Chapter 146: Chapter 146: The Succubus
Chapter 146: The Succubus
A tall figure appeared outside the warehouse. It was a handsome young man, holding a longsword with a confident demeanor and a faint, cocky smile on his lips.
This was Jang Hyun, the last disciple of the Beast King, the guardian of the academy.
"A pretender? I didn't expect there to be one in South Sea City," Jang Hyun said with a disdainful tone.
Sister Diana shifted into a languid posture, eyeing Jang Hyun with amusement.
"Handsome, sure, but not very smart," she remarked with a sly grin.
Jang Hyun's eyes narrowed, radiating murderous intent. "You dare mock me? Tonight, I'll put an end to your tricks!"
Diana smirked playfully, unbuttoning three buttons of her blouse to reveal a glimpse of snowy white skin.
"And how will you stop me, handsome?" Her tone was sweet and sultry, enough to make anyone's heart race—even Jang Hyun felt a surge of heat in his abdomen.
Jang Hyun bit the tip of his tongue hard, snapping out of it and shouting angrily, "Shameless thing, using seduction techniques!"
He leaped into the air, sword in hand, and lunged at Diana.
Diana tilted her head slightly, the sharp blade slicing through the air just past her ear. The sound of it cutting the wind was audible.
"You really have no regard for beauty, do you?" Diana teased, her words playful as she even stuck out her crimson tongue and licked the sword's blade.
Furious, Jang Hyun activated his spiritual condensation technique, channeling his spiritual energy into his body. With his sixth-grade spiritual mastery and D-tier abilities, he launched his most powerful beheading strike.
Jang Hyun was confident that anyone below C-tier, be they an awakened individual or a monster, would be slain instantly by this attack.
But in the next moment, Jang Hyun froze.
Diana had caught his sword with her bare hand! Her pale, delicate hand remained unscathed, not even a scratch.
Jang Hyun tried to withdraw his sword, but Diana's grip was astonishingly strong.
Holding the sword, Diana chuckled mischievously. "You want to pull it out that badly?"
In the stalemate, Jang Hyun asked in a low voice, "What are you, exactly?"
Diana gazed at him with an alluring look that could tempt anyone into sin. "That young girl awakened her innate talent at such a tender age; her taste intrigues me.
But now I've met someone even more intriguing. Handsome, I wonder what you taste like."
Jang Hyun's eye twitched. What kind of audacious nonsense was this?!!!
Jang Hyun replied calmly, "Evil like you has no place in this world. I won't let you harm anyone else."
As spiritual energy surged around him, whirlwinds began to form in the surrounding air. Diana watched with interest, her gaze growing even more intense.
In the next second, a massive spiritual wave erupted beneath Jang Hyun's feet. He dropped his sword, grabbed Lily, and bolted for the exit.
Diana, still holding the sword, was left stunned as she watched Jang Hyun's hasty retreat.
Outside the warehouse, Brian's distressed voice rang out. "Master, didn't you say that sword was a priceless treasure passed down by our grandmaster? Didn't you say you'd pass it on to me one day?
And you just left it behind?!"
Jang Hyun hoisted Brian with one hand and kept running. "It's fine, your grandmaster has plenty of swords!"
With that, Jang Hyun, holding a child under each arm, dashed into a car. The engine roared to life, and the sound of the car speeding off echoed through the midnight air.
Diana's delicate face twisted in frustration. Gripping the sword, she crushed it into a twisted scrap of metal.
The back of her clothing tore apart as black, thin wings unfurled, and she took to the skies in pursuit of Jang Hyun.
South Sea City nights were usually very safe, safer than most cities. No petty criminals dared to cause trouble, not even jaywalkers.
But tonight, a black sedan raced down the road, its driver frantically flooring the gas pedal. The blaring horn drew annoyed looks from passersby.
In the shadowed night, invisible to ordinary people, a winged, Western beauty soared through the air like a hawk chasing its prey.
"Master, where are we going?" Brian asked, his face pale, his small hands gripping the car door handle tightly.
Jang Hyun kept glancing at the sky through the windshield. "We're going to find your grandmaster. It's just a short drive away."
Brian exhaled in slight relief, suppressing his carsickness to reassure the trembling Lily beside him. "Don't worry. Grandmaster is incredibly powerful! He'll definitely defeat this monster."
Lily's face remained pale as she hugged her knees tightly.
Brian felt a sinking feeling in his heart. He remembered Lily mentioning she had a strong sixth sense—and it was always accurate.
The car sped through bustling city streets, heading into the old district.
"Handsome, if you'd hidden in the city center, it would've taken me some effort to find you.
But why would you come to a deserted place like this? Are you feeling sorry for me?"
"I enjoy the game of toying with desire," Diana's voice rang out from outside the car window.
That shameless demoness taunted him as she flew alongside the speeding vehicle, just low enough to keep pace.
Jang Hyun cursed under his breath, slamming the gas pedal to the floor as the car sped toward Meng Xing's courtyard.
He abandoned the vehicle at the gate, dragging Brian and Lily along as he banged on the door desperately.
"Master! Master! If you don't come out now, I'm going to get killed!"
Diana descended gracefully from the sky, swaying her curvaceous hips as she sauntered toward Jang Hyun.
"Handsome boy, is your elder here? Is he as dashing as you are?" she teased, her voice dripping with mockery.
But as she approached Meng Xing's courtyard, her expression suddenly shifted to caution. Diana could sense a massive surge of spiritual energy emanating from within the yard.
"Howl!"
At that moment, a series of growls, halfway between a cat's purr and a tiger's roar, echoed from the courtyard walls.
Several large wildcats stood on the wall, their gazes fixed on Diana as they let out low, menacing cries.
Diana frowned slightly. "Demon beasts? No, they're different."
The cats leaped from the wall like hungry predators, pouncing at Diana.
Each cat was distinct in breed—tabby, black, calico, and orange—but their spiritual energy signatures were identical. These cats were on par with C-tier awakeners.
Diana let out a mocking laugh, casually flicking her wrist from a distance.
The wildcats were instantly sent flying mid-air, crashing heavily to the ground. They lay there, weak and coughing blood.
Jang Hyun's expression turned to one of utter shock.
How could the cats, enhanced by his master, be defeated so easily? One move to take down four C-tier awakeners?
Diana crossed her arms, placing a finger playfully on her crimson lips. "Handsome, I wouldn't hurt you. If I really wanted to, you'd already be dead."
"Hmph!"
A cold snort echoed from within the courtyard.
The figure of the old beggar suddenly appeared above the yard.
He bit his finger and flung four drops of blood essence outward.
The wildcats opened their mouths, catching the essence mid-air. Their vitality was restored in an instant, and their bodies grew significantly larger.
With the old beggar's reinforcement, the wildcats were now strong enough to challenge even a B-tier awakener.
This was the handiwork of one of the top assassins from the Moon Worship Sect!
Diana glanced at the old beggar, shaking her head in disappointment. "I thought the handsome boy's master would also be handsome. Turns out, you're just an old geezer. How boring."
She cast a fleeting glance at the approaching wildcats, and they abruptly froze as if enchanted.
To Jang Hyun's shock, the cats crawled toward Diana instead, rolling over to expose their bellies in submission, purring and fawning at her feet.
One of the wildcats even let out an eerie and strange meow.
The old beggar's eyes widened in disbelief.
"It's not even spring yet! Damn it! I should've had you all neutered when I had the chance!"
Diana raised a finger, and a pink spiritual beam shot out toward the old beggar.
He spat out blood and fell straight to the ground.
Jang Hyun panicked, shouting, "Master! Are you alright?!"
Diana licked her lips and chuckled softly. "Handsome boy, you really should've taken the easy way out. But it's fine—forcing my way isn't exactly a dealbreaker."
Brian felt despair wash over him. Even the grandmaster had been defeated?
Lily clung to her head, trembling uncontrollably.
Suddenly, Lily's eyes lit up with surprise. She glanced toward a section of the courtyard wall connecting to the outer perimeter.
Two figures rapidly approached, landing atop the wall.
"This courtyard is not a place for you to cause trouble!"
Two Soul Hunters stood firm, their voices sharp and commanding.
