Godslayer's Legacy: THE PATH TO SUPREMACY

Chapter 26: The Final Days at the Estate (Part 2)

The next morning, the golden light of dawn spilled across the Kirean estate, casting long shadows on the cobblestone paths. Rui stood at the grand gates, his belongings packed neatly beside him. The air was crisp, carrying with it the faint scent of dew-kissed grass and the earthy tones of the surrounding gardens.

Arielle was the first to approach, her steps measured but unhurried. She wore a flowing gown of deep blue, its embroidered silver patterns catching the sunlight. Her expression was calm, but her eyes shimmered with a mixture of pride and sorrow.

She embraced Rui tightly, pulling him close as though trying to imprint the moment in her memory. "You've grown so much," she whispered, her voice barely audible. She stepped back, placing her hands gently on his shoulders. "Remember, Rui, no matter where this path takes you, you are still a Kirean. That means something. Not to the nobles or the Academy, but to us—to your family."

Rui nodded, the weight of her words sinking deep into his chest. "I'll make you proud," he said softly.

"You already have," she replied, a small smile breaking through her somber demeanor.

Soren approached next, his posture as straight as ever, his amber eyes holding the intensity Rui had come to recognize as his father's way of expressing love. He stood before his son, silent for a moment as though searching for the right words.

When he finally spoke, his voice was steady and firm. "The world outside this estate is not kind, Rui. People will judge you before they know you. They'll measure you by your core, by your name, and by what they think you can give them. Do not let them define you. Be more than their expectations."

Rui met his father's gaze, the words settling like an anchor in his mind. "I will."

Soren placed a hand on Rui's shoulder, the weight of it grounding him. "Good. Then you'll do fine."

The quiet moment between father and son was interrupted by the sound of the carriage driver clearing his throat. The man stood beside the finely crafted vehicle, a respectful distance away but clearly signaling it was time to leave.

Rui turned back to his parents, his chest tight. "I'll write," he said, though the words felt inadequate.

Arielle nodded, her smile returning. "We'll be waiting."

As Rui stepped into the carriage, the weight of the moment pressed heavily on him. He glanced back one last time, his parents standing side by side at the gates, their figures framed by the soft glow of the morning light.

The carriage lurched forward, his and his guards horses' hooves clattering against the cobblestones. The estate slowly receded into the distance, its towering walls and sprawling gardens shrinking until they were no more than a memory.

The journey to the capital was long, the countryside unfolding in a tapestry of rolling hills, dense forests, and quaint villages. Rui sat silently, his silver eyes fixed on the changing landscape. His mind, however, was far from the scenery.

He replayed his parents' words, their voices echoing in his thoughts. The world outside the estate was indeed vast and unknown, and the weight of his silver core made the journey feel even more daunting. For years, the estate had been his sanctuary, a place where he could grow and learn at his own pace. But now, he would step into a world where he would be tested not just for his abilities, but for who he was.
