"Old man?"

Xingqiu tilted his head in confusion. "Your family only has you left, doesn't it? Or have you met some elder outside?"

"Thanks for reminding me I'm all alone in my family."

Gu Sanqiu rolled his eyes. "But, yeah, the second part might not be entirely wrong."

Chongyun chuckled sheepishly. "Don't worry, Gu. You've still got us."

"That's right, squad leader," Xinyan added with a grin. "We're here for you."

"Haha, then watch closely, all of you."

Gu Sanqiu laughed heartily. "I'll show you exactly what all this setup is for."

As soon as he finished speaking, a gust of wind swept past. Gu Sanqiu leapt into the air, disappearing from Liyue Harbor in an instant.

"That guy…"

Xingqiu shook his head. "Well, no point watching the kids with the dragon dance now. How about we go check on Xiangling and lend her a hand?"

"Let's do it."

Xinyan enthusiastically pulled out her instrument. "I heard Xiangling and Hu Tao set up a stage near the stall for me. If there's a chance, I'm definitely putting on a show!"

Elsewhere, Gu Sanqiu let out a thunderous howl, his voice echoing alongside waves of elemental energy beyond Liyue Harbor. The sound surged like a storm, drawing the attention of certain entities.

"What's that sound?"

The Millelith soldiers looked up, illuminated by the warm glow of Liyue Harbor's lanterns, and spotted a figure high in the sky.

"Is that… a person?"

Suddenly, howls and roars erupted from all directions, as if responding to Gu Sanqiu's cry. Shapes began converging toward him.

"Trouble! It's the Malefic Gods!"

The Millelith captain shouted, "Everyone, prepare for battle!"

"Die!"

Gu Sanqiu roared, swinging his spear in a wide arc. A blazing white ring of fire ignited, engulfing the charging Malefic Gods and reducing them to ashes.

On the ground, the Millelith stood frozen.

So… what did the captain just order us to do?

"Is that… a master here to help us?"

The Millelith were stunned. Lantern Rite was always their busiest time of year, as Malefic Gods, drawn to the rich aura of mortal offerings, tried to wreak havoc. It was essentially their annual monster-siege event.

While adeptus Xiao handled many threats from the shadows, the Millelith's efforts were vital to Liyue Harbor's protection.

But this year felt… different.

The captain rubbed his chin. The Millelith deployed for Lantern Rite rotated each year to ensure everyone had a chance to enjoy the festivities. Could they simply be lucky this time?

Gu Sanqiu laughed wildly as a flash of emerald light carried him further from the harbor. White flames coalesced into a full suit of armor around him.

"Come on, you idiots! Don't you hate this armor? If you've got the guts, try taking me down!"

He raised his spear high, the white flames bursting into a pillar of light that shot skyward before exploding into a massive firework.

Roars erupted in response, growing louder and more frenzied. The Malefic Gods, near and far, snarled with rage at the detested aura.

"Gu family… Main branch!"

"That accursed stench! It's unbearable!"

"Gu… Saint!"

"Gu Saint!"

The roars melded into a chant, like a name—or perhaps a title, laden with reverence and dread.

Standing on the wind, Gu Sanqiu twirled his spear in one hand. At his hip hung the Demon-Slaying Revolver, though he casually mused aloud.

"If I ditched the gun and added a few extra arms, I'd look just like the Third Lotus Prince right now."

He smirked. "Bring it on, you morons."

---

Far away, Xiao, wearing his yaksha mask, paused mid-battle after slaying a Malefic God. He looked up in confusion as the remaining enemies surged toward a different target.

They weren't fleeing—it was as if something more important had drawn their focus.

"Gu Saint!"

The shout reached Xiao's ears. Startled, the Vigilant Yaksha turned and darted toward the new battlefield without hesitation.

---

Back in Liyue Harbor, a faint crackling of electricity caught people's attention. Soon, the screens Gu Sanqiu had installed began to display images.

"Huh? Is that… Guili Plains?"

A traveling merchant squinted at the screen. "That place is pretty far from here. Are these images real?"

Before anyone could answer, the white-clad figure on the screen formed a hand seal and slammed it toward a darkened area.

Boom!

Thunder roared as violet lightning surged forward, piercing through the Malefic Gods. The people of Liyue Harbor finally saw what the figure was fighting.

"Those are Malefic Gods! How terrifying!"

In the distance, muffled booms echoed. Crowds gathered beneath the screens, murmuring nervously.

"That thunder… was it caused by that person?"

"Has it begun?"

Ningguang glanced up at a screen. She recognized the white figure immediately—it was her younger brother. These live images were being transmitted directly from Guili Plains.

"Kill!"

The battle cries from the screens grew louder as the camera shifted to reveal Millelith soldiers, armed with spears, fighting alongside the mysterious figure.

"Th-That's my son!"

A man in the crowd exclaimed, his eyes wide as he pointed at the screen.

"Your son's there?"

"Yes! But he was supposed to be on Lantern Rite duty outside the city. How could he be here?"

"Then… are these images real?"

Word spread quickly as others in the crowd began recognizing their loved ones on the screens.

"Big brother!"

"Sister!"

"That's my uncle!"

Cries of surprise and recognition echoed through the streets. The crowd's initial doubts faded as they realized they were watching their family members fighting to protect them.

"So this is what our soldiers are doing outside Liyue Harbor—holding back such terrifying enemies for us?"

The once-lively harbor fell silent as the people solemnly watched the battle unfold.

On the screen, the white figure unleashed a cataclysmic field, while the Millelith formed battle formations to pick off isolated Malefic Gods one by one.

"Sturdy as the Millelith, immovable as the mountains! Shields of the people, warders of evil!"

Within the city, Millelith guards on patrol clenched their weapons and echoed the battle cry toward the heavens.

"Sturdy as the Millelith, immovable as the mountains! Shields of the people, warders of evil!"

The air crackled with their collective killing intent. Suddenly, crimson patterns lit up on the screens, absorbing the fiery resolve of both the soldiers and the crowd.
