God Level Farmer In Another World

Chapter 142: Chapter 142: Which Big Shot Is Here?

Chapter 142: Which Big Shot Is Here?

Liam Carter felt a bit deflated.

He had initially believed he was the only one receiving such VIP treatment, personally greeted and escorted to the interview by a stunning hostess.

Who would have thought everyone else had received the same treatment?

He had already asked several people, and they all confirmed they were escorted by beautiful receptionists who seemed to know their profiles by heart.

"Hey, which university did you graduate from?" Liam asked a young man sitting beside him, suspecting the room was filled with candidates as outstanding as himself.

The young man looked a bit shy, his smile awkward.

"I graduated from North Sea University of Light Industry."

Liam froze for a moment.

"That's it?"

The young man blinked innocently.

"Yeah, North Sea University of Light Industry is a college."

Liam was speechless.

Sure, anyone who made it to college was already impressive. They were either well-connected or top achievers in high school.

But North Sea University of Light Industry was just an average institution!

How could someone with such credentials receive the same VIP treatment as him?

Liam concluded that the company must be ridiculously rich—and its boss might be a bit naive.

Otherwise, how could they afford such highly professional employees?

The reception staff alone must cost Restart Biotechnology Company a fortune!

And about the "naive" part... Why would someone with such a mediocre résumé enjoy the same treatment as him?

Liam had initially believed the company's boss was desperate to recruit talent like him. He had even felt smug about it.

Turns out everyone was treated the same way!

All this time, he had been deluding himself with narcissistic fantasies!

"Is this company's boss just an idiot with too much money?!" Liam thought through gritted teeth.

He muttered complaints, but deep down, he felt disappointed.

Alexander, in fact, was very wealthy. Almost every KTV, bar, and bathhouse in the South Sea was owned by the Mercenary Guild.

The monthly revenue they generated was beyond imagination.

Alexander no longer cared about money.

Every receptionist here earned a salary of 10,000 solars per month—a highly attractive income even in the New District.

These receptionists weren't born into wealth.

Earning such a high salary was worth a little extra effort on their part.

Alexander, however, paid little attention to the interviewees. Only those who passed the interview would catch his interest.

To him, all these people—whether interviewees or receptionists—were mere mortals.

When someone reaches a level of power beyond human comprehension, they become a higher lifeform.

No farmer would worry about whether feeding millet to a rooster and scraps to a duck was unfair.

Just then, the quiet murmurs in the room ceased, and the meeting room fell silent.

Liam raised his head in confusion.

At the front of the room, a staff member from Restart Biotechnology Company was distributing something to each interviewee.

Finally, it was Liam's turn. The staff handed him an ultra-thin tablet computer.

The tablet displayed a set of test questions.

The staff member politely announced:

"This is the test prepared for you by the company. Please answer quietly and refrain from looking around.

Anyone caught cheating will not be hired."

Liam froze at these words, followed by a wave of indignation.

Did they even read his résumé properly?

With his credentials, they still wanted to test him?

How disrespectful!

Do they even know who they're dealing with? I've published papers in Nature!

This was like making a high schooler do elementary school math drills!

Liam felt like a "thoroughbred horse misunderstood by its trainer."

The real issue was that he had placed himself on too high a pedestal. The hospitality of the receptionists had made him feel like the chosen one.

Now, the gap between his expectations and reality hit hard.

Just as Liam was about to leave in frustration, the door to the meeting room opened.

Liam glanced up—and couldn't look away.

In walked a mature woman dressed in a black pinstripe business suit.

Her figure was stunningly curvaceous, and her face exuded an elegant allure.

To Liam, she made every woman he had ever known seem unworthy of being called a woman.

But the most striking thing about her was her noble and refined aura.

"Ms. Yvette, you're here," the staff member said, bowing respectfully upon seeing her.

The woman was none other than Yvette.

Alexander's finances were managed entirely by Yvette.

Restart Biotechnology Company was Alexander's first venture.

Lacking a head for business and the time to manage the company, he naturally relied on Yvette as his steward to handle things diligently.

Yvette adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses on her elegant face and spoke with the poise of someone long accustomed to authority:

"I am the general manager of Restart Biotechnology Company. I hope you all succeed in this assessment, and I look forward to working with you in the future."

Liam Carter, who had been on the verge of storming out earlier, settled back into his seat.

He suddenly found himself intrigued by the test in front of him.

Encountering such a striking superior, his competitive spirit as a man was instantly ignited.

Especially as someone exceedingly confident in his area of expertise.

Casting a dismissive glance at the other candidates around him, he thought, Are these people even qualified to be my competitors?

Liam had already envisioned himself breezing through the questions, earning admiring glances from his beautiful boss.

Then he'd deliver a casual yet striking comment, something like, These are just the basics. I'm far more qualified than your company might expect.

A smug smile tugged at Liam's lips as he confidently opened the tablet.

And then, he froze.

"What... what kind of questions are these?!"

The questions on the test were so advanced they went completely over his head.

He was certain they weren't randomly made-up gibberish.

As the saying goes, amateurs watch the spectacle, while experts look for the substance.

The depth of expertise and the level of evaluation reflected in the questions made it clear that whoever created them possessed an exceptional mastery of the field.

Liam stared at the tablet in shock:

"The test designer has such profound knowledge of virology, immunology, and demonology?

Which top expert from the scientific community is working in this lab?"

Frowning, Liam tried to rationalize:

"Maybe these questions were bought by the company. With so much money at their disposal, it's possible."

Two grueling hours later, Liam finally finished the test, forcing himself to answer each question despite the difficulty. He submitted the answers and leaned back in his chair, letting out a sigh of relief.

By now, most of the candidates had left the room. Only seven or eight remained, sitting quietly, their brows furrowed in concentration.

Liam smirked faintly.

Suddenly, his tablet flickered, catching his attention.

Curious, he glanced at the screen. Could there have been a glitch after he submitted the test?

"Hmm?"

Liam nearly shouted in disbelief.

The test had been graded in just five minutes.

The evaluator had marked his experimental data with detailed corrections and even provided critical insights into his theoretical assumptions.

"He reviewed everything I wrote in such a short time?

This... this person's expertise surpasses mine by a wide margin!

He's even more knowledgeable than my mentor!"

For the first time, Liam felt genuine humility toward the fledgling company.

His previously high-held head instinctively lowered a bit.

Liam now looked at Yvette with newfound respect, his earlier arrogance replaced by a sense of urgency to secure a position here.

How could he not? A company with substantial funding, a pleasant environment, and such unparalleled expertise—where else could he find anything like this?

Even if it was just to learn a little from whoever created that test, Liam thought to himself, it would be worth joining this company.
