need to find someone.”

“Someone? What do you mean?”

When Juhyeok suddenly mentioned needing to find someone, Sung-jin looked puzzled. Juhyeok stood up from his desk, placing a hand over his chest, and said,

“She’s about this tall.”

“Oh, okay.”

“Her name is Min Ji-Eun.”

“What the hell have you done?”

“And she’s an amazing cook. I think she runs a food truck.”

“No, Song Juhyeok. Speak clearly. We need to sort this out now.”

“I haven’t caused any trouble, but I did experiment with something. If I’m right, it could be a big issue.”

“Oh, come on! Can’t you just say it straight? Why are you beating around the bush?”

“Name: Min Ji-eun, Gender: Female, Food Truck. With just these three things, we can find her, right?”

“Of course, we could find her. But what will you do once you do? Apologize and beg for forgiveness?”

“Sung-jin, what do you think the odds are of running into a food truck selling sandwiches inside a dungeon?”

Sung-jin shook his head in disbelief, looking at his friend, who was rambling nonsensically.

No wonder he had almost no friends. What good was being ranked No. 1 if he had a decent face but couldn’t easily escape his own world?

“Make some sense. What’s going on?”

“I saw it.”

“What?”

“I saw it! The food truck. I even bought ten sandwiches from there. They gave me egg sushi and miso soup as a thank-you.”

“Hey, were you sleeping? What kind of dream is that…?”

Sung-jin stopped mid-sentence when he saw Juhyeok’s serious expression.

Juhyeok was looking at him with unwavering eyes, his expression grave. Even though it sounded completely unbelievable, Sung-jin asked Juhyeok again.

“About 160 cm tall, her name is Ji-eun, and she operates a food truck and sells sandwiches. How old did she look?”

“She had a car key on her waist, so she must be in her early twenties at most.”

“I concede. I’ll try to find her.”

“Thanks. If you find her, meet discreetly so it doesn’t leak out.”

“If what you said is true, then a truly astonishing awakener has appeared since the dungeon emergence.”

“If it gets out, it could be dangerous because of greedy people. If my assumptions about her skills are correct, it’s even more so. Please find her quickly. I’m counting on you.”

Nodding, Sung-jin assured him not to worry and left the room.

Since it was a request he made himself, Sung-jin would investigate personally, so finding a woman named Ji-eun shouldn’t be too difficult.

Juhyeok took out the thermos filled with egg sushi and miso soup that he had received as a service that day, and as the memory came back, he couldn’t help but smile.

“That was the best miso soup I’ve ever had.”

Just thinking about it made his mouth water; the food had been that delicious.

He never imagined he would taste such food inside a dungeon. Meeting a food truck in a dungeon was beyond his wildest dreams.

And the woman who created such a miracle was completely unaware, casually giving him a discount on the sandwiches as if she were his first customer.

Since she mentioned she was doing a tutorial, it was clear she had just awakened. She seemed oblivious to the fact that what she was doing was the most miraculous event since the dungeon’s emergence.

Perhaps that’s why she appeared to genuinely enjoy cooking, and he wanted to see that pure smile again.

It had already been a month; he wondered how many sandwiches she had sold since then. Or had she switched up her menu?

It was the first time he had thought about someone he didn’t know for such a long time.

“I want to return that thermos quickly.”

Juhyeok murmured with a soft laugh.

With a pounding heart, Ji-eun stood in front of the Cheongmyeong Guild headquarters, pulling her hat down lower.

Having boldly come to the Cheongmyeong Guild headquarters, she began to worry about how to meet Song Juhyeok once she got inside.

He had been her first customer and had a friendly smile, but he was also the No. 1 ranked hunter in the current South Korean hunter society and the leader of the guild that occupied this large building.

In contrast, she was just a level 1 non-combat awakener—just a pebble on the street.

But she couldn’t stop there. To avoid disrupting her future plans, this was a problem she had to face.

And perhaps she might solve a problem that she couldn’t tackle alone.

She had even brought a whole chicken to enter the guild building thoroughly.

‘Surely one of the guild members has ordered chicken before, right?’

With that hope, Ji-eun brought the chicken in a plastic bag to sneak into the guild, pretending to be a delivery person.

“Ah, I’ve come this far, but I’m not sure. Let’s go!”

Striding confidently toward the main entrance of the Cheongmyeong Guild, she was immediately stopped by the guards.

“Excuse me. What is your purpose here?”

“I… I’m here to deliver chicken.”

A large guard, looking twice her size, held his hand up in front of Ji-eun’s face.

Startled, her body instinctively shrank back, and her voice trembled.

Seeing the small-framed Ji-eun cowering and trembling, the guard quickly hid his arm behind him and said,

“Oh, you’re here for the chicken delivery. I’m sorry for startling you. May I know the name of the employee who ordered it?”

“Let’s see, the name is… Song Juhyeok!”

“Pardon?”

It was straightforward. Who in South Korea hasn’t ordered chicken delivery?

Even though he was the guild leader, he could still order chicken for lunch!

Hoping it would work, Ji-eun confidently stated the boss’s name, and the guards began to whisper among themselves in surprise.

“Well, then we’ll just quickly verify if you’re a combat-type hunter and let you in.”

In the end, Ji-eun’s audacity and meticulous preparation completely fooled the four large guards.

The guard who used a machine to determine if she was a combat-type awakener nodded and stepped aside.

“I apologize for the wait. You may enter.”

“It’s fine! Thank you!”

Ji-eun entered the Cheongmyeong Guild headquarters much more easily than expected. As she passed through the revolving door, she paused for a moment.

The wide lobby on the first floor was bustling with people, and there she stood, a casually dressed woman with a hat pulled low, holding a plastic bag of chicken.

It was Thursday lunchtime, and many well-dressed office workers were gathered in the lobby, either heading out for lunch or going to the dining area.

As Ji-eun walked, the people around her stared curiously at the chicken delivery person.

Suddenly the lobby fell silent as everyone turned their attention to her, and Ji-eun cautiously opened her mouth.

“Um, does anyone know where Song Juhyeok’s office is…?”
