Harry Potter, The-boy-who-lived, The-man-who-conquered, and his countless other useless titles, but the most accurate word to describe him would be 'tired'. Harry Potter is tired, only 38 years old but he feels at least 100 years older than his actual age.
After the war in which he started as a skinny and naive eleven-year-old boy and came out the other end as a powerful wizard. Harry's magical powers are only matched by the likes of Dumbledore and Voldemort, one whose death he mourns to this very day and the other he killed by his own hands.
After the war, Harry thought he could finally relax and have the peaceful life he always wanted, but that was nothing more than a foolish dream. After he returned to Hogwarts for his final year, he saw the wizarding world make the same mistakes it always does, while the new minister was trying to make changes it was not enough, the werewolves were still being shunned by society, the entire giant race was being punished for the crimes of the small number of giants that fought for Voldemort and worst of all while the major death eaters were punished, many of the wizards who supported their cause were still able to bribe their way out of punishments.
It's was like the entire wizarding world was preparing for the next dark lord to come along and exploit these laws and have a ready-made army to fight their wars.
Seeing this harry did the same thing he has been doing since he was born, he fought against them. Hermione was wrong, Harry didn't have a 'saving people thing', his thing was not just limited to people, it also includes magical creatures and everything in between.
Harry fought for the rights of werewolves, house elves, giants, etc, he fought to remove useless old laws and pass new ones. But these battles were different from what he was used to, these couldn't be won by his wand.
Now after more than two decades harry is finally done, he made the wizarding world a better place for all, from purebloods to muggle-borns to magical creatures. Harry did his best to achieve all the things his seventeen-year-old self set out to do.
Going through all of this harry can now finally understand Tom riddle, not Voldemort but the boy he was before he became that monster. There are a lot of similarities between both tom and harry, the most important being that both of them would do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. If tom was alive he would have surely disagreed and would point out that he was not burdened by harry's morals and conscience.
While harry's teenage self would have been horrified by any similarities between him and tom, but now it almost seems like a compliment. Both of them had rough childhoods, both magically gifted and both of them changed the wizarding world for better or worse.
Just like tom, Harry used every means at his disposal to make wizarding Britain a better place, he used his fame, his wealth, his vast magical powers etc. Harry even killed to make it happen, it did help harry's conscience that everyone he killed was a greedy power-hungry pest who didn't care even if the world burnt to ashes as long as they could remain in power.
If Dumbledore was alive he would have been disappointed with harry and would lecture him about being too harsh on his enemies, on the other hand, Tom would say that harry is too soft and forgiving.
Now the name Harry Potter commands both respect and fear in equal measure, to everyone else it seems like Harry has everything, fame, wealth, power etc, but if you ask harry, he has nothing left. While it is true that harry won but he also lost everything that matters.
The little boy living under the stairs in that dark cupboard always dreamed of having a real family but Voldemort took care of that. Harry thought that his friends could be his family but all his real friends died in the war or they were left broken by living through it. Ron and Hermione's relationship couldn't even make it past three months, this made their final year in Hogwarts all-new kind of miserable. To be honest harry would prefer to have a dark wizard hell-bent on killing him than going through that again. After the war, torture, death of everyone around them, this was the last straw that broke the so-called 'golden trio'.
After graduating Ron worked as an Auror for two years but quit, being lazy and aversion to hard work in such a high-intensity job was never a good combination anyway. Hermione took a job in ministry after graduation and just disappeared into the crowd.
Harry has not seen them since their final year, interestingly they were the ones who broke contact with him. At that time Harry felt angry and a little bit betrayed, but now he gets it. Ron lost two of his brothers and nearly lost his arm for him, Hermione had to make her parents forget about her entire existence to keep them safe, that kind of magic doesn't just go away without side effects. Even though it worked out for the Grangers for the most part, the old couple will never be the same after that and their relationship with their daughter could never go back to what it was.
It still hurts to think about the twins and realise that there is just one left, Molly still feels like the mother he never had, but he can't help but feel guilty every time he meets the warm and caring woman.
That's why Harry no longer has friends, he has allies and nothing more. All of his real friends died fighting for him. Some might consider this a strength but he just doesn't have it in him to lose another one of his friends.
Harry has everything, but nothing and no one to live and die for. This makes him question why was tom so afraid of death in the first place? to harry death almost feels like a dream now.
Everyone he cares about is already dead, so death just feels like a long nap after a hard day now, maybe in death he could finally be the ones he lost.
Suddenly, Harry Potter found himself in the vast emptiness, in every direction he looked there was nothing but darkness.
All-encompassing darkness might be terrifying for others, but growing up in a dark cupboard harry was familiar with darkness. It was simply peaceful for him.
After what seemed like an eternity in darkness harry finally heard a voice.
"Welcome to death's domain harry"
