The day after arriving at Coral Island, Kiana dove straight into work.
She woke up early, partly due to jet lag but also because it had become her habit over time.
Her life with Schicksal gradually transformed her, unconsciously shedding her lazy tendencies—a definite positive change.
However, as she got out of bed, eager to be productive, she was surprised to find that there were no tasks assigned for today, likely owing to how early she had retired yesterday.
Kiana looked at her communicator, deep in thought.
"At this hour, Teacher... No, I should probably call him Captain Xia Chen now. He must still be resting."
Having lived within Schicksal for some time, Kiana had developed a habit of considering things from multiple perspectives.
This was largely thanks to Durandal's rigorous training, although her original intent was to teach Kiana to envision various angles of attack during battles and respond defensively accordingly.
Undeniably, Durandal possessed a certain 'talent' when it came to training, which only a few like Kiana and Wendy could endure.
Kiana's thinking became highly versatile, quickly applying these insights to everyday life.
Kiana's emotional intelligence was never low; she simply became spoiled by Mei at Saint Freya to almost neglectful thinking. At Schicksal Headquarters, due to her self-doubts and lack of someone like Mei whom she could fully trust, Kiana began relying on her own judgment again.
Considering Xia Chen might still be asleep, she decided against using the communicator.
"First, go for a run, find somewhere to eat around here, then meet Captain Xia Chen for our mission."
As Kiana thought this, just after freshening up and stepping outside, she spotted Xia Chen and Fu Hua practicing Tai Chi leisurely in an open area nearby.
Slightly taken aback, she couldn't help but approach them.
"Captain Xia Chen, Class Monitor."
"Hm, awake so early?" Xia Chen looked at Kiana and said, "Coral Island isn't like Headquarters; there aren't dedicated training facilities here, nor do I enforce strict exercise schedules."
"So, it doesn't matter if you wake up later."
However, Kiana shook her head, "I've already wasted too much time, can't afford any more delays."
If asked what impacted Kiana most at Schicksal Headquarters, it would be the intense desire of every Valkyrie to overcome Honkai, along with their relentless efforts towards that goal.
What Kiana perceived as Durandal's harshness was precisely what other Valkyries yearned for but couldn't attain.
Now, Kiana understood she bore the hopes of many, and thus, she didn't wish to waste even a single moment.
At this point, she had fully embraced her identity as 'Kiana.'
On the side, Fu Hua felt somewhat surprised but refrained from commenting further.
"It's still early now. Later, I'll head into town and bring back breakfast for you all. Kiana, is there anything specific you'd like?"
"Let's go together, Class Monitor. My appetite is quite big, plus, I need to familiarize myself with the surroundings of Coral Island, right?"
If yesterday's embrace with Fu Hua was an emotional release for her, then today marked the beginning of becoming a proper and qualified A-rank Valkyrie.
Fu Hua pondered briefly before responding, "That sounds good."
She turned to Xia Chen, asking, "What would you like to eat? The usual?"
Xia Chen's meals were typically brought by Fu Hua.
When it was just the two of them, Fu Hua usually handled breakfast while Xia Chen took care of lunch purchases. Then, dinner would always consist of seafood soup.
Fortunately, their stomachs weren't ordinary; otherwise, that seafood soup might have been unbearable.
"Sure, thank you for your help."
Kiana followed Fu Hua to Coral Island.
The Valkyrie Dormitory provided by Schicksal was located twenty kilometers away from the city center of Coral Island. However, this distance didn't hinder their running pace.
With a speed capable of covering ten kilometers in just ten minutes, it took them merely twenty minutes to reach their destination.
In the past, Kiana would have grumbled after jogging on an empty stomach for not too long. But now, she no longer did that. In fact, compared to the rigorous training intensity of the Immortal Blades, this run felt like a light drizzle.
Upon arriving at the city center, both slowed down.
"Class Monitor, why are you here?"
Curiosity finally got the better of Kiana, and she asked.
Fu Hua responded calmly, "Did you forget? I'm also an A-rank Valkyrie."
"Oh, right." Kiana genuinely almost forgot about that.
Actually, what seemed more peculiar was having an A-rank Valkyrie like Fu Hua stationed at Saint Freya Academy. However, Kiana didn't dwell on it.
She had come to understand that everyone has secrets, making it unnecessary to pry further.
"Heh heh, well, that's great! I thought it would just be Captain Xia Chen and me here, which could've been quite awkward."
"Isn't that more convenient for you to return to Saint Freya now?" Fu Hua asked with a smile.
However, Kiana shook her head.
"I won't be so selfish anymore. Auntie may tolerate me, but Honkai certainly won't. Therefore, I'll gradually adhere to Schicksal's discipline and become a qualified warrior."
Schicksal's Immortal Blades truly act as a melting pot of influence.
For the old Kiana, achieving such self-awareness would have required much more experience. It seems evident that the current Kiana indeed possesses the mindset of a true warrior.
Fu Hua couldn't help but feel moved and remarked, "Kiana, you've changed quite a lot."
"People always need to grow up eventually. Oh, Class Monitor, look over there! It seems like those Shenzhou buns you often mention. Let's go check them out." Kiana pulled Fu Hua towards the stalls.
Unbeknownst to them, on a distant street, a white-haired man was voraciously eating his breakfast.
If anyone were most conflicted about Kiana's situation at this moment, it would undoubtedly be Siegfried.
However, at this moment, Siegfried had no means to take Kiana away. Xia Chen's words rang true; he couldn't burden another member of the Kaslana family again. Moreover, the Herrscher consciousness within Kiana remained a constant threat.
Siegfried grappled with these conflicting thoughts. He was willing to sacrifice himself but didn't want to involve anyone else further.
"Phew, good thing it's Fu Hua accompanying Kiana out today. If it were that man, I doubt I could have resisted stepping in." Mocking himself, he tried to alleviate his inner turmoil through self-deprecation.
"Kiana has truly grown up."
With a somber gaze, Siegfried resumed eating his bread.
In the distance, Kiana seemed to sense someone watching her. Her distinctive facial features and hair color often drew covert glances, making such attention quite normal.
She turned back but saw nothing unusual, dismissing it without much thought. However, suspicion lingered in her mind.
"Class Monitor, let's get more of these. I'll just check something on the other side; meet you here in half an hour."
Kiana feigned interest elsewhere, remaining cautious.
She deliberately turned at a corner, contemplating to herself, "If someone's following me, they won't let me out of their sight. This should help determine if it was just a spur-of-the-moment interest or part of a premeditated plan."
Her analytical skills had been significantly honed during her time at Schicksal Headquarters.
As expected, the feeling of being watched intensified.
The corners of Kiana's lips curled slightly upward.
After changing directions twice more, she narrowed down the potential suspects to one individual.
Kiana took another turn through an entrance.
Then, she spotted the suspect trailing behind her.
With swift determination, the young Valkyrie trained her gun on him and demanded, "Speak! Who are you?"
Unexpectedly, the person replied with a chilling voice:
"Kiana Kaslan, how about we make a deal?"
The stalker revealed their true identity: Gray Serpent, a high-ranking member of World Serpent.
