Chapter 152: Chapter 152: God of War Drax...
The deal for the Power Stone—or Cosmic Orb—was going smoothly. The Collector didn't lack funds, and four billion units was a bargain for an Infinity Stone. Just as he was about to finalize the payment, he noticed something unusual about his maid.
"Carina, step away from the gem!" he warned, sensing her growing agitation.
But Carina, after hearing the Collector's introduction to the gem's power, had reached her limit. "I'm no longer your slave!" she screamed, grabbing the Power Stone.
Instantly, the gem's immense energy overwhelmed her, reducing her to ashes. A massive explosion ripped through the Collector's collection room, sending shockwaves throughout the building.
Outside, in the square, Star-Lord and the others—still reeling from the chaos—were discussing what to do with the Power Stone.
"I think we should hand it over to someone trustworthy, someone who's willing to pay us a lot," Star-Lord suggested, trying to appease the group.
But Gamora dismissed him. "That's mercenary thinking. You're despicable! Shameless! A liar!" She grabbed the Power Stone and began to walk away, only to spot an approaching fleet of ships.
At the same time, Drax stepped forward, holding two knives, his voice ringing with deep determination: "Today, I avenge my wife and daughter. Ronan… prepare to die!"
Thor, watching from a distance, felt a strange admiration as Drax faced an entire fleet alone, weapons at the ready, with a voice full of grit and vengeance. For a moment, Drax looked like a character straight out of the God of War series—a true warrior.
Nearby, Yondu charged into the square, shouting, "Quill, you idiot! Stay out of Ronan's way!"
"Not good!" Gamora gasped, darting toward a ship to escape with the Power Stone. Star-Lord, Rocket, and Groot hurried to follow her.
Ronan then emerged from his ship, and Drax immediately charged, screaming, "You killed my wife and daughter, Ronan! I will have my revenge!"
But Ronan ignored him, his eyes fixed on Gamora and the Power Stone. Drax lunged at him, daggers raised, but Ronan simply instructed his men coldly, "Retrieve the orb."
Then, with a casual backhand, he swatted Drax away as if he were a mere nuisance, sending him flying.
Drax crashed to the ground and rolled a few times, dazed. Watching from a distance, Nebula and Minerva winced. So much for the fearsome warrior.
Nebula muttered, "Ronan the Accuser… he's after the Power Stone, too."
Thor shook his head. "Let him try. Ronan's a minor threat. Even if he gets the gem, he's no match."
In Thor's eyes, Ronan was nothing more than a formidable ant, hardly worth concern.
Meanwhile, Drax was getting pummeled by Ronan. In strength, skill, and experience, he was no match. The Drax of legend, who had once been rumored to stand toe-to-toe with Thanos, was reduced to a clumsy fighter with a hot temper and simple mind.
Drax growled and charged over and over, only to be thrown back each time. Ronan hardly broke a sweat, casually batting him aside like a mere distraction.
Ronan was a master at putting on an intimidating front. If Thor hadn't known how easily he'd cowered before Captain Marvel, he might have bought into Ronan's act.
Suddenly, the system voice chimed in Thor's mind: "Congratulations! You've triggered a Drax-related mission: Revenge. Complete the mission to earn rewards."
Mission Description: "In legend, Drax the Destroyer is a fearsome warrior, the bane of even Thanos. But in this universe, he's a clumsy fool, powerless to take vengeance."
Mission Objective: Kill Ronan or Thanos.
Mission Reward: Active Skill - Brain Damage.
Brain Damage Skill: "Reduces the target's IQ by 90% for ten minutes."
Thor nearly choked on his own laughter. A hilarious task with an equally ridiculous reward. The system truly knows Drax's character!
Nebula shot him a confused look. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Thor replied, schooling his expression as he looked back at the scene.
By now, Ronan had beaten Drax into submission. Drax lay sprawled on the ground, bruised and barely able to move. Ronan knelt over him, sneering. "I don't remember killing your wife and daughter. And I certainly won't remember killing you."
