Genshin Impact's Incense Burner Of Liyue.

Chapter 213: Genshin Impact's Incense Burner Of Liyue [213]

"Quit?"

Gui froze. Working—or rather, training—at Bubu Pharmacy was essentially the pinnacle of Liyue's medical education. Why would anyone in their right mind quit such a position? Only a fool would do something that absurd.

Wait—no. A fool wouldn't even make it into Bubu Pharmacy. Or, if they did, Dr. Baizhu would've cured them on their first day.

"Yes, quit. Take some time off and properly recover. You'll find your complexion will improve tenfold."

Programmers age faster, their skin dries out, and their bodies fall apart. What's the solution?

Not skincare products. Not a renowned doctor or a wandering healer. The answer is simple: quit your job. Results guaranteed.

Gui's face darkened. He realized the man before him was teasing him again.

"This way to the herb storeroom, Xiangjun. Please."

Translation: Can you just leave already? It's too early in the day to delay my business.

---

"Glaze lilies go here. Qingxin flowers, over there."

Inside the storeroom, a green-haired man wearing glasses was carefully preparing medicinal ingredients. On his shoulder, a small white snake suddenly raised its head to glance toward the entrance.

"Well, well, what brings you to Bubu Pharmacy today? How do you even have the time to wander around here?"

"Wander around? Give me a break."

Gu Sanqiu adjusted the gray robe draped over his shoulders. "I'm here to deliver some New Year's gifts. Just came from the orphanage."

"Perfect timing," said the little white snake, Changsheng, flicking its tongue. "Since you're already wearing the required storeroom robe, why not lend us a hand?"

Bubu Pharmacy's rule was clear: anyone entering the storeroom had to wear one of these special robes, infused with secret incense, to preserve the efficacy of the stored herbs.

From Gu Sanqiu's perspective, it was essentially another form of sterilization.

"Where's the old ancestor?"

Without any hesitation, Gu Sanqiu glanced around, then seamlessly joined Baizhu's workflow, noticeably speeding up the process.

"Qiqi is out delivering medicine to some clients," Baizhu replied gently. "Don't worry, they're trustworthy people."

"Trustworthy or not, it doesn't really matter," Changsheng quipped, a hint of teasing in its tone. "After all, she's got helpers now."

Baizhu chuckled. "True enough. Two small finches showed up recently and have been keeping her company. They refuse to leave, and not even skilled martial artists can catch them. This was your doing, wasn't it?"

"Yeah, that was me. They're subordinates of my pet," Gu Sanqiu admitted casually as he moved the processed herbs into the storage cabinet.

"They're quite talented. My pet taught them some basic cultivation techniques, and I supplemented that with a few pills. It's only natural that ordinary martial artists wouldn't be able to catch them."

"I thought so," Baizhu said, shaking his head. "Qiqi seems to adore those two little creatures. She feeds them only the finest grains."

"If finances get tight, I can send you some funds. Make sure they're well taken care of."

"There's no need for that," Baizhu said with a faint smile. "Bubu Pharmacy isn't struggling to that extent."

His eyes sparkled with curiosity. "But since you're so concerned about Qiqi, why don't you visit her more often?"

"If I visited regularly, Gui might lose a year off his life."

"Pfft."

Changsheng burst into laughter. "Nonsense. If anything, Gui would probably love having an extra hand around here to torment him every day."

Baizhu nodded in agreement. "Gui's temperament is fine, but his skills need improvement. There's still a lot of room for growth."

"Haha, anyone who can survive working for you this long clearly has more than just a good temperament. If he pursued cultivation, he'd probably achieve something significant down the line."

Changsheng raised its head. "Hey, stop changing the subject. You still haven't explained why you don't visit Qiqi more often."

"Family rules. There's nothing I can do."

Gu Sanqiu and Baizhu put away their tools as they finished their work.

"One of the Gu family's ancestral commandments is to avoid excessive interaction with immortals unless it's a matter of life or death. Chance encounters are fine, but even our ancestors with ties to the family are off-limits."

Then again, I've probably already broken that rule. My dealings with Madame Ping might be a loophole, but going out to tackle high-difficulty dungeons with Xiao? That's way beyond casual interaction.

"Your family sure has a lot of rules," Changsheng remarked, while Baizhu nodded in agreement.

Gu Sanqiu thought for a moment and couldn't help but agree. "True. Some of the restrictions are a bit excessive."

"Don't worry about Qiqi. She's doing well here at Bubu Pharmacy. With me around, no one with ill intentions would dare cause trouble."

The two men and the snake exited the storeroom. Baizhu pulled out an emerald-green box, opened it, and held it out to Gu Sanqiu.

"Care for one? It's the blend you asked me to develop, infused with medicinal herbs and pill powder. If it weren't for your request to keep it off the market, I'd consider selling it to cover expenses."

Gu Sanqiu shamelessly took the entire box.

"Thanks. I haven't smoked recently anyway—my sister's been keeping an eye on me."

"Don't kid yourself. At your age, who can keep you in line? You've never been one to follow orders easily."

"No, really. She told me it's not great for my health and asked me not to smoke around others."

Gu Sanqiu lit a stick with practiced ease. "Most of my friends don't like this stuff either, so I don't use it in front of them. Wouldn't want to be a bad influence."

"And yet, you don't worry about being a bad influence on me?" Baizhu quipped.

Gu Sanqiu shot a sidelong glance at the green-haired doctor. "I trust that a renowned physician has enough self-control—just like how Gui's developed a subconscious instinct to avoid talking to me more than necessary."

"Gui does have the potential to become a great doctor," Baizhu agreed, biting down on one of the sticks and gesturing for Gu Sanqiu to light it.

"I just praised you… Can't you wait a little before proving me wrong?"

"No harm in breaking the rules occasionally. This Lantern Rite season has me utterly exhausted. People overeating, getting injured during venue setup, and pushing themselves too hard—it's endless."

Baizhu adjusted his glasses. "If it weren't for things quieting down recently, I wouldn't have been able to take Qiqi out to gather herbs."

"Ah, the woes of being a famous doctor. Everyone wants to see you for every little ailment," Gu Sanqiu teased.

Changsheng climbed onto Baizhu's left arm. "That's the easy part. At least they're here to get treated. Some girls claim they have chest pains and insist on private consultations with Dr. Baizhu in a secluded area."

"Changsheng," Baizhu warned, his tone stern.

"Even with your looks, that kind of attention must be a bit much," Gu Sanqiu said, struggling to suppress his laughter. "So, has anyone brought their friends along, asking you to treat them all at once?"

"Do I look like that kind of person?" Baizhu shook his head. "Eventually, I hired a sharp-eyed temp to stand at the door. If those ladies come near, he warns me so I can slip away."

"After all, Bubu Pharmacy has to stay open for business. Ignoring them outright might cause unnecessary conflict."

"By the way, you're one to talk. Plenty of young women outside are dying to approach you. They're enamored with your face. Some even openly plan to visit you at home."

Baizhu smirked, as though he'd just connected the dots. "Oh, wait. You probably don't interact with them enough to notice."

"You're just calling me a shut-in in a roundabout way. So petty!"

Baizhu smiled faintly. "A gentleman takes his time for revenge. A doctor adjusts based on the situation. Good moods make for good health, after all."
