Chapter 8: Preparations For Skyview
Deep Woods.
"I can't believe it was this easy..." Vexalia said, looking at the temple on the other side of the broken down path in front of her, "Could I have gotten here without the slingshot?" She wondered, realizing her claws would have been enough, but then she thought to Beedle's shop, which even with her abilities she couldn't reach, "Maybe after this." She decided as she started going forward.
Along the path, she stopped at a loud buzzing sound coming from a hornet nest, "What in the world?" She thought outloud, not exactly recognizing what they were, but then remembered that Gondo at the Bazar mentioned that Hornet Larvae are a prime material, but they are hard to find on Skyloft, so now that she had what could be hornets in front of her, Vexalia proceeded to shot the nest with the slingshot, knocking it down and just to avoid issues, she started waving her sword at the hornets to get them to leave.
Having secured the larvae, Vexalia decided to skip using the ropes and climbed up to another path she spotted by the hornet nest and followed it to a part of the broken path, where she spotted none other than Gorko sitting by a huge cube, "Hey! Weren't you going to check other statues!?" She called out, "Oh hey there!" Gorko called out back, "That was the plan, but then I found this thing!" He explained, motioning to the cube.
Walking over to the cube, Vexalia looked it over carefully, trying to figure out what it is, "From my research it appears that these cubes are supposed to be the key to treasures that will help the hero chosen by the Goddess." Gorko informed, but still didn't seem that sure himself, that's when Fi spoke, "Mistress, hit the cube with a Skyward Strike." She instructed.
Doing as such, light impregnated the cube, causing it to start floating, and the it shot up high to who knows where, "Woah! So that's how they work!" Gorko exclaimed in surprise, "Thinking about it, the text describing these cubes did say that the 'answer would be in the sky' or something along the lines." He brought up before writing something in a notebook, "There's more than one?" Vexalia asked, noting the plural that was used, "Yes, there should be one near the entrance of the temple too, anyhow I need to go now, bye!" Gorko waved goodby as he left.
"What an interesting rock guy." Vexalia commented, turning to the temples, she did spot the cube, striking t like the earlier one and also sending this one skyward, "Now for the temple." She stated as she looked at the entrance, which was locked much to her dismay, but then she noticed a crystal above, which she hit with her slingshot, causing it to split and the door to open.
Now there was a choice for her to make, go in, or prepare back in Skyloft, "Mistress, I would suggest going back to prepare in the sky, there is a 70% chance that it will be beneficial." Fi pointed out, causing Vexalia to make up her mind and approach to the Loftwing statue in front of the temple.
The Sky.
Being back in the sky was welcome with open arms by Vexalia as she hugged her Loftwing warmly, "Too bad this won't last too long..." She lamented, following the directions being given to her by Fi to find what the cubes opened, ending up on a chest on a singular island that contained a weird red gem, while the other, near the Lumpy Pumpking, contained a pouch much like the ones she had on her belt, which she gratefully added on.
Since she was by the soup place, Vexalia proceeded to enter to see if she might get something, but then the sight of the chandelier caught her eye, or more specifically the red gem on it, which is the same as the one she got from the chest, "You like the chandelier? I knew it was a good purchase for aesthetic." Pumm, the owner, said with a smile, "Yeah it does." Vexalia agreed, now actually focusing on the whole thing.
"The red gem looks out of place though." Vexalia pointed out, sicne it was one red among blue and green, "Yeah, I was unsure whether to remove it or not, but now it's up there..." Pumm said, aknowledging it was a little off looking, "Hey, if you can somehow manage to get it off, you can keep it if you want." He offered, "...Maybe another time, with the methods I have now I might just throw the chandelier down." Vexalia explained before ordering a bottle of pupking soup.
Skyloft.
"Home sweet home!" Vexalia exclaimed at the familiar sight, "...Zelda never gave me that thing she said..." She remembered, realizing Gondo might still have it, so she went into the Bazar and walked to the Scrap Shop, "Hey Gondo!" She called out to the mechanic, catching his attention, "Hey Vex! Where have you been?" He asked, not having seen the scarred girl in a long time.
That question made Vexalia scratch the back of her head since hse didn't think about what to say if it was asked, "It's a long story..." She quickly said, "Say, Zelda had you make something for me right?" She brought up, causing Gondo to remember, "Right! I was wondering why she didn't come and get it... But since you're here." He said, handing Vexalia a dragon mask.
Vexalia smirked at the sight of the mask, "Zelda knows me a little too well." She commented as she put on the ask and noticed some strings with rings that made the mouth move, so putting her hands in the rings and moving her arms in a monstrous manner made the mask look alive, "Graa!! Rawr!!" She 'roared' before laughing at her own actions, "Don't make that an habit..." Gondo begged, seeing some kids hiding in fear and some adults looking bewildered and amused.
Deep Woods.
Landing back in front of the temple, Vexalia stopped, "Wait, the mask might break..." She thought outloud, but felt her clothes shift around, making her turn to see that they created a transparent cover over the mask that just didn't feel realwith how hard it felt, "Okay, this works." She said before heading in the temple.
But unknown to her, someone was looking at her enter, smirking at the fact the trap could go in action.
