I Am Fugaku Uchiha

Chapter 14 : Mikoto’s Mission

As Fugaku overheard the conversation between the father and son from a distance, as his darkening of his expression betraying his thoughts.

"Ah~ You’re…huh? It’s Clan Head Fugaku," Might Duy exclaimed dramatically, as if encountering a specter.

Fugaku offered a somewhat awkward smile. "Your son is remarkably talented," he complimented genuinely, recalling his own awe at witnessing the red beast's prowess. He then didn’t expect that he would have the chance to see the real deal.

Might Duy was deeply moved by Fugaku's praise, nearly overcome with emotion.

"Thank… thank you... Lord Clan Head, for your encouragement," he stammered, struggling to find words amidst his tears and snot.

Admiring the father-son duo's bond, Fugaku found himself growing increasingly uncomfortable with the direction of their conversation.

"Um, I believe you both will excel as ninjas, but... I have some matters to attend to at home, so... I'll take my leave," Fugaku interjected, gently patting Duy's shoulder as he hastily concocted an excuse to depart.

Without waiting for a response, he vanished into the night, fearing he might succumb to their worldview if the conversation continued.

"I feel the fire burning in my veins; do you feel it, Guy?" Might Duy's fervent cry echoed as he observed Fugaku's departure. Clenching his fist, he muttered, "Since the head of the Uchiha clan has said so..."

"Then, guy… Move forward, be sure to become an outstanding ninja, and go for it. Uh, guy, what’s wrong?" Duy noticed that Mighty Guy had halted his training, his gaze fixed on Fugaku's retreating figure.

"Dad, do you think... Fugaku-sama is a bit different today?" Mighty Guy queried, perplexed by Fugaku's uncharacteristic behavior.

His father, a Genin Ninja who focused solely on taijutsu, shared his son's surprise. "Hmm. Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit odd," he admitted, though he quickly returned to his usual demeanor. "Anyway, it’s always a good thing to get a compliment from Lord Fugaku... Let’s keep working hard, Guy. You still have fifty laps to go."

"Yes."

Unaware of the impact of his casual conversation, Fugaku made his way home, where Mikoto lay asleep.

He saw Mikoto, who was already asleep, and breathed evenly. As a ninja, Mikoto sensed his presence and woke up . "Where were you?"

"I just went out for a walk. let Go back to sleep!" he reassured her before settling beside her.

Mikoto nestled closer, her warmth soothing him. Despite the intimacy, Fugaku reminded himself of his resolve, suppressing any untoward urges.

After arriving in this world, he found himself inheriting this unique bloodline, which posed its own set of challenges.

Fugaku gazed at the ceiling, exhaling deeply. With his newfound bloodline, coupled with the abilities inherited from Fugaku, he pondered if his current strength was adequate.

It seemed imperative to seize an opportunity to delve deeper into understanding it.

The following morning, Fugaku awoke to find Mikoto already up and preparing for a mission. She adorned her ninja gear with practiced efficiency—a vest, bandages, gloves, a ninja sword, and a forehead protector.

"Where are you off to?" he inquired, observing her preparations.

Pausing, Mikoto met Fugaku's gaze with a smile. "The food is ready in the kitchen. Help yourself. I have to go out on a mission."

"A mission?" Fugaku's surprised. He couldn’t recall Mikoto ever embarking on any missions.

"Indeed, dealing with some rogue ninjas. The mission rewards are promising. Since you're the clan head and can't leave Konoha, Seiki and I decided to take it on. I meant to inform you last night, but..." Mikoto's tone was casual, yet her cheeks flushed at the memory of their intimate moments from the previous evening.

Confusion clouded Fugaku's mind. Was this decision driven by the need to support the family? Hastily dressing, he approached Mikoto with a furrowed brow.

"Rogue ninjas, that’s dangerous."

Sensing her husband's concern, Mikoto offered a reassuring smile. "It’s okay; don’t worry. Set and Lie are waiting for me outside. I’ll go now."

"Wait…"

"Hmm?"

Fugaku hastened to catch up."I’ll walk you out."

Mikoto’s heart was filled with joy by her husband’s concern. She smiled and nodded towards the door.

They opened the gate and saw two young men in similar outfits standing outside. Rie was fifteen or sixteen years old, and Sekie was in his twenties.

Clearing his throat, Fugaku addressed them sternly, "You two, make sure you protect Mikoto, alright?"
