Chapter 6: Chapter 5 - Confrontation
Abandoned Church, Kuoh town –
POV: Dohnaseek –
Mittelt never returned last night, as much as I am wholly unconcerned with her life it could be an indication that she was found by the devils. Mittelt hated doing what she was told, at least when Raynare was involved. So, she would never do more than the bare minimum of what she was told. That's why her not returning last night concerned us, so Raynare sent me out to find her.
Traveling to the Hyoudou household I found clear signs of a fight, including broken pieces of the road and sidewalk from a light spear due to the burnt nature. She very clearly went into a fight, but the trail was weak.
Looking at the bloody footprints that remained, whoever it was their feet were too big to be Mittelt's, but they are clearly amateurs for not cleaning up. Luckily, I got here before people began to go about their business. Cleaning up the signs of the fight I began to travel in the general direction of the footprints before the person took off their boots.
Giving a call to Raynare, I informed her of what I have found and my need for backup. After receiving confirmation that I would get that backup I began to use magic to check every household undetected. If anything caught my attention, I would pretend to be a detective to get inside the house before using mind magic to deal with the inhabitants. It will take time as Kuoh is not a small town. I have hundreds of houses to inspect for any clues at all…

Hiyama's house, Kuoh town –
POV: Hiyama Oreki –
Waking up reinvigorated after accelerating the growth of my body, I get prepared for the day. I have four days until the school year starts, by which time I will have no choice but to enter the supernatural world. I am not so naïve as to believe Rias or Sona won't spot me from a mile away. If Rias could sense power in Issei, then at the very least the same applies to me if not more so.
Today I must test out my new physical capabilities as well as figure out how to deal with the fallen before they find me. I can't leave the house because the fallen could appear at any time and if Shiori is here alone then that would be bad. Hopefully, my newfound strength will make things a whole lot easier.
Standing in the backyard I start with the basics, jumping, running, and doing various basic exercises. I found pretty quickly that I am essentially superhuman in every way. Pushups were so easy I had to do handstand pushups, and it was still relatively easy. Not to mention I could jump higher and run faster than any normal human should. Feeling confident in having superhuman strength I decided to punch the ground as hard as I could.
When my fist connected to the ground there was an audible bang as the ground exploded in my face as my fist went a good foot into the ground. It still wasn't overly impressive considering after a few boosts Issei destroyed a mountain. However, it should be enough to match the fallen in physical combat long enough to use the Voice.
In general, I had nothing I really could do all day, so all I did was train while planning out how to defeat the fallen.

POV: Shiori Oreki –
Sitting in the living room on the main floor, I sat texting my friends in the Kendo club about how we were going to get more members once the year started when I heard the doorbell ring. It was late in the afternoon so having solicitors at this time wasn't unexpected. Quickly shouting for my brother to let him know we have a visitor I opened the door to see who it is.
Standing before me is an older man in a trench coat and fedora, clearly not Japanese I ask, "How may I help you?"
Giving a grim smile he says, "Hello ma'am, I am David Rutheford. I work for the government as an investigator to investigate environmental concerns." He flashes an official looking badge. "We have concerns about a potential gas leak originating from a pipe below your neighborhood. We have been going from house to house to ask questions and potentially find where it is located. May I come in to discuss further?"
Seeing that the badge looked official I decided to let him in with a nod. Taking the conversation to the living room, I gesture towards the couch, "please sit, shall I make you some tea?"
"I'm fine. Hopefully this won't take long." He responded with a smile. At that moment, Hiyama gets back in the house and walks in the living room with a look of surprise on his face.
The investigator moves to speak up at his arrival, but before a word leaves his mouth my brother speaks in a terrifying raspy whisper, "Don't move!" Before I can react, Hiyama has grabbed me by the collar and yanked me away from the man yelling "Get upstairs now!" in the exact same tone. Feeling my legs moving on their own I immediately ran upstairs towards my room closing the door behind me as I hear sounds of a violent commotion downstairs.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
POV: Dohnaseek –
It had been over 24 hours since Mittelt had disappeared. It was a long search to find anything of interest in finding Mittelt until I came across a seemingly ordinary home with two young inhabitants. What caught my eye was that I could sense faint traces of the holy element enveloping the house. Getting inside was easy, the female human didn't present much resistance to me entering with my cover story.
However, the moment that boy entered the room I felt the tone shift. Seeking to maintain my cover I immediately began to greet him but before I could I felt my body forcibly held in place. The boy had used some type of ability on me after he shouted. It wasn't long until I felt I could move again and the moment I did I summoned a light spear to impale the boy.
Much to my surprise, the shouted in that strange sound "Disperse!" which caused my light spear to disappear.
Seeing no other option, I moved to engage in hand-to-hand combat while pulsing my Light energy to signal Raynare and Kalawarner.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
POV: Hiyama –
Shit! I didn't expect them to find me this quickly! They were supposed to be nobody in canon, I figured they wouldn't find me that quickly. Besides, there are thousands of homes in Kuoh that I could have been in, yet they find me this quickly.
At least I got Shiori upstairs quickly, but now I am engaged in combat with Dohnaseek.
After dispelling his light spear, instead of trying to make another one he charges at me with his fists. Throwing a right hook at him, he easily dodged and brought his fist to my stomach. The blow was wrenching, but I recovered quickly enough. Punching him across the face and then giving him a kick that I leveraged to jump back. I shouted, "Don't move!"
Jumping back to the other side of the room I began my attack "A torrent of swords shall pierce my opponent!" Immediately following it up with, "A spear of darkness shall run through my enemy!"
I quick succession a cloud forms around Dohnaseek's head and blades appear out of it raining down on him. He had managed to form a shield of light over his head to block the swords. Then a spear made of a smokey darkness appears over my shoulder and launches itself at Dohnaseek. Before he could block the spear pierced his chest.
Receiving the mortal wound he gave out one last attack by summoning four daggers of light throwing them at the walls around me, before keeling over dead. Seeing no danger I didn't bother to disperse them, but to my surprise the daggers, instead of hitting the walls, changed direction and hurtled towards me.
Being caught off guard, one of the daggers hit me on the shoulder and another in the leg, while the others hit me in the chest. Injured but victorious I immediately moved to check out the front door.
The fight only lasted 30 seconds, but I wouldn't have put it past him to have signaled the remaining fallen. Commanding my body to heal I began to wait for the inevitable arrival of Raynare and Kalawarner. Dohnaseek was easier than Mittelt had been, but I was way more drained when I fought Mittelt from healing the massive hole in my body.
It wasn't long till something happened as I saw the sky turn to a familiar purple. Wanting to take the fight outside of the house and away from Shiori, I stepped out into the front yard as Raynare and Kalawarner landed in front of me with their wings unfurled.
Unlike Mittelt, their inhuman forms seemed much more human. Both had an extra pair of eyes underneath their usual ones. They weren't large eyes but rather small, it reminded me of Sukuna from JJk. They spread their wings out as if ready to take flight at any moment.
I keep calm as though I fear absolutely nothing from them. They both form spears of light in their hands clearly expecting to fight.
Seeking to avoid a prolonged fight against multiple opponents I speak up, "Dohnaseek is dead."
"Mittelt won't help any time soon either. You are defeated fallen, give up!" I considered using the Voice but haven't yet. I was beginning to understand that my Voice was more powerful than I initially thought, but I waited to use it.
Thankfully, Raynare instead of attacking instantly decided to question me, "Who are you human?" She very clearly didn't care about the fate of the other two fallen.
"I am Hiyama, I was so rudely attacked by your underling Mittelt the night before last. Upon defeating her I captured her. As for Dohnaseek, it appears he thought too highly of himself." I responded with as much carefree attitude as I could muster. Trying to play up the young master vibes from webnovels I read in the past, I hoped to talk them down enough to the point where I could compel them to do what I wanted.
Raynare didn't look surprised, while Kalawarner tensed up a bit. "We are going to kill you human." Raynare said arrogantly.
I responded arrogantly, "By the fact that you haven't attacked me I can tell you two aren't sure of your victory. After all, I don't have a scratch on me from fighting Dohnaseek." Which was true, though they didn't need to know I could heal myself easily. I continue, "Your master Azazel really does have an interesting way of conducting business. Clearly, he doesn't care enough about the lot of you to tell you the danger you are in, so let me enlighten you…"
I gather the Voice and begin to speak with authority, "I am the one who will become your end should you continue to advance. You are nothing to me, even if I used the weakest of my powers, it would be a waste of magical power. You low class mongrels for angels couldn't even beat a flea much less me."
Kalawarner showed immediate signs of fear, but Raynare in her expected arrogance moves to attack me after being insulted in such a way. Before she could attack me, I put more magical power into my Voice. "Kneel!" In an instant both Raynare and Kalawarner were on their knees. "Do not resist!" Any resistance against the force that compelled them ceased.
Feeling confident that my power would work I said, "You will go report to your master Azazel, tell him that I want to meet with him. You will also come clean to him about Kokabiel's involvement in all this nonsense."
Finishing my order, I felt my energy drain to dangerous levels. Compulsion is clearly one of the more difficult things, especially when the order is against the person's nature.
Despite giving the order Raynare doesn't leave immediately. Instead, she asks me, "How did you speak in God's voice?" The moment she asked me that question I started to understand what Logos Reverie was.
It was literally God's voice that I was using. I had assumed there was a connection between me and the God of the Bible, but this confirmed in my opinion that it was like the True Longinus. It carried God's voice in the same way True Longinus carried God's will.
That sound of multiple raspy whispers that signified the use of Logos Reverie must be how God sounded, or maybe others hear it differently from me. I had no doubt Raynare knew what God sounded like, she was an angel after all.
Storing away the information for later I say, "Do what you're told." Then walk back into the house as the fallen barrier fades and Raynare leaves to go after Kalawarner.

A/N: So what do you guys think? Any constructive criticism is welcome. Also, be sure to leave a review and power stones as that is my motivation. Now that I've gotten to five chapters I am going to start getting ahead on my writing so I have more room to change things. It might be a few days longer until my next update because of that, I've already gotten a few chapters ahead.
I'm trying to establish that Hiyama is more powerful than he thinks he is, but I am not sure if I'm doing it well. I feel like it might seem more like plot armor than him being unknowingly actually pretty strong. It won't last long as I intend to get past the initial stages of Hiyama learning the basics of his power so we can get into the main story.
Another thing, I would like for you guys to give me ideas about how I could develop Raynare, Kalawarner, and Mittelt in terms of powers they could have. A signature power that they would have, like Akeno's lightning. In canon, Raynare was the most powerful in terms of using Light so I plan on moving towards magic with her, but any suggestions would be nice.
