Chapter 1: The Monster Wakes Up (Prologue)
Gaepora's POV.
"I wasn't expecting there to be this much supplies we left in that cave." I comment as I open a crate containing a few metal pieces, "I wonder what these were originlly used for." I wonder outloud, taking one of the pieces out to inspect it.
As I inspect the piece, "Hey Gaepora! This box is different!" Horwell called out, prompting me to go and check.
Getting to his location, I spot what he was talking about, a large metal box that is frozen over, "That's weird... And how did it stay frozen if it should have stayed here for over a century?" I questioned, "That isn't possible by any sense of the word, the only way it could have happened is..." Horwell started, letting me conclude, "By the will of the Goddess..." I finished.
Upon further inspection, we managed to find where the box is to be opened, along with a plaque labeled as Vexalia, "What does this mean?" I asked, "I have never come across this word, I doubt it's an animal of any kind." Horwell replied.
Looking at the box, I decided to open it, "Be ready." I told Horwell as I fully opened it, revealing a little girl inside, "A child?" Horwell asked, "It is, but why is she wearing that mask?" I questioned as I moved to remove it, but this inadvertently woke up the child, who proceeded to scrumble out of the box and grow claws on the tip of her fingers to climb up a wall to get out of reach.
"So it's not human..." Horwell noted, drawing a quick sketch of the child in his notebook, "She must be scared." I realized, "I'm not good with children, you might have a better shot at it." Horwell told me, to which I nodded and walked over to the child, "Calm down, we're not going to hurt you." I reassured, holding my arms up, to invite her to come down.
I waited a minute in that position, trying to look as harmless as possible until the child jumped down into my arms, making me stumble backwards a bit, "There we go, see? You're gonna be okay." I reassured until I noticed that her left eye is completely black, her pupil glowing red and the left side of her face horrifially scarred, even going below the mask.
I debated whether to remove the mask now that I saw the scar, but I couldn't just leave it on like taht,so in the end I removed it, revealing that the scar went below to her neck, "I wander what caused that..." Horwell said outloud, reaching to touch the scar, but the child tried to chomp his hand, showing four rows of incredibly sharp teeth.
Seeing the imminent pool of blood, I moved away to avoid Horwell getting bitten, "Definetly not human." I concluded, "I hope she doesn't act aggressive with other children." Horwell commented.
Zelda's POV.
Sitting in my room, I'm practicing with my lyre, "Oh youth~ Guided by~ The Goddess's Servant~ Unite earth~ And sky~ Bright light to... The lig- Oh dammit!" I lament as I fumbled the last verse, "At least I've gotten better." I reassure myself, remembering when I just started playing.
As I got ready to try again, a knock on the door interrupted me, "Who is it?" I asked, prompting my father to come in, "It's me Zelda, I just wanted to introduce you to someone." He told me.
I tilted my head at that, "Who?" I asked, to which father prompted a small child, with a pretty gruesome scar on her face, to peek from behind him, "This is Vexalia, I was hoping you'd be okay with her staying with you, at least until we figure out where she comes from." Father requested.
Walking closer, Vexalia hid again behind father's leg, "Oh it's okay, I'm not going to hurt you." I reassured, making father smile a bit for some reason, but it did seem to calm Vexalia down as she stepped in front of father, but I wasn't expecting her to leap on me, knocking both of us to the ground with her laying on my as if I was a mattress.
Peeking from behind her head I noticed father trying to hold back a laugh, then I noticed that Vexalia grew a fluffy tail and began wagging, "I think she likes you." Father commented, chuckling as he faied to contain it now.
Looking at Vexalia in the eyes, I noticed that the pupil in her black eye turned into the shape of a heart, making me realize that I might not really have realized what I was getting into.
