"All of Konoha's elite troops were destroyed. You can't deny this, Chiyo, right?"

"Um."

Chiyo nodded and admitted.

Although there were not many intelligence clues collected, Konoha's elite troops were indeed ambushed by Iwa Ninja Village, and the elite troops that were finally formed were wiped out in one wave.

Seeing that Chiyo calmed down, Loess continued:

"Just when I was leading the people in the village to besiege Orochimaru, Jiraiya, Hatake Sakumo, and other of Konoha's new-generation geniuses, a guy named Hyuga Shigeru appeared. He released dozens of ninjas from a sealed scroll—puppets made from corpses."

"These puppets are very powerful and caused the village to lose many people."

Chiyo kicked the corpse at her feet. "Is this puppet one of them?"

"Right."

Loess put down his clasped hands and gestured:

"What's interesting is that the Konoha ninja named Hyuga Shigeru did not control the puppets. All the puppets could move freely. After killing all the puppets at a heavy cost, the terrible thing happened.

The puppets lit up. Blue light burst out, and then they all exploded, with power far greater than a detonating talisman."

Recalling the scene at that time, Loess wished he could take Shigeru back and have him skinned alive. It was difficult for Konoha to form elite troops, and it was the same for Iwa Ninja Village. As a result, one wave of Shigeru's self-destructing puppets caused many casualties.

"This is impossible! How can a puppet fight without human control? Let alone self-destruct!"

Chiyo didn't believe this at all.

Sand Shinobi Village was an expert at puppets, and she herself was a puppet master. Could she let puppets fight on their own without control? No.

Unless they were puppets with a single function. According to Loess, the enemy's puppets fought like normal people. Even saying this would not convince anyone.

Chiyo chuckled, disdain written on her face: "Loess, don't you think the story you made up is a bit false?"

"I also thought it was a bit fake, so I specially invited you to meet. Now it seems that Konoha has mastered a special method of making puppets."

Loess was somewhat disappointed. He had hoped Chiyo could reveal the secret. If so, cooperation between Iwa Ninja Village and Sand Shinobi Village might have been possible. Unfortunately, he was doomed to be disappointed.

Sand Shinobi Village couldn't replicate this; Chiyo didn't even believe what he was saying.

It seemed like the trip was in vain.

Loess wasn't here to joke, humiliate her, or even request cooperation—he simply wanted to know the secret of the puppets.

"Are you sure these puppets fought freely, without being controlled as you said?"

"I'm sure. There were no chakra threads connecting the puppets. Otherwise, why would I bother seeking you out?"

Iwa Ninja Village didn't have puppet ninjas, but that didn't mean they were ignorant of how puppets worked. Was there something wrong with Chiyo's reasoning?

Chiyo pressed further:

"Are those large craters on the battlefield caused by the puppets' self-destruction?"

"Yes," Loess replied frankly.

Hiss~~~

If all of this were true, then the situation was bizarre. When did Konoha begin experimenting with puppets?

How many puppet ninjas could Konoha possibly have? They could probably be counted on one hand, and none were particularly notable.

So, where did these puppets come from?

Chiyo thought carefully and realized the name sounded familiar.

Oh, wasn't that the person tasked with supporting Tsunade in the intelligence report? No wonder the name rang a bell.

Chiyo suddenly gritted her teeth.

Loess, standing in the distance, didn't understand why the old woman suddenly looked ferocious, as if she wanted to devour someone.

Chiyo's fury was beyond comprehension.

"Loess, I think we can cooperate."

Chiyo had long wanted to deal with Shigeru because he had neutralized various poisons and developed antidotes, severely crippling Sand Shinobi Village's puppet ninjas.

She hated Shigeru with a passion, but he had stayed in Konoha's camp, making it impossible for her to act.

Now, however, Iwa Ninja Village was offering her an opportunity.

"How do we cooperate?"

If possible, Loess wouldn't mind cooperating with Chiyo.

"Let's attack Konoha's camp together."

Chiyo clenched her fist and punched the air.

Attacking Konoha's camp would be suicidal for Sand Shinobi Village alone. But if Iwa Ninja Village joined them, they might have the advantage.

This old woman was insane.

Loess had considered many forms of cooperation, but never one so reckless as Chiyo's proposal to attack Konoha's camp.

Let Sand Shinobi Village go alone. Iwa Ninja Village had no interest in such madness.

"Sorry, I'm not interested. We can discuss cooperation later."

Loess didn't hesitate to leave, leaving a bewildered Chiyo watching as Iwa Ninja Village's group withdrew.

Cooperation to ambush Konoha's ninjas or attack Konoha itself was one thing. But attacking Konoha's camp? Absolutely not.

Loess only wanted safe, strategic cooperation, not to follow Chiyo into lunacy.

Why refuse? Why?
