Chapter 4: Chapter 4 - Hogwarts Express
Before Felix knew it, the time for him to board the Hogwarts Express had arrived. It had been about a month or so since he went shopping with Dumbledore at Diagon Alley. He could still recall Mr. Ollivander faced upon hearing his name and sighed.
While Mr. Ollivander soon snapped back to normal, he kept sending glances at Dumbledore and moved with stiffness. Even after decades and with a new Dark Lord running around, the name Grindelwald hit's the older folks a bit differently. Unlike Voldemort who just wanted to spread his hatred and slaughter others, Grindelwald had a goal. The goal to rule over non-magicals.
For Felix himself, he didn't have much thoughts about that nor real interest in ruling over others. Unlike many fanfictions, he didn't plan to "save" the magical world and remove the Statute of Secrecy or become some Dark Lord who thinks themselves as a hero. In which he only had one word for such activities, and that one word would be 'tiring'.
The reason for the Statute of Secrecy was put in place was to protect young witches and wizards from greedy non-magicals and being enslaved to them. For while adult witches and wizards could protect themselves, the children could not. Hence, the non-magicals tended to hunt down the children with magical talents.
Which is the real reason the Statute of Secrecy came into effect, but over the last few centuries. Many have attempted to remove it and wanted to rule over the non-magicals. Just how could one hope to rule over them when they couldn't centuries ago and even now when non-magicals are more powerful with their technology.
Even trying to achieve equality shouldn't be possible, since radicals on both sides will try their best to eliminate the other side. Not to mention it would work for a little while, but when one side begins to target children. Well, a full out war that will far overshadow the Witch Hunts that led to the creation of the Statute of Secrecy in the first place will take place. No one will tolerate targeting children after all.
Granted it might just be a bit more of an extreme theory, but Felix's instincts told him it has such a high chance of happening. Even in his last life when he didn't have magic, his instincts were almost supernatural since what he felt came true ninety percent of the time. The other nine was due to a time difference in occurrence with that one percent being wrong.
Now after passing through the column in the King Cross Station, Felix found himself staring at the red Hogwarts Express. He could see countless parents and children on the platform, some more sad than others at having to separate from each other. On the other hand he had already said goodbye to Willam beforehand since he was here by himself. Since William had to go to work early due to a sudden influx of patients.
Navigating the crowd, Felix soon boarded the train and found a seat for himself. Where his attention soon drifted to the window watching the various families come and went from the platform. Then he spotted a pair of boys with a more elderly couple compared to most of the other parents.
'I guess that will be the Potter Family and Sirius Black.' Felix thought.
The reason he thought as much was how much who he assumed James is, looks very similar to Harry. Well, the movie version of Harry, since besides a slight difference, they could almost be said to be carbon copies of each other. Not to mention both of the boys seemed to stroll with confidence and brightness as they smiled and waved at others.
'No wonder an introverted Snape hated James. Even if they didn't torment each other due to their crush on Lily Evans. They probably would still bully each other due to their polar opposite personality.' Felix thought before moving on.
He didn't care about the love hate relationship of them all and truthfully neither side was innocent. James bullied Snape, while Snape bullied James back. Then one can argue that Snape had a tough childhood, but don't forget one of the rules. You treat others how you want to be treated. So Snape can blame a large portion of his issues on himself since he tends to treat others poorly.
Not long later, Felix found an older red-haired girl in the seat across from him. She had fiery red hair, striking emerald green eyes and soft features. Felix found her to be quite cute, which was about it as he looked at the book in her hand.
"Are you studying to become an Animagus?" Felix asked.
"I'm learning more about the subject." She replied. "I'm Lily Evans."
"Felix Grindelwald."
He watched as Lily paused as she began to look him over before giving him a polite smile. Then return to reading the book, while sending him glances from time to time. Felix didn't care too much as he just focused on the window.
Soon, Felix found a boy with a grumpy expression, a large hook nose and long oily hair that jumped about his face. Dressed in black, he looked at everything with disdain except Lily. However, Felix noticed that there was a gap between them despite them talking softly like old friends.
'Well, I guess it's safe to assume this is Severus Snape.' Felix thought to himself.
"Who is this?" Snape said, raising the corner of his lips into a sneer-like look.
"His name is Felix, Severus." Lily replied lightly.
Felix noticed the moment of sadness in Snape's face when Lily said his name. So he guessed Lily used to call him by a nickname, but didn't now. Otherwise, he couldn't really guess why Snape would react like this despite it being his name. Unless of course he hated his name like Tom Riddle, but that was doubtful.
"Why are you sitting with a first year?" Severus asked.
"Because I can." Lily huffed lightly.
Severus Snape gave one more look before sneering at the door. Noticing the look, Felix looked over to the door where four boys stood. In front was what he assumed to be James Potter with a confident smile and next to him was Sirius Black.
'Did I pick the wrong seat?' Felix wondered to himself.
He had just found a random seat and his slight instinct to it told him it would be a good seat to enjoy the train ride. Yet, why is a bunch of fifth years suddenly crowding around these seats. Felix would really like to leave, but with the door blocked, he was sort of stuck and truth be told. He was a bit sleepy from pushing his luggage and from William being so excited last night asking questions of magic.
Instead of him being so excited about starting school to learn magic. Felix was up half the night as William asked him one question after another or if a certain type of magic existed. Which wasn't something new, but due to being away for a few months, William seemed to want to ask enough questions to make up for it.
Letting out a small yawn, Felix lightly swept his hand and soon faded from everything around him. Then he conjured a small blanket and pillow and curled up to sleep. Where he lightly listens to the bickering of the six older students.
It was a few hours later, Felix let out a soft yawn as he looked out the window. The train seemed to be still heading towards Hogwarts. Which made him curious about the children who lived closer to Hogwarts. Did they have to travel down to London to board to head back up to Scotland where Hogwarts is?
Well, the answer is no, because one of the reasons the train takes basically all day is it makes a few stops along the way to pick up those students. Otherwise, why would a magical train take most of the day to travel? This is a magic train and not a no-maj train after all so travel time is drastically reduced.
"Are you finally up?"
Hearing a young female voice, Felix looked around to find a single girl around his current age in the seat across from him. Lily, Severus and James Potter's friends were gone. Only this girl with fair skin, raven black hair and soft gray eyes were left. Felix also noticed the girl had a cute appearance for her age and if she takes care of herself in the future. She will probably be quite beautiful.
"Who are you?" Felix asked her as he lightly stretched.
"Angel Potter, James Potter's younger sister." She replied simply.
Felix just nodded to her words. While a bit surprising that James wasn't an only child in this world, Felix didn't put much thought into it. He existed and so why can't characters who aren't mentioned in the original series exist too?
