I Became a New Magical Girl Priest

Chapter 313

Swinging a big hammer with one hand while holding something else in the other isn’t exactly the easiest task in the world.

Of course, it’s much lighter to lift something with two hands rather than one; especially if it’s a huge hammer you’d typically see on a construction site.

But, as Ji-hye said, there was something about it.

Whether that shiny generator was affecting our circuit or if our circuit was somehow affecting the magic that was helping us, I still managed to hit the enemy much faster and more accurately than usual, even swinging my weapon with just one hand.

About six more monsters barged in. But, hey, we had one more magical girl on our side. Considering that Ha-yoon and I took out four of them without a generator, three of us could definitely handle those six.

Boom!

At the loud noise, I turned around to see Ji-hye blocking a monster’s punch with her shield. The monster that threw the punch looked pretty baffled, staring at its own hand in confusion.

Ji-hye wasn’t exactly able to hit people.

That’s no easy feat. It’s natural to feel a sense of resistance to violence if you’ve never actually hit someone before, even if you know that the opponent won’t die.

The moment you swing a weapon, your arm can go a bit weak, or perhaps it becomes hard to fully exert your strength. Maybe you even start trembling and can’t put enough power into it.

Ji-hye was doing a decent job though.

At the very least, she wasn’t in danger. In fact, two monsters were charging at her, making it much easier for us to fight.

But we still needed to help. Just holding them off wouldn’t be enough.

Smash!

I leaped in and took a swing at the back of the monster’s head with my hammer. There’s no way this would kill the monster. After all, it’s a monster. Even if I smash its combat helmet, it’s not gonna die from that.

“Ha-yoon!”

“Yep!”

When I called out to Ha-yoon, she looked at me. I tossed the generator into her arms in a slick single-handed move. Ha-yoon caught it with style, tucking it under her arm like she was a football player.

The generator, glowing white, didn’t lose its light at all.

Ha-yoon’s wand shone even brighter.

I grabbed my hammer with both hands.

“Alright then. Let’s see who comes out on top.”

I wasn’t even sure who I was talking to; maybe it was directed toward the Noir Corporation.

They were trying to deceive me by creating a fake family that I didn’t even have and threatening the innocent people in the orphanage. Kidnapping my friends.

Yeah.

I didn’t think I was blameless either.

But man, I was mad. I was mad to the point of being unable to do anything about it. So first things first, I needed to deal with the enemies rushing toward us.

Then, after that…

Well, what else is there?

I really needed to dig into the Noir Corporation.

And somehow, I had to put an end to them so they wouldn’t bother us again—create a “conclusion” that wasn’t in the original story.

…That’s kind of a self-righteous thought, after all. In the end, it doesn’t really differentiate my rights and wrongs.

But then again, I didn’t come to this world for some righteous crusade. No, I never intended to come here in the first place.

So it’s their fault for putting me in this situation, right?

“Where are the people?”

Seo-hee asked, amidst the rubble and fire.

At least we could catch our breath. If we tried to hold on for too long, even the magical girls would be in danger, but still, we had it better than someone’s ‘bare body’. No, maybe with the fireproof suit and oxygen tank, we had an advantage over regular firefighters.

But still, there were only four magical girls. No matter how much we used magic to fly around, put out fires, and clear debris, what could we do about the gigantic and complex mess of chemicals that were making the fires reignite everywhere?

“I’m not sure. We can’t even tally how many people are trapped inside… The Earthlings seem to have managed to get out mostly, but I have no clue about the aliens.”

Yan-woo replied to Seo-hee.

“…Is wandering around the only option we have?”

Jua asked.

“…”

Chae-yeon was silently casting spells and swinging her wand. Thanks to the artificial rain pouring from the sky, we could at least control the fire spread to some extent.

Even though it was already past the time for school, that thought had long been erased from our minds.

“It’s strange. Even if this isn’t Seoul, we should have reached here by now if we flew.”

“Do you think something happened at HQ?”

After listening to Seo-hee and Yan-woo, Jua immediately pressed the communicator.

“…Ji-eun?”

She asked cautiously, but there was no reply.

“Ji-eun!?”

When she called out a little louder—

[Ah… oh, sorry! Things are a bit hectic here!]

—Just before we could start worrying too much, a response came back.

“I’m busy too, you know—did something happen?”

[Sorry. Things are finally settling down here! Once I finish up, I’m heading over to explain. …How about you?]

“I’m not sure. Things might not wrap up today.”

We still didn’t know the cause of the explosion. We couldn’t tell if there was one big blast inside or if there were chain explosions that led to this chaos.

That kind of thing could only be figured out after putting out the fire.

There was a brief break in communication.

“…”

The magical girls momentarily lapsed into silence, then exchanged glances and nodded.

“Alright. For now, let’s do what we need to do. Ji-eun said so herself—”

[Oh, never mind.]

But before Seo-hee could finish her sentence, a voice interrupted from the other side.

The voice was out of breath, but it sounded oddly refreshing too.

[It’s all sorted out. Great. I’ll be there soon. With Ha-yoon, Cherry, and Ji-hye.]

“Ah, okay.”

Once again, the call was disconnected.

Of course, it’s a bit tricky to communicate when flying at high speeds. While I could use magic to control the wind, making sure the wind noise wouldn’t obscure the communication, there was always a risk of colliding with any passing birds, drones, or other aircraft.

Especially if that aircraft had people in it.

“Wait a second.”

It was only after the communication was cut off that Jua quickly opened her mouth.

“Did you just say ‘Ji-hye’?”

“…”

The magical girls exchanged confused looks, completely clueless about what was happening on the other side.

Not long after, Lily appeared in the sky.

Not just Lily, Blossom was there too.

But it didn’t stop there; there was another girl, an unknown magical girl that people didn’t know about.

A girl in a light green dress, holding a giant shield in one hand.

Delphinium, who had been creating artificial rain while flying, seemed flustered upon seeing her.

Lily darted straight to Delphinium and handed over a round object that she had in her arms.

That white, glowing object looked like a small sun.

Delphinium stared blankly at the object she received, then looked down at her wrist. With wide eyes, she seemed startled and began to move her wand like a conductor.

Not long after, the streams of water falling from the sky changed.

Slowly, the thin drizzles that were pouring down began to gather into thicker lines, transparent yet curving light as liquid.

It looked just like a dragon.

That dragon flew quickly towards the remaining embers. It was headed in the direction where Delphinium’s wand was moving.

With flames swallowing it, the dragon opened its mouth. The water met the hot fire, turning into steam. It appeared like fog, making the net-like dragon look even more like a ‘dragon’.

Lily and Blossom, along with the nameless new magical girl, descended beneath.

Probably to join up with the other magical girls.

Soon, every fire in that place was extinguished, with Delphinium following closely behind.

The little sun that Delphinium had held glided through the debris, shining even brighter. It was bright enough for people a bit further away to see.

There’s no denying that there were some casualties. There were definitely injuries, too.

Many people were hurt, and there were a few fatalities.

But thanks to the magical girls arriving on time and utilizing their new gear, they were able to save many people.

It was an ordeal that normal folks simply couldn’t have handled alone.

No one would dare to criticize those little girls for missing a day of school.

And a rumor spread.

It was certain that another new magical girl had emerged in the meantime.

No one knew how powerful that magical girl was, but she was recognized as the girl who had played a significant role in thwarting the mysterious monsters that had attacked the Magical Girl HQ during the Noir Corporation Research Facility explosion.

“Wait! That wasn’t some secret weapon or anything, right!?”

When she saw the news headline about it that appeared on the internet that night, the girl let out a scream.

“Well, I mean, at first, they only seemed to focus on the weirdly close-up photos and videos of me in the news,” the overly seasoned peer said, patting her back while laughing.
