His Uncanny Encounter: Arkon's Journey

Chapter 2: TWO | THE UNEXPECTED BEGINNING

CHAPTER TWO | THE UNEXPECTED BEGINNING

ARKON

"shhhhh," Petals shush's me when she finally takes the cloth off my face.

"What the hell is your fucking problem, you scared me to death."

"Please, be quiet." She pleads, dragging me further into the back of the couch.

I would have forcefully gotten out of her grasps if not for the terrified look on her face.

I become alert when I notice the dried tears in her eyes and how violently her hands are shaking. "What is going on, Petals? Why are we hiding? What's wrong?" I ask as I gently hold her shoulders to stop them from shivering.

"They found us." She whispers with eyes wide like saucers. "They'll kill him." She says as silent tears rolls down her eyes.

I frown in confusion before squinting my eyes in suspicion. "Who?"

Just then, I hear a loud shriek. A shriek all too familiar to be ignored…the sound of the abominable animal I saw earlier.

I quickly hide myself even more, drawing Petals closer just in case the need to protect her arises.

She whimpers and I quickly cover her mouth with my mouth.

From the position I am in, I could see a glimpse of what was happening and I watch the same men from earlier bring the same animal closer to Kain's face. That is all I need to look away from them.

I wasn't going to let history repeat itself.

"We can't kill him. The boss needs him." One of the men says.

I don't see what's happening but I hold Petals close until I hear their voices no more and I'm sure the coast is clear.

Petals bursts into tears immediately I let go of her mouth while I run to the window to see if I can sight the men but I'm greeted with nothing. "Fuck! Shit! I can't believe they followed me here. All this wouldn't be happening if I minded my fucking business."

"We have to save him. He isn't dead yet. We have to go save him before he's killed." Petals manages to say in between tears.

I stare at her like she has run mad, wondering if she realizes the intensity of what we are dealing with. "I will go get my phone. We need to inform the police about his kidnap."

Petals teary eyes suddenly widens. "No, you can't involve the police in this." She shouts when I pick up the phone on the table which just happens to be Kain's phone.

"Why can't I? My friend," I point at my chest "and your boyfriend" I point to Petals still crying form "just got kidnapped and you don't want me to inform the police about it? That's fucking stupid." I conclude as I dial the number.

Petals forcefully highjacks the phone from my hand and smashes it on the wall the moment I placed it on my ear.

"What was that for? We need to inform the cops about it. The sooner we inform them, the faster Kain is saved. We might be powerless when but I'm sure they can find something to do about it." I scowl, searching for my own phone to make the call.

"So what will you tell them, then? That some demonic men and an alien kidnapped your best friend and vanished into thin air? Does that sound realistic to you? You'll either be locked up and accused of being the kidnapper or locked up in an asylum. No one would believe anything you say." She explains while sniffing.

The sentence that caught my attention the most is the part she said they vanished into thin air so I address that first. "They never vanished. They walked out of the house." I correct her.

She gives me the look a dumb person is given after saying something that portrays his extreme stupidity. "We could see the door from the place we were. If they walked out this door, we would have seen them go and hard the sound of the door closing shut. Hell, they would have found us behind that couch if they went out that door." She points to the couch then to the door while I trace her hands with my eyes.

"We don't have a back door." I mumble as the realization that something didn't make sense.

"You don't. They ain't humans, Ark. They are demons and that animal is a Kyrexi…it's a face reaper, it drains all your blood from your mouth."

I search for my phone faster, coming to the conclusion that Petals has lost her fucking mind. "The more reason we need to inform the government faster. If what you're saying is in anyway true, then the whole human population is in danger. The faster we tell them, the sooner everyone is safe."

"They ain't after the human population, Ark. They're after humans with special abilities. They are after our kind." She says softly.

"I am pretty sure you need to be locked up in an asylum more than I do." I say under my breath as the call is picked up.

"911, what's your emergency." Comes from the other side of the phone.

"My friend just got kidnapped…"

I tongue becomes stiff, stopping me from speaking further.

Just like the last time, pain spreads throughout my body and I begin to have a mini seizure. My eyes glaze over and my spirit leaves my body for the second time today.

This time, I'm not as freaked out as I was the fire time it happened. I just silently watch everything.

The moment I finish telling 911 about my emergency, the cops arrives, surrounds our house, making sure we have no way to escape. Petals stumps on the ground thrice then hits the ground with her fist while I just watch her in confusion.

As her fists strikes the earth, the air around us seems to shudder and split, the ground trembling and a burts of energy erupts, releasing a whirlwind of petals-like, crystal pieces that forms into a glittering portal.

I watch myself jerk backwards, trying to get away from the portal that seems to be spreading. "What the hell is that?" My real self yells, staring at her with wide eyes.

The cops were saying things, asking us to pause our movements. Pointing guns at us.

Petals takes my left hand, her eyes blazing with desperation. With a swift motion, she pulls me towards the portal but I resist, my eyes wide with shock and fear. "What is happening?" I shouted above the din of the sirens.

Petals doesn't reply. With a fierce cry, she leaps into the portal, trying to drag me with her but I stumble, my feet rooted to the ground until she's torn from my grasp. She vanishes into the portal, leaving me shocked and terrified.

"He is one of them freaks. The Mayor wants him, dead or alive. If he does anything, shot him." An officer orders the rest as I'm tackled to the ground.

Everything reverses and I find myself in the same position I was in before going into a trance.

"Hello! Hello! I need your location to call for help." The woman on the other line says, fully snapping me out of the trance.

I hang up, still confused.

"Your powers…they've been activated. You can see the future." Petals states with a small smile on her lips.

"I…I…don't understand what's going on." I stagger back, suddenly becoming dizzy.

Just then, the door of the apartment bursts open and officers run in.

"Shit, we have to go." Petals says and those the exact things I say her do in my trance.

Unlike my trance, when she takes my hands, I don't resist. I let her pull me into the portal.

I am expecting the journey to wherever the hell the portal is leading us to be peaceful since the opening looked so beautiful and inviting, what I wasn't expecting was to be thrust into a narrow passage filled with multiple crystals that knocked me around and almost split my head in two. As if it isn't back enough, there is also water in the passage. It felt like I am riding a slide filled with sharp crystals in a water pack.

After what seems like eternity, we come to a stop and I find myself being vomited by the sky, straight to a harsh rocky ground.

The cold bad boy facade I always try to keep around Petals is long forgotten when I realize that my head would actually be split open if I should fall on the rocky surface.

I close my eyes, tightly, silently accepting fate and waiting for the pain that would come from coming in contact with the ground but it never comes. It also seemed that gravity took a break from the world because I couldn't feel its weight pulling me down.

With one eye, I take a peek at my surroundings and to my shock, I find myself floating in air, the ground a few miles away from me. To top it all, I am also upside down which means that if whatever force is holding me up fails, I would be as damaged as coconut thrown to the wall.

Another scream breaks out of my mouth and I close my eyes even harder.

"Shut the fuck up, Ark." Petals voice comes from the bottom. "You are making me lose concentration."

My head snaps to the direction her voice is emanating.

Petals hazel eyes are now a shiny blue colour and her hands are moving in a circular motion. I realize she's the one holding me up and from the movement of her hands and the wind blowing around us, she is controlling the wind to make sure I don't fall.

Not sure if I should be terrified or grateful, I simply look up, waiting for this to be over. She carefully drops me and I lay on the rocky floor, refusing to close my eyes.

Petals kicks me in the leg, making my eyes snap open before stretching her hands to help me up. "You know, for a guy, you get scared easily and you scream louder than a lady in labour. I thought guys are supposed to be brave and…masculine?" She grunts as she tries to help me up.

"Well excuse me for being terrified of black magic. For all I know, you brought me to eat me or sacrifice me to witches coven." I say, making sure I make lifting me up harder than it should be. I needed to show her who the man is.

"You are one of us now, Ark. Besides, we are agents of light, not darkness."

Looking around, I notice we are surrounded by water…water as black as coal. "Where the hell are we?"
