Chapter 66: Chapter 66 Doll

As night descended, the city lights illuminated the streets, casting colorful hues on the bustling crowds.

A black-haired boy about ten years old was walking among the crowd.

He had short black hair and pale skin, which made his pitch-black eyes stand out even more.

Dressed in a blue hoodie, with his hands in its pockets, the boy walked faster than most adults around him.

Amid the adults pacing the street, he was the only child, making him conspicuously out of place.

Beep beep…

The notification sound of an incoming message on the phone suddenly rang out.

The boy took out his right hand from his pocket, holding a small mobile phone.

With a press of the finger, the screen lit up, showing the content of the message.

"This year's commissions are even more than last year's, and they have come in earlier, so it'll be a busy half-month."

After reading the message, the boy remained calm. Sliding the phone back into his pocket, he turned into an alley, leaving behind the bustling main street.

At the hotel.

Martin descended from the top floor alone, signaling the end of the investigation. The three subordinates who had accompanied him remained stationed at strategic points along the main access routes.

With the inspection finally over, the displeasure on Barney's face disappeared.

Within an hour, no less than ten rival leaders had come to greet him.

Each interaction was drenched in hypocrisy, they privately wished for his demise but outwardly maintained polite smiles. The charade left Barney feeling thoroughly drained.

The group took the elevator directly to the top floor, where the room assignments, which is predetermined before their arrival, awaited them.

Barney naturally occupied the most luxurious suite, with Ellie's room next to his.

The other rooms were assigned based on proximity to Barney and Ellie's suites and according to each team member's responsibilities.

The rooms of Kuri, Vogt, the spiky-haired man, and the horse-faced man were located in the middle of the entrance to the top floor and the room where Barney was.

However, Law's room is next to Ellie's, as his assigned task is to protect her.

They will stay in this hotel until the end of the Yorknew Auction.

Unlike when they were on the airship, the entrances to the elevators and stairs were all guarded by Barney's own people. Except for Law, who was assigned a more important task, the other four were in a mediocre position.

Law's mission is already in the inner circle, while the guarding of the key roads is in the outer circle. The positions of Kuri and the other four are between the inner circle and the outer circle, serving as a buffer zone.

The night deepens.

Law checked into the room and felt pretty good.

Located on the top floor of the hotel, the room is luxuriously decorated and magnificent.

Law took a quick look at the room and found that the pattern on one side of the glass screen was a little weird, but everything else was fine.

The glass screen is used to separate the bed and the living room, and there are neatly arranged round glass stickers on the glass screen.

The pattern is a red outer ring with a black circle inside.

When Law saw the pattern on the glass screen, his first thought was that the designer must have been crazy, and he didn't think much about it afterwards.

Not long after entering the room, Law's stomach growled in protest.

Just as he was contemplating how to request food delivery from the hotel, one of Barney's men delivered the food to the room, saving him the trouble.

Although Law was confident that his physique could withstand the poison, he still used God Hand to scan the food before he started eating.

The meal was delicious and generously portioned, and Law finished it in just five minutes.

After eating, he headed to the bathroom for a hot shower, feeling completely relaxed.

A short while later, Law, who had just finished taking a shower, came out of the bathroom wrapped in a bath towel. He picked up a world map from the coffee table as he walked toward the floor-to-ceiling window.

There are usually some reading materials in hotel rooms, typically travel guides, maps of local cities, and introductions to commercial streets, but this one included a world map as well.

Standing by the window, Law gazed down at the dazzling city lights, and his mood became slightly complicated.

This prosperous night scene is quite similar to the one in his memory, but the world around him was fundamentally different.

'I really don't want to go back to Meteor City.'

Law smiled and picked up the world map to study it.

There are six continents on the map, and the continent he is on is called Yorbian, which is the third largest continent among the six continents.

Although this world map is not detailed enough, it does mark the location of Yorknew City. While it is a coastal city, from Law's room, there was no view of the sea.

In addition to the city, the map highlighted other unique locations, with explanatory notes listed on its left side.

Just by looking at the simplified world map, Law felt an overwhelming urge to embark on a journey.

"The tallest tree in the world. I must visit this place someday."

Taking a deep breath, Law folded the map, suppressing the wanderlust bubbling within him.

Knock, knock…

At this time, there was a knock on the door.

Law looked towards the door in surprise, wondering who it could be.

He placed the map on the coffee table, then walked slowly to the door and opened it.

There were two people standing outside the door, one was the bratty child, Ellie, and the other was the butler, Kenda.

Ellie paused momentarily when she saw Law clad only in a bath towel, but her reaction remained relatively calm.

Law glanced at Ellie, then looked at Kenda with a questioning look in his eyes.

Kenda was holding a set of black clothes in his hands. When he noticed Law's gaze, he had a blank expression on his face and did not respond.

Law reluctantly retracted his gaze, then looked at Ellie and asked, "What's the matter?"

Ellie said directly in a commanding tone: "I can't sleep, come to my room and play with me!"

"No." Law refused directly. He would rather face a strong enemy than entertain a bratty child.

Hearing this, Ellie's face immediately morphed into one of disbelief. Then, she quickly glanced at the bath towel wrapped around Law's lower body and gave an exaggerated 'ohhh' as if she suddenly realized something.

Then, she reached into her small bag and pulled out a notepad and pen. She wrote Law's name on one of the 'dreamy' sticky notes, tore it off and stuck it on Law's belly under his deadpan stare.

After sticking it on, Ellie put the notepad and pen back into her small bag, looked at the note paper on Law's belly, and nodded with satisfaction.

At the next second, Law reached out and tore off the note.

"…"

Ellie opened her mouth, an expression of disbelief appeared on her face again, and then tears gradually appeared in her big eyes.

"Law, your task is to protect Young Lady, so your task is to protect is your employer, and obeying the employer's reasonable requests is your obligation." At this time, Kenda interjected calmly.

He did not threaten or use a commanding tone, but simply explained the relationship between employers and employees.

Law cast a glance at Ellie's teary-eyed expression, 'How could I not know that this bratty kid was pretending?'

Ignoring her antics, Law looked back at Kenda and asked, "Does the boss know about this 'request' of hers?"

"If Master didn't know, Young Lady wouldn't be standing here," Kenda replied.

Law rubbed his temples and felt a headache.

After a moment of hesitation, he said helplessly: "Okay, let me get dressed first."

"Yay!" Ellie clapped her hands happily when she heard that.

Seeing this, a few black lines immediately appeared on Law's forehead. He wondered if Kenda and the others saw that his age was about the same as Ellie's, so they arranged for him to protect Ellie, just to have him play with Ellie?

At this time, Kenda handed the black suit he was holding to Law and said, "These are the clothes prepared for you. Everyone else has been provided with theirs as well."

From the moment they boarded the airship, Law and the others were bodyguards to protect Barney and Ellie, so it was naturally impossible for them to continue wearing the clothes they brought from Meteor City.

Without fuss, Law accepted the suit and shut the door.

The black suit looked expensive. After putting it on, Law found that the size was about right and not too big.

After putting on the suit, Law's temperament was completely renewed, revealing a calmness that was not in line with his age.

When Ellie saw Law in the black suit, her eyes lit up. After seeing a parade of burly men in identical suits, Law's youthful demeanor felt like a breath of fresh air.

Kenda was secretly satisfied when he saw Law's calm temperament. Combined with Martin's subsequent detailed evaluation, he felt that Law was the right person to protect Ellie, and Barney also respected Martin's judgment.

Law's room is right next to Ellie's room, just a few steps away.

Following Ellie into her room, Law found the decor was nearly identical to his own room.

Once they entered, Kenda stood directly by the door while Ellie led Law to the living room.

On the coffee table, there is an exquisite doll the size of an infant, as well as an antique chair and dressing table that match the size of the doll, which seem to form a set of their own.

The moment he entered, Law's eyes were immediately attracted by the exquisite doll.

The white smoke text subtly stirred, reminding him that the doll had Nen that could be absorbed.
