Chapter 27: Invited
Although Amelia was angry with Dumbledore, she knew it wasn't entirely his fault but rather Voldemort. Still, she couldn't shake the feeling of dissatisfaction toward the strongest white wizard because he had been slow to organize resistance against Voldemort and death eater.
When Voldemort reign of terror began, many wizards looked up to Dumbledore, knowing he was the most powerful wizard capable of challenging Voldemort. However, he didn't immediately form the Order of the Phoenix or initiate plans to track Voldemort down.
Even during Grindelwald's era, Dumbledore delayed confronting him until the war reached Britain. Because of this delay, many people perished, including Amelia's family, who were among the earliest to fight against Voldemort.
Now, seeing this group that Dumbledore had formed earlier in this second war, part of her felt relieved. She had lashed out at him after being reminded of her family's death upon seeing him in Grimmauld Place.
The deaths of the McKinnon family weren't Dumbledore's fault but rather Peter Pettigrew's, as he had betrayed the other members of the Order of the Phoenix.
Dumbledore did come to help when members of his group were attacked, but for those who didn't join the Order, he didn't intervene unless the location was significant, such as the Ministry of Magic, or if a group of Aurors approached him for assistance. Only then would he offer his help.
Amelia were invited...
After Amelia lost control for 15 minutes while venting at Dumbledore, she eventually regained her composure.
"I'm sorry, Professor Dumbledore," said Amelia.
"No, I should be the one apologizing," replied Dumbledore.
"No, Professor, it wasn't your fault that my family was killed," said Amelia.
"It's true that Voldemort killed your family, but I was the one who was late to form a group to fight him," Dumbledore acknowledged. "This time, I don't want to be late, which is why I formed a resistance group early."
"I'm glad you recognize your mistake, Professor Dumbledore. I'm sorry that instead of people joining you, they painted you as a villain and a senile old man," replied Amelia.
"Thank you, Amelia," Dumbledore said, then invited her, "Why don't you join us as another member of the Order of the Phoenix?"
Amelia was stunned, and after a minute, she responded, "I'm sorry, Professor Dumbledore. I can't join your group, but I can share anything useful from my department about You-Know-Who."
Hearing this, Dumbledore felt a twinge of regret due to her rejection but was soon relieved by her offer.
"That's great. I'll gladly accept any news or information from you, Amelia," said Dumbledore.
The method to break in...
Afterward, Dumbledore began questioning how Sirius Black managed to bring them to the Grimmauld Place, despite the place being protected by a Fidelius Charm.
Sirius's answer left the 100-year-old wizard feeling out of his mind. No one had ever broken the Fidelius Charm, yet they managed to bypass it simply by holding hands. Even other members, like Nymphadora Tonks, were surprised by such a simple explanation.
"Isn't it simple, Professor? When I first heard about the Fidelius Charm, I developed a few theories on how to break it," said Dudley. It's true, there were several unanswered questions, like why Lily didn't cast the charm on their house and make herself the Secret Keeper. Instead, she followed James Potter's instructions and made Sirius Black the Secret Keeper, putting him at risk.
"Yes, that's correct, Mr. Dursley," replied Dumbledore, looking intently at him. But then, Dumbledore's eyes widened in surprise as he suddenly noticed Harry Potter was there.
Perhaps it was due to his age or the shock of their ability to break the Fidelius Charm, but he seemed to forget that he was trying to keep his distance from Harry. His goal was to prevent Voldemort from using Harry to uncover the secrets of the Order of the Phoenix.
Dumbledore abruptly stood up and prepared to leave.
"I'm sorry, I need to go somewhere and Sirius, congratulations on your freedom," said Dumbledore.
But before he could leave, Harry called out to him, wanting to ask something. However, Dumbledore ignored him. Everyone was shocked that Harry Potter, the "Golden Boy," was being dismissed by the headmaster.
Can you believe it? The defeater of the dark lord being ignored?
"Harry, I think Professor Dumbledore is really busy," comforted Sirius, equally surprised by Dumbledore's behavior.
Dudley, on the other hand, knew the real reason why Harry was being ignored but chose to keep it to himself, not wanting to upset Harry.
After meeting..
While they were celebrating Sirius Black's freedom, Dudley stood in a corner, observing the event.
[Congratulations, Host, for discovering the Black Ancestral House]
[Level Up]
[Reward: 1 Talent Point]
Dudley was shocked by the notification. He quickly opened his status and found that all his magical abilities such as spells, core, Room of Requirement, dark arts, and stealth were already maximized. Confused, he asked the system, "System, I received a reward, but how should I use this talent point when all my magic is already upgraded?"
[Host can use the talent point to improve stats or magic]
[For example, Host can increase proficiency with Lumos]
[With enough talent, Host could even use Lumos wandlessly]
"Really?" Dudley said, intrigued. He then used his talent point on Lumos.
[Congratulations, Host! Lumos can now be cast without a wand]
"Lumos," Dudley muttered, and his finger lit up, even brighter than before, thanks to the enhanced talent point.
"It works," Dudley said with a satisfied grin.
[Congratulations on performing wandless magic for the first time.]
[Intelligence increased by one]
Seeing this, Dudley smiled, thinking, Now I get why people dream about having a gaming status. It's basically a cheat.
"System, is there a limit to talent points?" Dudley asked.
[No, Host]
"Good. Now, how do I grind to level up?" he inquired.
[There are many ways to increase your level: finding hidden places, defeating enemies, reading, studying, brewing potions, and more]
'This is basically cheating,' Dudley thought with amusement. 'Even in Hogwarts Legacy, you need to complete quests to get rewards.'
