Chapter 27: Finished Basic Repairs, The Beta Starts?

I do apologise for any errors, I am writing this chapter with 0 sleep... Besides that, it is a little shorter than usual, but that is fine, it is a perfect setup for the next gameplay chapter!

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

A day or two had passed since I had hired Susan Storm; Susan as i called her. During this period we had received a quote from builders to repair the structural issues and fix the pool. Honestly, looking at it, I would say that everything was fairly simple to complete.

They quoted very high for it all, saying it would require a week. Denying them their bullshit, I told them that it would at most take a day or two with a fully prepared crew. They argued for a little until i started listing off the different machinery and elements that needed to be fixed from what I had found.

After my ranting they accepted the work for the small price of $100,000 and a contract that specified that they would have preferential treatment when it came to future projects. I accepted and the work was finished by the end of the second day, the current day.

Structurally the building was sound and most of the interiors were suitable for minimal working. Of course an entire manor like this couldn't be immediately perfect for a job it wasn't intended for. This was a good start though and would serve as the basis of where the streamers would come to sit down and play... Now all I needed were Computers of a high enough standard to keep up appearances.

For this, I would personally need to update a room to modern standards. With this thought in mind I journeyed to a hardware store and purchased sound proofing material, wooden boards, screws, duct tape and several other components. Tonight I would fix the main dining room, converting it into a gaming area. With all my experience in Tradesmanship it would be easy.

Hours passed by whilst I worked away, securing screws and readjusting power sockets to allow for ease of access. At the same time I set my apartment to the door entrance of where I planned to setup my office. By the end I had a massive dining table desk for the computers. Susan had ordered the PCs for me whilst I continued from this main room out further... Finding the act of repairing cathartic for my stress.

"Freya, would you like me to get those repair crews back to refurbish the rest of the rooms? I could also get some interior decorators and some IT technicians..."

Wiping the sweat from my brow I straightened myself up from my bent over posture, stretching. Looking over at her I nodded content at my choice to hire her. She had been quite the asset and made my life so much easier with her thoughtful actions.

"I'd love if you could do that. I think I have to get the rest of the items ready for our showing of SWTOR."

With immediacy she began calling people, sending messages off and conversing with Picard, who had been working on the exterior of the building, taking the chance to blow off some steam about his resurrection. They were in constant communication due to the nature of the company's beginnings.

'Reminding me... What are my points like right now?'

[Points: 6,442,319]

'Oh, that's good, I could buy another person to help out... No, I need save my points for future updates to my games and also to work towards that central hub. That reminds me, perhaps I should invest some of my millions into leading companies.'

"Freya. The ordered computers have arrived, they need your signature." Picard poked his head through a nearby doorway before walking off.

In response I walked out to the front and met with the Amazon Driver, signing several warranty papers before having the boxes placed down at the front entrance. The entrance itself was awesome looking, mimicking the stone style of castles and keeps. There was plenty of room for three to four cars just outside of the 'lobby'.

Once the van was out of vision I used my telekinetic abilities to lift all of the computer boxes, paraphernalia included. Bringing them inside I spent the rest of my time setting them up and prettifying the space. At this stage however, bed was calling me and my mind was ready to respond...

Saying good night to my two companions I stepped into my 'office' and transferred to my apartment where I soon crashed onto my bed.

'I hope everything turns out well tomorrow...'

...

At the Continental Hotel, New York...

A tall man with red shades and rather suave suit and tie walked into the narrow, extended hallway. Gold lined the hall, marble making the majority of the material used in construction. Golden lights flickered playfully at the edges of ones' vision, highlighting the desk at the end of the small hallway.

"Ah Mr Alucard, a pleasure to meet you once again."

"Yo! Charon! What you been up to...? Any interesting deaths here whilst I've been gone?"

"None whatsoever Mr Alucard. Now, what can we do for you here at the continental New York?"

Alucard shifted his red-tinted glasses and wickedly beamed at the ebony skinned man, a dog sitting beside him. He flared his suit out a touch before answering.

"I need to stay here for a day or two. Also, I need my 'boss' to not know where I am, she gets mad, I get a boner... It's really, really awkward."

"Hah, that can be done Mr Alucard. For a price naturally..." Alucard pulled out gold coins right away, his smile extending even further. "You mean these...? Sure, have some, they are worthless to me anyway."

Coins slid along the desk as the man picked them up with a flexing of sleight-of-hand. His face did not change emotion but his eyes squinting showed the enjoyment he was receiving from this conversation.

"You are the only man in the world that would see these coins as valueless, Mr Alucard."

"Ah, stop sucking my dick. That Wick guy is pretty good as well, bro had millions of coins last time I saw him. Come to think of it, what happened to him? I haven't heard anything bout him for a while."

The playfulness in the desk-man's eyes faded as he spared a quick glance down towards the dog.

"He had retired, for a time. Now, he is back in the business."

"Ohhh...? Good for him! I always say that a slaughter a day keeps the bitches away."

"That might be true... Anyway, here is your room key and if you require anything feel free to call the lobby."

"Thanks... Charmander? I wanna say Charmander..."

"It is Charon."

"Ah! That's it, right, well cya!"

Charon shook his head before putting the coins away in a secure lockbox behind the desk. Alucard walking up the stairs whilst whistling and swinging a set of keys along his fingers.

...

Peter stood beside his best outside of a medieval looking building with thick growing trees and wonderful gardens filled with flowers. This entire trip had been forged by Ned who had received the invite, he the brought along his best friend, Peter, who was fidgeting currently.

"Calm down Peter, it's just a streaming event. Not like we'll be hurt or anything."

"I know Ned, I've just never been to one of these before and don't know what to expect."

Ned placed an arm on his friend's shoulder, his portly face easing the worries a little for Peter. Especially after watching Ned grip his fists in determination. He was suffering from nervousness just as much as Peter was.

"Boys, I am coming in with you."

Peter winced at the words his aunt had spoken, Ned awkwardly smiling as they both turned to face Peter's aunt.

"A-aunt may...-"

"No 'Aunt May'! I am going in, you are both minors and I don't trust anyone other than myself with your safety here."

"It's really fine May! They invited other people as well!" Ned tried negotiating, but the woman had put her hands on her hips and had a certain stance that just screamed 'you're not going to move me from this'.

As the two teens started to grate underneath the tyranny that was their supervisor's efforts to have security, a long black limousine slowly moved down the road. Behind that was a Sudan of similar colouration. And yet again, behind those was a comfortable looking car and an opulent presidential limo with fine gold details.

All of these cars filed in after the car, several security personnel stepping out and opening doors for occupants. They were all dressed in black suits and carried pistols. Kevlar vests were equipped by all of these security guards as the second limo also did this entire spiel. The Sudan parked under a nearby tree, the sun dappling down onto the fallen leaves and black exterior of said car.

With a roar a final car strode down the road, breaking rather roughly before perfectly stopping in the singular parking space left for it. All of the guests of Yggdrasil Interactive were here now, the game was about to start and the day would begin in full.
