Chapter 56: Chapter 3: A Gamebreaking Theresa
"First things first—I should try out my new powers as Luna Kindred!"
No longer was she merely Gyakushinn Miko; now she embodied Luna Kindred—a completely different force from Yae Sakura. This was an entirely fresh set of abilities.
It comes from integrating the genes of Emperor Rank [Vishnu] into the Corruption Key's power.
She could distinctly feel the immense power concealed within this smaller body.
Surveying her surroundings, she spotted a colossal tree with a diameter nearly one meter wide. Princess Theresa approached it, placing both hands on its trunk.
"Fall before me!"
With a mighty shove, the giant tree toppled over instantly.
The deafening crash echoed as the massive tree hit the ground, causing the earth to tremble for several long moments.
"What tremendous strength..." Theresa marveled, gazing at her now diminutive hands. It was hard to fathom such incredible power residing within them.
But that was just the beginning...
"Tainted Blades!" The adorable Theresa spread her arms wide, summoning two crimson short swords from behind her Blood Embrace.
Holding these dual blades, she unleashed four rapid strikes in succession.
Each attack seemed imbued with a cascade of negative effects: blood drain, curses, bleeding wounds, weakening spells... and more—all striking simultaneously.
However, the limitation was equally apparent—the range of her attacks was severely limited.
This will be troublesome!
Time to try something else!
The twin swords vanished from her grasp, transforming back into her Blood Embrace.
"Axe of the Fallen!"
A colossal double-edged axe appeared, towering three times higher than Theresa herself.
"Ah!"
Gripping the enormous weapon with both hands, she swung it forward with all her might.
The earth shook violently as a massive pit over ten meters wide suddenly appeared.
"Such brute force..." one might marvel.
There was little need for further comment; its power at close range was unmistakable. Though not swift in movement, it mattered little... because Luna Kindred's life-saving skill had unexpectedly become far more potent.
Firstly, after executing her Extreme Evasion maneuver, Luna Kindred could induce several seconds of temporal fracture—a brief period where time itself seemed to halt, allowing only her to move freely while everything else stood still.
This ability alone was arguably the most game-breaking among all Honkai Valkyries. It effectively granted her temporary invincibility, akin to freezing time entirely except for herself.
Pretty game-breaking, right?
And now, Luna Kindred's capabilities were even more extraordinary. Her passive skill, Night of Fright, had transformed into an active ability.
In the original game, Night of Fright merely extended the duration of temporal fractures triggered by Extreme Evasion.
But now, Luna Kindred could directly invoke temporal fractures using Night of Fright without needing to perform an Extreme Evasion first. This meant she essentially controlled the very fabric of space-time itself.
Moreover, during these moments of temporal fracture induced by Night of Fright, Luna Kindred's healing capacity doubled, making her even more resilient against damage.
This was just the first bug's ability. The second one, also a game skill called Mist Form, worked completely differently from how it did in the game.
Mist Form transformed the user into mist, as its name suggested...
While in mist form, the user became 100% immune to physical attacks and took 30% less damage from elemental attacks.
If these abilities weren't enough to be considered bugs, then the third ability of Luna Kindred, the bloodline of vampire princesses, truly made them overpowered.
Anyone bitten by a Luna Kindred would turn into a vampire minion.
These vampires didn't fear sunlight or holy light like traditional ones. They had no weaknesses because their power came from the Herrscher Core's Godly Key. It was the strength of Honkai Incarnate itself.
They were nothing like biblical or rabies-virus inspired vampires.
Those who had been bitten by Luna Kindred and turned into vampires enjoyed eternal life so long as she remained alive.
Moreover, each time these minions consumed fresh blood, their master's strength increased without bound. This enhancement continued unabated until they surpassed even Judgment Rank Honkai Beasts, potentially reaching a power level rivaling—even exceeding—that of a Herrscher...
If Luna Kindred were to die unexpectedly, provided at least one infected individual remained alive, she would be reborn from their blood.
These abilities represented merely a fraction of Luna Kindred's power...
Save for lacking long-range offensive capabilities, Valkyrie Theresa possessed strength that was truly terrifying—a force on par with an SS-rank being.
As Theresa catalogued Luna Kindred's powers, the vampire princess found herself utterly astounded by this newfound might.
Such immense power... It's awe-inspiring! She suddenly felt no longer intimidated by anything in this world.
However, quickly regaining her composure, Theresa posed another question calmly:
"System, I want to know if Rimuru can replicate my abilities?"
No, neither the Great Sage nor Predator has any effect on you as the host.
"I see! That puts my mind at ease then."
Then, the adorable Theresa recalled the three individuals she had bitten earlier. Had they all been revived? Would there be any unforeseen consequences?
Nothing bad could have happened, right?
Forget it!
I won't worry about them. Even though they've turned into half-human, half-Honkai beasts, as long as they avoid crowded places when hungry, they shouldn't go berserk.
Luna Kindred vampires had only one side effect:
They might lose control and start sucking blood if they're starving in a crowd.
As a Valkyrie\, Theresa had already avoided this particular side effect.
However, during her time as a Luna Kindred, while she could still consume other foods for taste, they failed to satisfy hunger—only blood would suffice.
Yet turning those from whom she drank into vampires presented its own set of complications.
Tip: As Valkyrie Luna Kindred, when feeding, you can choose whether to infect or not infect the person.
It seemed even the System couldn't bear it any longer, prompting Theresa with this reminder.
"Is that so? That's fantastic!"
With this knowledge, her sole concern evaporated entirely.
With so many demonic beasts in this world, I could even choose which ones to infect.
Infect enough creatures, and I'd easily become known as the "Demon Lord" of this realm.
By spreading infection across various regions, I wouldn't have to fear death; I could roam freely without worry.
As long as there are infected beings around, I can be reborn...
Tip: Rebirth requires consuming large amounts of Blood Seal energy, which is essential for Luna Kindred to grow stronger.
"Ugh... Can't I just daydream for a moment?"
A resurrection ability as game-changing as this must have its conditions, right? Otherwise, the crystal would just be a useless ornament.
While infected beings drink blood, I can absorb a certain amount of blood seal energy from them.
The more blood seal energy it has, the stronger Luna Kindred becomes.
"I now have the genes of an imperial-class Honkai Impact monster," Theresa mused. "I wonder if I can create such a monster and then control it?" She glanced at the Honkai fragments in her inventory. Considering how powerful this world is, even creating a Honkai monster probably wouldn't cause too much trouble.
Let's give making a Honkai monster a try!
After all, infected humans are essentially Honkai monsters themselves. If they're not too strong, she could potentially create an entire army of them.
Theresa took out a Honkai fragment and released the Honkai energy within it.
