Chapter 2: Chapter 2 - Hello New World
While waiting to leave his grandparents' house, Daniel had an idea involving Hinata's sister, so he approached her and said:
"Hey, my dear cute sister, how are you?" Daniel said with a sweet voice while running his hand through the girl's hair.
"I'm good, big bro," the girl said.
"So, I wanted you to do me a favor. I'd like you not to tell mom that my height increased overnight. Just say I grew during this month we were here."
"But I can't lie to mommy," the girl said, pouting.
"Okay, what if I buy you some ice cream from time to time to make you happy," Daniel said confidently.
"REALLY? Then I can do that," Natsu said, her eyes sparkling.
"We have a deal," Daniel said, returning to rest on his bed until he heard a female voice call.
"Shoyo, your mother has arrived. It's time to say goodbye," said the grandmother.
After hearing the call, he went down with his bags and said goodbye to the couple and followed Natsu to Hinata's mother's car. They get in and hear her say:
"How are my loves? Did you have fun at your grandparents' house?" the woman asked, looking at them.
"It was nice spending time with them," Daniel responded.
"It was very fun," said Natsu.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. Now you can rest until we get home."
The sky was darkening when Daniel found himself in a car, in an alternative world, in an anime character's body, realizing he hadn't even had time to think about all this.
"I wonder how my adoptive parents are doing?" Daniel never knew his biological parents, as they both died when he was very young and grew up in an orphanage until he was 8, when he was adopted by a couple Daniel liked very much because they treated him well, but he never felt they were truly his parents.
"And my friends and everyone else? I wonder if they also ended up in an anime world like this or maybe in this same world I'm in now? There are so many questions I don't know if will be answered, but the fact is that I'm here now and I'll do my best to be happy here," Daniel thought.
Arriving at his new house, he took his bags to his room and felt the need to address something with Hinata's mother, who was in the living room watching TV with Natsu.
"Mom, I wanted your help with something... as you can see, during the time I was away, I had a crazy growth spurt, and now my clothes don't fit anymore," Daniel said, a bit hesitant.
"I understand. I noticed you were taller. They say it happens. A friend of mine has a son a little older than you who also had a growth spurt, not as aggressive as yours, but it should be normal... so tomorrow morning, we'll go out to buy some new clothes. Also, remember to order a new school uniform that's about to start," the woman affirmed.
After this conversation, he returned to his room to prepare for sleep when he noticed Hinata's old cell phone vibrating with a message from Izumi Yukitaka:
"How are we supposed to train volleyball when we barely know the sport's rules?" After reading it, he realized the timeline moment he was in was in middle school before Hinata entered high school and played for Karasuno. If the club was created, this was most likely Hinata's last year.
"Leave it all to me," Daniel responded.
"Perfect, I have enough time to improve my skills a bit. Even though I'm taller now, Hinata's skill is quite unrefined," Daniel thought while closing his eyes and forcing himself to sleep.
After a good night's sleep, he gets up, has breakfast, and heads to a Miyagi shopping mall to buy clothes. On the way, he buys an ice cream for little Natsu and then stops at the first sports clothing store.
"How can I help you?" said a brown-haired female attendant wearing what seems to be a characteristic store uniform.
"Well, my son has had a significant height increase recently, and the clothes aren't fitting anymore. We'd like to buy some new clothes," said Hana.
Note: Since Hinata's mother was never named in the anime, I took the liberty of calling her this. I hope you understand.
"Okay, let's start by analyzing your height," the woman said while pointing to the stadiometer at the back of the store.
Daniel goes up to the equipment while the woman begins to adjust it to the top of his head and says:
"It's showing 188cm (6'2"). How tall were you before?" the woman asked.
"If I'm not mistaken, around 160cm (5'3")," the boy responded.
"Wow, you really grew a lot... now get on this scale," the woman requested.
"69 kg (152 lbs)," the employee analyzed.
"Now with this information, I'll get some new clothes for you. Wait a few minutes."
"Okay," Daniel said.
Over time, Daniel tried on various clothes and had to buy a considerable amount to replace Hinata's old clothes.
"Mom, before we go home, I'd like to cut my hair," Daniel said.
"Out of nowhere?" Hana inquired.
"I'm thinking of changing my style a bit," Daniel said, who didn't like Hinata's haircut much, thinking it was too big and voluminous. "Okay, we'll stop by the hairdresser. You never use that cut bonus without a set date on the Premium plan," Hana said.
He goes to the hairdresser and asks to keep the cut but make it smaller and less voluminous, with the bangs falling a bit more on his forehead. After a few minutes, the cut was ready, and he returned to his mother's car.
"Now you just need to call the school and order a new uniform for your new measurements. Don't forget," Hana warned.
"I'll take care of it," Daniel affirmed, smiling.
After arriving home, he delivered the ice cream he had bought for Natsu before it completely melted and took out his cell phone to send a message to Yukitaka Izumi.
"Dude, I need you to convince Sekimukai to train tomorrow morning. I'll teach you guys the volleyball rules and we'll do some exercises."
"I'll try. I'll let you know if I can," the boy said.
After trying to gather Hinata's friends for training, Daniel grabs an apple in the kitchen and starts to think.
"If I remember correctly, in Hinata's last year of junior high school, he could barely gather the team for the Junior High Athletics Meet and was eliminated in the first match against Kitagawa Daiichi... even if I make those guys train for all this time, I don't think we can beat that team. They were favorites for nationals," Daniel pondered.
"But if my guess is right, there must be a way to improve Yukigaoka's seed and try to go further in the championship by falling with a weaker team at the beginning. However, even for this, I'll have a lot of work trying to evolve my teammates who are complete amateurs while trying to evolve my own skills that are far from the level of Kitagawa Daiichi players... but it's something necessary so I can make a name for Hinata before high school," Daniel thought as he felt a vibration from his cell phone in his shorts pocket.
"I convinced him... we're free tomorrow morning," Izumi said. "Okay, where do we normally practice?" Daniel asked, trying not to sound suspicious.
"What a weird question. The few times we practiced was on that basketball court near my house," the boy responded.
"Got it, meet me there," Daniel said.
