Chapter 27: Chapter 26 Draw You
To tell the truth, Ye Zi agreed to model not just because she was short on cash.
Another reason was her misunderstanding of Cheng Zhu, thinking he was a tall, rich, and handsome guy.
"Which ordinary family's kid would spend twelve thousand to buy test scores, or start an e-commerce business after high school, playing boss on their own?" That's what Ye Zi thought anyway.
That night at the bar, she noticed Shen Minglang getting all excited, shouting about how awesome Cheng Zhu was for winning over seventy thousand in one evening, even hitting the nail on the head with a score of zero.
But this young man seemed pretty calm about it, showing little excitement as if it was just a small event.
Moreover, after flirting so much for days, if Ye Zi's heart was completely still without being stirred, that would be really strange.
Ye Zi came today with the mindset of taking one step at a time, and if the atmosphere really heated up, she'd go with the flow.
"It's not a no, when I think about it, I actually made a gain," she thought on her way over.
But who would have thought that there weren't any sparks at all.
Especially in this kind of product!
Logically speaking, wearing QQ attire should be more enchanting than the emperor's new clothes.
"Could he really be a couple with Little President Jiang?"
Ye Zi, quite confident in her figure, never wasted time overthinking and started to doubt others instead.
And Ye Zi really took in Cheng Zhu's words earlier.
"He said he's really into the 'M' persona?" Ye Zi believed it.
Men usually wouldn't joke about their own preferences.
The photo shoot continued methodically, and now they were on the last set.
Not to mention, this product was pretty traditional Chinese.
Ye Zi even professionally changed her hairstyle, coiling her long hair up to match the Chinese-style clothing better.
With the experience from earlier shoots, the two of them understood each other better, and she grasped what Cheng Zhu wanted, so the last set of seller's show was done especially quickly.
"Finally finished," Cheng Zhu and Ye Zi sat on the sofa together and simultaneously let out a breath of relief.
It had been a four-hour shoot.
Ye Zi, wearing the Chinese-style attire and with her hair coiled up, had a unique charm to her—one word—lustrous!
"That's a wrap, four hours and six minutes in total, shall we just forget about those six minutes?" Cheng Zhu said.
"As you wish," Ye Zi surprisingly agreed easily.
She looked at Cheng Zhu, showing a slightly flirtatious smile, but the words from her mouth completely mismatched her expression, "Actually, I was quite nervous on my way here today."
"Nervous about what? Afraid I'd eat you up?" The young man with a natural arch in his brows deliberately snorted and said, "Please, don't overestimate your charm. You can't handle me."
After speaking, he picked up a pack of cigarettes from the table, took one out, and put it in his mouth.
Just as he was about to light it, a fair hand reached out and took the cigarette right out of his mouth.
"No smoking!" Ye Zi glared at him, having been holding in her breath the whole time, and suddenly wanted to play a prank on him.
"Hey—!" Cheng Zhu turned around annoyed only to find Ye Zi also turned away, her back facing him on the sofa.
"Don't smoke, little brother, it's bad for your health. If you need to smoke, smoke your sister's butt instead."
She spoke with her head down, her expression unclear; but the aura she gave off from inside out was purely 'M', like some kind of animal.
Cheng Zhu reached out his palm as he expected, and sure enough, the rounded peach dodged swiftly.
"You little pervert, you really do like this stuff!" Ye Zi ran barefoot into the bathroom.
The room had one of those sliding doors; she pulled the door halfway closed, then left half her body outside, using a victorious tone, "And you said I couldn't handle you, huh!"
Thump—the door was forcefully shut, but there was no sound of locking, and even a small gap was left.
Cheng Zhu picked up the cigarette from earlier, put it in his mouth, lit it with a lighter, and began to smoke.
His face looked a bit hazy through the smoke.
Cheng Zhu's expression was calm, showing no regret or disappointment for not having succeeded.
"I knew you would dodge that slap," he thought, knowing that Ye Zi was purposefully teasing him.
"But I still slapped."
"Seeing you so tired from the shoot, I was afraid you wouldn't come back next time, so I had to let you feel good about it."
"Isn't this too sweet and doting?"
"Sweet, way too sweet!" He puffed on his cigarette, feeling like a damn considerate man.
However, from the little episode just now, Cheng Zhu came to a conclusion in his heart.
"My act about the 'M' persona was just that, an act, following up on that topic, I made it up."
"But you really seem to take it seriously!"
And he was well aware, with the atmosphere pushed to this point and the bathroom door unlocked, it meant he could walk over and open it.
To refuse first, then run away, leaving a gap, was just a pull and push.
At that moment, he faintly heard a crisp sound coming from the bathroom: "pia—!"
"You'd better be killing a mosquito!" Cheng Zhu extinguished the cigarette, still sitting, and shouted towards the bathroom.
In the bathroom, Ye Zi was still wearing the traditional outfit and hadn't changed back into her clothes.
Her heart was racing, and unable to contain herself, she smacked her own behind quite hard, causing her butt to tremble for a moment.
But her face was flushed redder than her smacked butt and her breathing grew heavier.
This woman, with her ample experience, knew too well that men are easily provoked, especially young men.
"Just then, that should have... provoked him," Ye Zi glanced at the sliding door, her look almost longing.
But a full minute passed, and the door didn't open.
She actually felt a little disappointed.
Standing in front of the huge mirror at the washbasin, Ye Zi scrutinized her own body curves in the mirror, for the first time in her life feeling a bit insecure.
"Has my waist gotten thicker recently?"
"Surely my skin isn't as good as a high school student's."
"Lacking exercise lately, my butt doesn't seem as perky as before."
Cheng Zhu's consistent indifference and her failing to provoke him made her feel less confident, and she suddenly felt like everything about herself was lacking.
Cheng Zhu's continued cold shoulder, for someone like her with her own 'attributes', felt like being lashed with an invisible whip—
—a lash that whipped the soul.
...
...
The seller's show shoot was all finished, and it was now past six in the evening.
Cheng Zhu really left the hotel card with Ye Zi and didn't take away the samples, indicating that she could deal with them herself.
You know, the original scent of these model's clothes would sell for a high price on second-hand platforms...
"There's a KFC nearby, wanna eat?" the famished Cheng Zhu asked Ye Zi.
"I'm dieting, don't eat dinner, but there's still time. If you're eating, I can keep you company," offered Ye Zi proactively.
Cheng Zhu looked at her smiling face. Although it wasn't as cute as Lin Lu's, with adorable dimples when she smiled, it had a charm of its own.
"Then let's go," Cheng Zhu walked straight ahead and ordered a spicy burger meal.
He was really hungry and wolfed down his food.
While eating, he said to Ye Zi, "I'll photo edit them quickly and then send them to you to look at."
"Hmm," Ye Zi nodded slightly.
"Also, I want to schedule another time with you. In ten days, I'll need you for another shoot, so you'll need to clear your schedule for me." Cheng Zhu didn't ask if she was available or willing.
Upon hearing this, Ye Zi suddenly looked up, her eyes sparkling as she agreed cheerfully, "Sure."
Despite the exhausting shoot today, halfway through which she thought about never taking on such work again,
for some reason, she was now looking forward to the second shoot and even planned to engage in more shaping exercises soon.
Cheng Zhu stuffed fries into his mouth and said, "Don't overdo the diet, you've got to maintain that great figure for me! Today's show was perfect."
Ye Zi had heard countless times in her life how great her figure was and should have been tired of hearing it.
But at this moment, her heart inexplicably blossomed with delight.
