Gurren Lagann : Mecha Emperor

Chapter 16: Factory

A week later, Goro stood atop a makeshift platform in the heart of the green area, his voice carrying over the gathered crowd of Team Dai-Gurren members and allies. The air buzzed with anticipation as the group prepared for the upcoming raid on the Beastmen weapons factory, a pivotal mission in their rebellion.

Goro's piercing yellow eyes scanned the faces before him. Warriors, mechanics, and strategists all stood united, their gazes filled with a mix of determination and apprehension. Even the civilians who wouldn't be fighting directly had gathered at the edges of the assembly to hear their leader's words.

Taking a deep breath, Goro began.

"Everyone, listen up! tomorrow, we strike at the heart of the Beastmen's power in this region, a weapons factory. This raid isn't just about crippling their supply lines, it's about sending a message. A message that humanity is no longer running. We're no longer hiding underground like frightened animals."

His words were met with murmurs of agreement and nods from the crowd.

"We've faced hardships," Goro continued, his tone softening momentarily. "Each one of us here has lost something, or someone. But every loss has brought us here, to this moment. Look around you. What do you see?"

He gestured to the city behind them. Children played without fear, laughter echoing through the streets. Gardens bloomed, and homes stood tall under the sun.

"This is what we fight for," Goro said, his voice growing stronger. "This peaceful view. This city. A world where we don't have to fear the Beastmen. A world where our children can grow under the sun."

The crowd stirred, voices rising.

"This mission won't be easy," Goro admitted, pacing across the platform. "The Beastmen won't hand us victory on a silver platter. But we have something they don't. We have Spiral Power. We have each other. And we have a cause worth dying for, but more importantly, worth living for."

He paused, letting his words sink in.

"They see us as insects, as weaklings. But insects working together can topple giants. And together, we will prove that humanity's strength lies not just in our weapons, but in our resolve. We will take that factory. We will cripple their war machine. And we will make them fear the name Team Dai-Gurren!"

The crowd erupted into cheers, fists raised high.

"One more thing," Goro said

"If anyone here is scared or uncertain, if you feel like you can't go through with this, now is your chance to step back."

The statement hung in the air for a moment, the silence heavy with tension. A few people exchanged glances

"Wait, does he think we're cowards?" a voice whispered harshly from the crowd.

"Scared? Us?" another muttered, offended.

The whispers grew louder, rippling through the assembly. Kamina, standing at the edge of the platform, crossed his arms and smirked. "Oh, you've done it now, Goro. You've gone and ticked them off."

But instead of stepping back, the crowd rallied, voices rising in defiance.

"Scared? Who do you think we are?" one voice growled.

"We're not backing down!"

"Don't insult us, leader!" a third barked, the anger in their tone palpable.

Goro, instead of being taken aback, smiled. it was exactly what he wanted to hear.

"Good," Goro said, his voice cutting through the uproar. "If no one's stepping back, let's move forward. Together."

"To victory!" Riggs shouted, raising his weapon into the air, and the others followed suit, their voices echoing through the assembly like a battle cry.

"To victory!"

Goro glanced at Kamina, who was grinning ear to ear.

"See? I told you they had it in them,"

The raid force moved in formation, their silhouettes casting long shadows across the desolate wasteland under the setting sun. At the front, Gurren Lagann strode confidently, its movements a testament to the synergy between Goro and Kamina. Behind it, 16 captured and refurbished Gunmen followed in two tight columns, each pilot prepared to risk everything.

Flanking the Gunmen were five vehicles armed with the lastest spiral-tech weaponry, an innovation born from Goro's relentless ingenuity. These vehicles, dubbed Spiral Cannons, could punch through even the most reinforced Beastman armor with focused spiral-energy blasts.

In total, the force comprised 42 brave souls, each a testament to humanity's resilience and drive. Some were seasoned warriors, veterans of countless skirmishes; others were newer recruits, their determination making up for their lack of experience.

From the cockpit of Lagann, Goro surveyed the force through the holographic display.

As the team regrouped behind cover near the factory's outer perimeter, Goro opened the communication channel. "Mara, go over the enemy intel again. I want everyone sharp before we push further."

Mara's voice came through, calm and precise despite the chaos of battle. "Copy that, leader. Here's the situation:

Enemy Gunmen: There are approximately 25 active units stationed here. Most are standard models powered by solar energy, but intel suggests three are equipped with advanced armor and weaponry. These will be tougher to take down.

Turrets: The factory has automated defensive turrets on all sides. Spiral Cannons have taken out most of the eastern turrets, but the ones on the north and south walls are still operational. They're fast, so don't stay exposed.

Reinforcements: Scans show movement in the underground tunnels leading to the factory. We estimate a second wave of Beastman Gunmen might arrive within the next 20 minutes.

Adiane's Presence: The Elegant is confirmed on-site. Our surveillance suggests her personal Gunman is stationed on the factory's roof. Based on prior reports, it's heavily armed with long-range energy whips and spiral-resistant plating."

Mara paused, then added, "We also have unconfirmed reports of experimental weapons stored inside the factory. If Adiane deploys them, it could change the dynamics of this fight."

Goro nodded, his mind already processing the information and planning the next move. "Good work, Mara. Riggs, prepare your team to intercept those reinforcements when they show up. Kamina, you and I will push through the front line and keep Adiane distracted."

"What about the turrets?" Riggs asked, his voice crackling through the radio.

"Orik's Spiral Cannons can handle them," Goro replied. "Mara, coordinate their fire. Focus on clearing a path for the foot soldiers to breach the factory."

"Understood," Mara responded.

Goro took a deep breath, steadying himself. "This is it, everyone. Stick to the plan, and don't let them break our momentum. Humanity's counting on us."
