Chapter 19: The Start of a Not-So-Generic Date
"Dendra, This is not what it looks like..." Tulip said as she sat in front of her best friend in her room, Her coworker Dishon was sitting on the floor while Tulip took the Bed, leaving Dendra on the couch.
"Tulip, This looks like you were sleeping with my boyfriend," Dendra told her best friend, causing both Tulip and Dishon to perk up.
"I'm your boyfriend?!" Dishon exclaimed as Tulip turned to look at him in shock, prying her eyes away from his still-unbuttoned shirt and his toned abs.
Tulip doesn't have a thing for muscles she swears!
"Yeah," Dendra said nonchalantly, "You're my friend and you're a boy, That makes you my Boyfriend, right?"
Tulip looked back to Dendra as Dishon burst into laughter on the floor, His Salandit slapping him with her tail before he grabbed her and pulled her into a hug.
"Dendra," Tulip tried to say, "That's not what Boyfriend means, And it's also not what happened."
But Dendra stopped her by continuing to speak, "And We had a date planned and everything," She pouted.
"I'm sorry Dendra," Dishon said from his spot on Tulip's floor, "But Tulip preyed on me," He chuckled as he held his Salandit in the air like a parent playing with their child, "She used her Nerdy charms to steal me away,"
Dendra gasped at that and looked wide-eyed at Tulip, "How could you?"
"Dammit stop trying to make this harder than it needs to be!" Tulip yelled at her coworker he responded by throwing his Salandit into the air and catching her.
"Sa-lan-dit! Sa-lan-dit!"
Dishon finally caught his Salandit and placed her on the floor before standing up, Waiting for his partner to climb his pants and wrap around his waist.
"So," He looked to Dendra with a small smirk, "Are the plans still on?" He asked.
"Huh? Oh yeah sure," Dendra smiled back.
"Cool, See you then," He said and walked passed the two girls on his way to exit the room, jumping slightly when Dendra gave his buttocks a flick.
Tulip simply watched with wide eyes as he left her room and started his work for the day.
"Did you just- And he- What the- Huh?" Tulip tried to make sense of things.
"Yosh! Back to the topic at hand," Dendra casually said and leaned into the couch, as if she didn't just physically flirt with Dishon, "I know this wonderful Cafe spot near Kiln street," She lifted her finger and pointed it at Tulip, "I'll forgive you if you meet up with me there later today and pay for me," She smiled at her Best Friend.
"You know what?" Tulip looked into her best friend's eyes, "Fine! I'll be there!"
"Yosh!" Dendra celebrated by throwing her fist into the air, "I'll be there at four-thirty, you wait for me there, I might be a bit late, Give or take five minutes,"
"Four-thirty? I'll be there," Tulip nodded her head at that, "And then we can forget you ever found us like this,"
"Found you like what?" Dendra asked, and Tulip smiled.
"Exactly,"
...............
"You know," Lorenz said as he hovered over Dishon's shoulder in the mostly empty computer room of the Battle Hotel, "When you said there was something I needed to look at, I expected it to be something small that you simply didn't know how to deal with,"
The Alfronda Gym Leader looked at the screen his employee was showing him, and the request from Champion Geeta for a meeting regarding an investigation into the nearby Ruins, and nodded his head.
"Good work kid," He said as he took a step away from the computer, "And I wanted to ask you something," As he said those words, the atmosphere of the room changed completely.
"Your Paycheck is being deposited into your Trainer Account tomorrow," He grabbed an unused chair and sat down next to Dishon, "What will you do with that money?"
Dishon looked him in the eye before he turned his head to look at his Salandit.
"I'll probably start with buying new clothes," He said as he extended his arm to scratch the back of Fanny's neck, "These lost-and-founds I'm wearing are nice and all, but I need actual clothes,"
"And what else?" Lorenz asked him to continue.
"Other than clothes? I'll probably buy a Pokeball or two, never know when a random Shiny might appear in front of me," Hearing that Lorenz looked at Dishon's Salandit, and at the white scales on her body.
"And the rest?" Dishon asked himself out loud, "I'll probably store for the future, Don't know when I might need extra money,"
Unknown to Lorenz, Dishon was lying.
He was planning on saving that money for a car.
No more Flying taxis for him!
"I see," The Gym Leader nodded his head and stood up, "Keep up the good work," He ground out before he turned and left.
"Sure thing Sir!" Dishon called out to him but was ignored as Lorenz slammed the door behind him.
..........
"You know," Tulip said as she looked at the Duo in front of her, "When you told me to be here, I didn't expect you to bring Him along," She pointed a finger at Dishon.
"Why not?" Dendra asked with a smile before she grabbed a chair and sat at the table, ignoring the looks she was receiving from her two best friends, "This is a group date!"
Tulip blinked her eyes at what Dendra said before turning to look at Dishon, whose steel blue eyes were wide open with shock at what Dendra just said, his light-brown hair swaying slightly in the light breeze of the afternoon, his biceps under his short-sleeved flannel caused her eyes to- NO!
She will not be distracted!
"I don't know about this Dendra," Dishon said as he took his seat at the table, "I don't really know what's going on but if Tulip isn't into it I don't feel comfortable,"
"Hey!" Tulip pointed a perfectly manicured fingernail at Dishon, "Don't talk for me, I can defend myself!" Dishon put his hands in the air as a show of surrender before he pulled the menu toward himself.
"Yosh! Now that it's all out of the way, let this three-person Date Begin!" Dendra cheered, her plan to create a group that she will later learn is called a 'Throuple' was moving along.
"So," Dendra asked the two other trainers at the table with her,
"What are we ordering?"
