His Darling Rebel With a System

Chapter 11: ARE YOU NOT HAPPY?

"What? Why are you looking at me like this?" Zeva asked with a puzzled expression.

Lia sighed in distress and shook her head. With a sad expression on her face, she said, "Now I have already started to pity myself. How am I going to live here. Nevermind.

So what happens is that, every system assigns the holder a hundred tasks. And even we system beings, don't know what is going to be the next. My job is to take responsibility for it, and make you understand it, and help you accomplish it. Also, you have to take care of the baby me, while you complete the tasks."

When Lia was done explaining, she looked at Zeva who looked pale. "What? What's wrong?"

"A Hundred? One hundred?! " Zeva asked baffled.

"That's right! Didn't I tell you earlier that just to unlock my age, you have to complete 20 tasks, that is 1/5th. That means total you will get 100 tasks. We must atleast get a chance to live for hundred years, right?" Lia nodded her head.

"Come on, that would take years! What would you do living for so long?!" Zeva said.

Hearing her scream in shock, Lia chuckled sarcastically, and said, "So what? Not all people complete all hundred. And did you think you would be rich and successful in a day or two?" Lia looked at her face, and laughed again, "Silly humans! It is never that easy for anybody, alright. It will take a lot of time of course. You silly human, you don't even know how dangerous your own world is. And how many mysteries, it is filled with."

Zeva nodded with a pout dejectedly. Then looking back at Lia she asked, "But wont it take a long time for you too, to go back to your planet?"

Lia waved her hand at her with sass and said, "That you don't need to worry about."

"Why?"

"Because the time balance between the two planets are different. Ten years on Earth equals to one year on Solara." Lia replied.

On hearing that, Zeva's mouth parted. "So cool!" Even the life of a three years old kid in that planet was more adventurous and happening than hers. Zeva thought in her mind.

Zeva then pouted her lips, looking at the baby and said, "You said you will help me complete the tasks, but you are a toddler yourself. What can you do? Instead, i will have to baby sit you."

"Ofcourse!" Lia replied with a shrug. "Did you think it was so easy, that you will get a system programs like computers installed in your brains like those in the movies and cartoons? Sorry, but that happens in other dimension. And you haven't received that.

Your job is to babysit me and keep me around, while completing your tasks. And if something happens to me, your system is over. As basically, your system is me. Also, only I can operate the program. So yes, I am useful." Lia put forth her usefulness.

Throwing herself back in the bed, Zeva sighed and said, "Huh… Just an hour and my life has changed upside down."

Lia stared at Zeva for a while before she blinked and asked, "Why do you not look so happy? According to common sense, you must now be jumping and giggling with happiness."

Zeva looked back at Lia and blinked then asked, "Hm? And what is there to be happy about?"

Lia's face turned funny and she said, "Miss Depressed soul? What is wrong with you? What is there to be happy about? ME!

I saved you from dying. You literally got a second chance at life. And not only a second chance but also a golden opportunity disgused as me, to be a well known successful person in life. You should be dancing with joy right now. Instead, you are laying like a dead body, as like it doesn't matter much to you.." Lia said with a pouted lips. She wasn't liking the lack of enthusiasm the young woman was showing at all. But then she remembered something and as with a big frown.

"Oh, wait! Before you went unconscious , as you were falling off the cliff, instead of screaming and being scared shitless, you were having a peaceful expression on your face, that too with a smile! Tell me, Zeva? Are you secretly mentally challenged? Something my system failed to show me?"

On hearing the little but not so little kid's over thinking thoughts, Zeva sat upright laughing. She pinched Lia's fluffy cheeks and said, "Haha… you have such an over thinking mind, little fellow. And thank you so much for saving my life and coming into my life with the golden opportunity. Though you are doing it all for your sole benefit, yet if you can help me, I will forever be grateful. But…" Zeva said.

Meanwhile, Lia's cheeks turned red, not because Zeva pinched it too hard. But because Lia did not expect Zeva to all of a sudden pinch her cheeks and show her a sudden affection. She just had a sudden rush for shyness.

Lia would have protested on it, for making her cheeks turn pink and would have thrown a tantrum. But he saw that Zeva was saying something seriously, so she said nothing.

"But… you celebrate your joy, when you have someone to share you joy with, isn't it? I don't have my parents or my grandma with me. My other extended relatives who are alive are really not worth sharing these joys with.

And because, I had always been busy earning my living, and completing my studies, that I did not have time to invest in making friends. So, I have none. Now tell me, what do I do? I am happy. But I am alone too."

After Zeva finished speaking, there was silence for a little while, before a baby voice broke out, "You can celebrate it with me."
