Chapter 17: Chapter 17 The Irreplaceable Role of Territory
Magic power from the Magic Gem can be absorbed and used at will.
Fang Jie directly absorbed ten units and then initiated the Summoning Skeleton Soldier on the corpse lying on the ground. Magic power flowed through the Magic Wand in his hand, was momentarily enhanced, and then entered the corpse.
Under the transformation of magic power, the corpse gradually dried up; the flesh shrunk back and completely dissolved.
A pitch-black Skeleton Soldier stood up, shook its body, and the blackness fell off, revealing white bones.
A Longsword appeared in the hands of the Skeleton Soldier, just like with other Skeleton Soldiers. However, its strength was better than the initial Level 1 Skeleton Soldiers but not as good as Level 2.
Compared to his own troops, this one had a larger gap.
"Other than the inherent issue of magic power, this summoning actually saves a lot more," Fang Jie pondered, touching his chin. It took one corpse to create a Skeleton Soldier, whereas his own Skeleton Conversion Field required two corpses to make one.
Aside from not consuming magic power, it seems there is no other advantage.
Fang Jie shook his head and continued summoning.
Before long, Fang Jie stopped as he finally discovered the limits to summoning.
"So that's the case, summoning has a numerical limit. No wonder I thought if there weren't any limits, summoners would be the strongest in the world. Just keep summoning and in a few years, one could dominate everything."
Fang Jie had just received a mental prompt that 1 point of spirit could control ten Undead Creatures, but he should not control those of Black Iron level or higher, otherwise he would suffer backlash.
Fang Jie looked and saw that he was actually controlling twenty Skeletons, a result of his own talent.
Undead Splitting allowed one to make two, and could also allow controlling two as one.
Later, Fang Jie once again felt he was different from others because he was a Lord. As a Lord, his control ability had increased tenfold.
That is to say, the real number he could control was one hundred, and with his talent, it was two hundred.
Thus, the maximum number of troops he could handle was four hundred.
"It seems this help isn't too outrageous. Ordinary people can only handle ten Skeleton Soldiers, those with good talents can handle twenty or even thirty. It's a natural disaster level for them, but seems different for me."
Looking at it this way, although there was plenty of Magic Power in the Magic Gem, it wasn't certain if it could be fully utilized.
Afterwards, Fang Jie simply tested his Meditation Skill. Using the Basic Meditation Skill, he could recover one magic power per minute. This rate was much faster than the temporary talent he brought.
However, similarly, the temporary talent did not require meditation, and during meditation, other tasks couldn't be performed.
The temporary talent was at its lowest level. Once the trials were completed, the effect would greatly improve.
"Pitiful, my talent doesn't enhance my Meditation Skill at all."
Fang Jie quickly turned all the corpses in the village into Skeleton Soldiers. He had already dissolved the two Skeletons he had previously summoned. Even so, Fang Jie now had only gained 23 more Skeleton Soldiers, which split to become 46.
Far from replenishing his forces to full requirement.
"Follow me, let's first go and check out the situation in that small town." Fang Jie led the Skeleton Soldiers forward.
In just under an hour, Fang Jie saw the situation in the small town. The patrolling soldiers all had issues; some had dull skin, others had horns growing on their heads.
From the look of it, they were obviously undergoing mutations, already beginning to transform towards demons.
"Kasi, to keep these soldiers under his command, has indeed begun to make his move. This mutation, which makes them stronger, might also be one of the reasons for the Catastrophe Level."
Fang Jie continued to explore and confirm the situation: "But this way seems better, as I don't have to worry about killing innocent people."
As a regular human, Fang Jie still had his bottom lines. Those innocent people, if he had to slaughter them blindly for objectives, at least the current Fang Jie still found it difficult to do.
"What's going on over there?" Suddenly, Fang Jie saw someone pushing a cart out, dripping with blood.
Fang Jie cautiously followed, and eventually discovered a large pit outside the town that had been dug open. A group of people were throwing corpses into it. "Hurry up, don't dawdle."
The people opposite said nothing, threw all the corpses into the pit, then someone began to fill it in.
But after a careless burial, those people all left.
"City Lord Kasi is performing a blood sacrifice, could it be not just one massive killing is needed, but several batches?" While Fang Jie thought this, he walked to the pit and waved his hand to have the Skeletons dig it open.
On the faces of the corpses inside, one could still see expressions of horror.
Their blood vessels were cut open; all the blood from their bodies had been drained.
"How cruel, even those of us from the Undead Camp couldn't do such a thing. Well then, let's take you to avenge them," Fang Jie murmured and then began summoning.
Magic power converged, and a body engulfed by a black mist finally resulted in two Skeleton Soldiers.
Summoning Skeleton Soldiers along with Undead Splitting rapidly increased Fang Jie's forces.
Once one mass grave was emptied, Fang Jie looked nearby and soon found a second. By the time the forces were replenished, some corpses in the pits remained untouched.
Fang Jie thought it over and simply had the Skeletons carry out all the corpses and pile them up in one place.
"Start by eliminating his followers. Aside from that central area, kill anyone in other areas who dares resist."
Fang Jie pointed forward, then his summoned Skeleton Soldiers of two hundred began moving. The two hundred elite troops he brought were not deployed but remained nearby to protect him.
A multitude of Skeletons directly charged towards the town. With such grand movement, how could the town not be aware?
Immediately, the town's alarm bell was rung.
"What's happening, why the alarm?" someone shouted loudly.
"Come back quickly, a large number of Skeletons have appeared, someone is attacking," the people guarding the town shouted while directing the town's soldiers to defend. It was a not-so-large town without Stone City Walls, only having wooden walls.
Due to neglect over the years, there were numerous gaps around, and these gaps had become key points in the battle.
